Hey Ananth,
Nice to see the thread opened (hope you did not have any problems).
Good write up for the day 1. Did you find any Tigers/Wild cats on the way up Kemmengundi?
Pictures are beautiful and it depicts nature's best. Hope we get to see like this for more time before it all spoiled by Commercialization! Waiting for rest of the story.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

Thanks Sriram. I dont think Kemmangundi is a much sought after place (Unlike wayanad / any other tourist infested area). Commercialization would take some more time hereOriginally posted by SriramEfunds View PostHey Ananth,

May be its the reason, even the accommodation is hard to find here!
Yeah i completely understand. There would be a GTG every weekend normally, If not try & attend this ride : http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/xbhp-off...-calimere.htmlOriginally posted by The Goat View PostCool man.. things've been a lil hectic... with a new kiddo at home... and a small mini vacation of 15 days .. 1967KMs done... and the job!!! hope you do understand...

Day 2: A misty Ride

Strange that there were lot of three wheelers a.k.a Auto Rickshaws plying by with more than half a dozen people inside and still managing to climb the steep roads. The last few kilometers to the hill saw a few abandoned / damaged houses. Also, there were so many people walking upto these places, somwehere like 15 kilometers from the next possible village!

With just about 75 kilometers to go, we rather took it easy to ride the remaining kilometers. With ample breaks every now and then, the slight drizzle poking into the face & greenery to live with throughout made the ride even more comfortable. There were n number of twisties to live with. The roads were thankfully broad enough with moderate traffic. We rode on continuously for another hour or so. We needed a break, definitely needed a break. With continuous cornering every now & then our hip & shoulders were sort of aching. Spotted a Coffee shop midway & stopped by. Tasted some refreshing coffee after a long time. Heck! I even bought some coffee powder from there

Kalasa was nearby, some 30 kilometers something. We reached the outskirts of Kalasa around Sunset. Sat around a tributary of Bhadra river. It was so awesome there, which cannot be expressed in words. You had to be sitting there on the banks of the river thinking about nothing, worrying about nothing. I really seemed enjoying it. Afterwards we saw a good game of khabbadi played by the local kids. It was some competitive tournament & there were official referees for the game.

Beautiful Ananth. We intended to do this route sometimes during August end, but, we couldn't do it. I'm now seeing what I'd missed!!!Skill is what keeps you on a Motorcycle
Awareness + Skill is what keeps you out of harm's way
ATGATT + Awareness + Skill means you might Live To Ride another day

Day 3: Run to the Coast!
Day 3: Run to the Coast!
The Alarm rang at 7 AM, Sudeep by then had already got ready for the day. Hot water was very soothing in the cold weather. Within a hour we checked out the hotel, tied up the bags & rolled up towards Kudremukha. The roads were really good, excellent set of twisties to warm us up & yeah the sun hardly came out of the clouds. For most part of the day, We hardly saw the sun out. As we neared Kudremukha, The scenery kept on amazing us. Any thing from green paddy fields to Tea / Coffee plantations to tributaries of smaller rivers.

Enroute to Mrudeshwara, Some river crossing :

I see the board : Panaji 220 Kilometers! Damn!! Goa is so close, Yet so far

Tomorrow, We ride back home via Marvanthe Beach to Malpe to Mangalore to Hassan to Bangalore!Photo Gallery[/B]
