So here it is... We couldn't find accommodation at Coorg, so instead of riding to smell the coffee, we instead rode to Wayanad to taste the freshly brewed nilgiri tea.

Couldnt sleep the night before the ride. I was so excited that i barely slept a wink. Time passed very slowly. 1.30 am ; 2.30 am ; 3.30 am...

Finally i flung myself out of bed and took a cold shower to drive away the sleepiness that might set in later.

With necessities already packed, i suited up and headed out to meet Shoaib at Adiga's resto in malleswaram.

Met him there and we rode together to the meeting point where harshit, Ajay, MS Guy, etc. were waiting. Exchanged pleasantries and waited for Ram and Ajay's 2 friends to join us.

After some debate we decided to stop over for breakfast at Adiga's (next to McD) on mysore rd. Ajay's R1 was an eye candy for all of us and the first thing that knocked me out was the wide rear tire. The puny 130 profile rear tire of the ninja looks like a noodle strand compared to the R1's rear rubber.

After a quick breakfast of poori's, idli's, vada's, dosa's, etc. for the gang we lined up the bikes for a quick snap.

Asked Ajay if I could sit on the R1 and start the engine as i wanted to feel the bigOne under me. Ajay was kind enough to offer me a short ride but I declined. The sheer size of the bike was overwhelming so i politely declined the ride offer.

We proceeded towards Mysore and stopped by the road for a small pee break. I sat on the R1 (thanks Ajay) and boy is she huge. Started the motor and i had gooseflesh all over my arms and legs. The throttle is so light and a slight flick sent the rpm needle on a frenzy. Although she has stock pipes she sounds awesome. The low growl and the menacing whine coupled with the flutter when you let go of the throttle was making me want an I-4 machine so badly.

Reluctantly got off and we proceeded towards our destination. En route we stopped to tank up the R1 at Nanjangud. After a while we again stopped at a CCD at Gudalur. After some bike talk and bird watching we headed towards Bandipur.

Thankfully this time it didnt rain... at least till we were almost near Wayanad.

We crossed Bandipur and saw some wild deer, wild rhesus monkeys, langur's and a domesticated elephant ridden by a mahout. I was skeptical about running into elephants after our last trip where Bluevolt and Scorcher almost had a romantic brush with the huge mammal.

All through the forest in bandipur I trailed the R1. It was fun following such a huge machine that rumbled like an impending storm.

We reached Mudumalai, stopped for more pics and then headed towards Gundalpet. Ajay and his 2 friends proceeded towards Ooty and we headed towards Wayanad.

We stopped a bit later for a nice lunch that consisted of chicken, egg's, parota's etc. A group of young mallu's were ogling at the ninja and when they enquired about the price they thought we were joking... They justified by saying their tata sumo cost only 4 lacs. lol.

Tummy full yet again we took a longer scenic route to Wayanad. Moderate rainfall but thick fog in certain places greeted us rendering visibility to nothing more than a few feet.

Finally we reached the resort after asking a friendly cop for directions. It was 5.30pm. So many stops and breaks later we finally made it safely.

The evening was spent indoors in our cottages as it started raining. The rain was heavy and finally towards midnight turned into a drizzle which stopped only in the morning.

The resort was nice, spread over 10 acres, and looks like its located in a small private forest with scores of trees all around.

We woke up late the next day. Sightseeing was not on the To-Do list. A scrumptious breakfast of poori's, omelets and grape juice followed after which we took a few snaps and left for blore.

We reached mysore pretty early, stopped at a CCD yet again after the previous stop at the same gudalur CCD. Bid goodbye's to each other and i was glad that this trip was fun. Glad i could meet new faces and best of all we had no untoward incidents.

Thanks to all those who came for the trip. I enjoyed riding with you all.

Ajay - It was fun riding with you and i'll look forward to riding with you again.

Alok - thanks for riding with me all the way man. I feel very safe riding with you man.

Scorcher - thanks for bunking work and making it for the ride.

harshit - thanks to you for starting the thread and for getting your friends along.

Shoiab - awesome riding man considering this was your first long ride in a group.

MS Guy - thanks to you for playing the role of sweeper and making sure we all stayed together.

P.S. please add anything i may have missed.

                Here are the pics.

Looks like a really nice fun ride you guys had. Surely it was more about the ride than the destination. Thanks for sharing.

Is there any restrictions on running with headlights ON during the day (like the R1) in Bandipur or Madumalai forest?

well no restriction with running the headlights one, but its a way to identify that the vehicle belongs to our group and can identify if i have the rider on my back......

                          @Adi,
We stopped at the Gundlupet CCD while going n coming, & we parted ways with Ajay at Gudalur. I think you have confused both places!

The pleasure is when your rear wheel slides, and you bring it back; and when the front wheel lifts, you take your time bringing it back.

                                Thanks Tibby.

Yes it was Kamat. I was so sleepy when i was typing in the report yesterday that I got Adiga and Kamat mixed up... same case with Gudalur and Gundlupet.

To be really honest, I loved the Ooty ride better (no offence to anyone). That was my first ride out of bangalore and it was an unplanned one so it has a special place in my heart. Just like one's first love/crush you can say.

But of course this trip is also memorable and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Too bad that time passed so fast.

Edit - some pics of my bike in motion. Clicked by MS Guy's colleague who was tailing us in his car.
