hey twinpiper... I never intended to say the 350 was not a good bike or anything... I was DESPERATE to buy the 350, but I couldn't, primarily coz Im still a student without any income, and the 350, in all honesty, was a 'dead investment'... I say 'dead' from the point of view of daily riding... Its not a bike you can take to college and race around on, and 'abuse' ... Its more of a collector's item kinda deal... And I originally intended to buy the bike to restore and preserve... But, since its my DAD's cash that Im blowing up here, I felt it would be VERY unfair to go and buy the 350, which could never be ridden like a regular bike, and which could never be taken on the road, LEGALLY... Unfortunately, my dad isn't one of those bike-crazy people who would drool over the thought of owning a Jawa 350 twin cylinder capable of over 20 bhp... All those words, and at the end of it, its still a bike, to him... Thus, I had to decide against buying it... IF I had had cash of my own, I woulda picked up a 350, and a couple spare engines for the 350!!! BELIEVE ME!!!
    --------
Harris and Kapil, yup, I hear you... I already spoke about them on some thread here, dont remember which one... Those two bastids destroyed all the unused spares and engines and sold the scrap metal away!!! My heart ached when I saw them taking a hammer to the engine cases!!! Greedy bastids refused to even let me have an unfinished bore for my bike, when they were already in the process of destroying everything!!! They wanted me to pay Rs. 500 for a bore, which had a barrel without any ports in it!!! I didnt think it was worth it, coz I already had a new bore and piston, for whihc I paid Rs. 800 ... Here, he wanted 500 for JUST the bore, no piston even!!! Its been a few weeks since I went to the factory, think I'll pay a visit next couple days and see what the position is, now...

        hi joel,

i am not sure with the exact address of the factory, i guess its in the mysore highway -- you could ask any dealer ofg auto parts who has been in bangalore for quite some time, he would know ask him IDEAL JAWA MOTOR INDIA LTD, he would be able to help you. . . .

Yezdi Factory is in Yadavagiri... All auto drivers in Mysore will know teh Yezdi factory, pretty simple to find it, really... Its been bout a month since I went there, so not sure whats still left there... Been planning to visit, actually... I'll prolly be checking it out morrow... Will post if theres anything interesting left... are u planning to come by road or train??? Coz I could prolly guide u... Jain Autos is on 100ft road... Again, ask any auto driver where to buy bike spares, and mention 100 ft road, and they'll be able to guide u... He did buy spares for bout Rs. 7 lakhs, and he is selling them at MUCH higher rates than he bought them for... so, BARGAIN BARGAIN BARGAIN ... I have it from reliable sources that he bought spares at bout Rs. 75/kg... His phone number, I have it written down somewhere, will post it later, when I find it...

its inside the city... Once u reach Mysore, there are two roads u can take, to enter the city... Off the highway, one would branch right, immediately after the 'welcome arch' and one more goes straight... U need to take the one that goes straight... Ask ppl how to reach Yadavagiri, once u get to Yadavagiri, ask bout the Jawa/Yezdi factory... Very close from the highway, and u shouldnt have any trouble finding it... The route involves a right turn, a small left and a right immedaitely, and a long straight stretch after that...

I went to the factory today, and there are about 4-5 fully assembled bikes left... Apparently lots of spares still available, but bastids didn't let me in, coz it was after 6... Said to come morrow morn, I'll prolly go too, thinking of picking up a 350 engine...

spares are MUCH cheaper in the factory than outside, tho' even the factory is charging a lil more now than they were last month... Outside, stuff can be sometimes twice or thrice the factory rate... depends on ur luck, mainly... Of the two guys at the factory, if Harris is the one talking to you, expect 'dealer-ish' rates... If its Kapil, expect a moody fluctuation of rates... He actually quoted a steering stem as Rs. 100 for me one day, and the next day, he asked me for Rs. 1000!!! I still prefer speaking to Kapil, but u gotta know Hindi to speak to him...

                            Man, another classic destroyed.
I remember when I was in College, a friend had a Yezdi. He used to run it on Kerosene after starting it with some petrol
Wud luv to see any other bike do that.

I still love that Old Classic Feel on such a lovely bike - Yezdi used to be a proud bike but with time it reduced to nothing but still feels good.
