  • How much does it costs to get bike repainted?

    Hi Friends,

I am pondering on getting my 2001 Pulsar repainted. Had some questions, look forward to your answers, views and suggestions.

    1. What are best practices to be followed for getting bike repainted.
    2. How much does it cost if all the parts of the bike needs to get repainted?
    3. Whats the general procedure. My little knowledge says, remove old paint, even out surface, apply some primer, apply some putty and then scrub it off and then a layer of primer and bake it and then starts 3-5 layers of paints. I am not sure normal painters follow this or not. Could you share your experiences.
    4. How much does chrome buffing would cost for rims, silencer and leg guards?

Look forward to your answers. Will have few more queries too.

    Thanks
    Viny

No Viny, we moderators do not get any kind of notification(s) [be it SMS/ e-mail/ instant message, PMs, User Message) when a new topic is posted. We need to go through the topics which are waiting for moderation at the "Moderator Control Panel" each time we login. That is our 'duty', our responsibility.

            Hey Viny...

About your first question, I think you have answered yourself in your third point. As your knowledge seems to be adequate for repainiting the bike. As it is I think you wont be painting your bike on your own so you just let the guys know which paint where and how and they will do it.

so get it done and show us the pics brother

Just a tip-ask them to spray what is known as 'clear coat' after all the layers of paint have been done. This will give the factory finish to your bike's paint&you would not even need to teflon coat it ever. It forms a glassy transparent layer on the paint.

Is this 'clear coat' already painted on factory bikes? Does it make sense to do it on a new bike, or is it already done and makes no difference?

Yeah, its lacquering, the paint shop guys call it clear coat.
On a new bike it would not make sense as it already has it.

I remember seeing this ZMA in Bangalore painted Pearl white ( Corolla's are painted like this). Trust me it looked Fabulous.
I wonder where he got it done.
If u have the moolah, do it in a painting booth. you'd get better results.

                              Thanks for all your inputs.
Could someone give me a ballpark figure for cost involved.
Do Bajaj Service centers have painting department? Like most of the car dealers have. If yes, would it be advisable to use there services?
