finishing it in 24 hrs or not isn't important, you did it in 27 hours on a 100cc bike.
its a record of its own.

congratulations and i bet you'll do better next time.
i love the way you've posted it.

if only your bike was a bit faster, you could have done it a bit quicker.
that's what i feel, but i could be wrong...

@Hyperion I would recommend against Redbull for all future rides. Red bull dehydrates + I started feeling much better immediately after the Red Bull but the sleepiness returns with a vengeance after exactly 2 hours. At that time, the only way to stay awake is by gulping can after can after can. The Glucose was much better.

@Royd extra fuel was a nice move but spare cables never hurt. I carry a spare clutch cable in the very little storage space below the seat at all times. Mine did manage to help me out in the middle of nowhere at an unearthly hour.

      Other pointers:
#1 If you feel sleepy on the highway, so sleepy that you actually start dozing off while riding.. pull over and take a nap. IBA SaddleSore is not bigger than your life.
#2 How did your Alpinestars fell? Were you not wearing them at the time? I would recommend you against such a thing ever again, especially on such a ride.
#3 It is not Protein you need at the time. What you need is ready energy. You need Glucose buddy (I have gymed too )

P.S.: The only time I did Bangalore Pune (& with Hyperion) I napped on the side of the road twice. A 10 minute power-nap will give you much more wake time than a can of Red Bull.

P.P.S.: Thanks for the mention in the log.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

I disagree. You should not depend on Red Bull to provide hydration. Anything that has caffeine is likely to be diuretic. You must complement it with some water.
A lot of the times if one is dozing off right in the middle of the day, it is likely due to lack of food intake and water.

        I agree.

As one reads the topic "Saddlesore attempt on a 1986 RX 100", the first thought that rushes to the mind is, The rider must've been one crazy fella. To try to ride 1600 kms in 24 hours is adventurous, to try to do so with a 100cc 24 years old piece of machinery edges insanity.

You sir have done the saddlesore, the 3 hours extra taken don't matter, the fact that you tried this on an RX does. I'm sure that you'd have done it in 24 if it weren't for some of the incidents that happened. Better luck next time.

You were very lucky that you didn't encounter a flat tire, a flat on the highway with no spare tubes when you're racing against time can prove to be a decisive factor. Take care of that next time.

Don't sleep and ride man, the IBA certificate isn't more important than your life.

Why wasn't the rx running revised sprocketing for higher speeds? A stock rx goes till about 100-105, why couldn't this have been extended to 120-130 with a bigger front and smaller rear sprocket?

PS: After reading this, I'm really tempted to try the saddlesore on my R15. and if I have half the will-power that you have, I'll definitely be able to do it.

A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

@NANO: Thanks Mate..M all pink This is my first log on XBHP

@antz: I was actually having a smoke with my helmet on. I had removed the left hand glove to manage the smoke, that's when it fell off as I had put in in between myself and the tank.
I was dying to take a nap, but decided against it as I was alone and no one to rely on to wke me up if I overslept. I have a bad habbit of getting lazy post a nap
Yes! It was Glactorate that I was having but I had not carried enough, had only a couple of packets

@Parth: Thanks mate The bike will be 24 years old this December.
LOL was just discussing the sprocketing part with Satyen
On the R15 it will be a breeze, go for it! Wish you luck

@aargee: The route which you had suggested Pune-Mumbai-Ahmedabad-Delhi spans only 1617 Kms as per google map. Would there not be a high risk of it being rejected by IBA?

Hahaha I must say you have a good eye for detail Yes! I would be more than happy to have company around for my next stint. This one was rather lonely and too emotional.
When are you planning to ride down to Goa?

The Kerala ride is with the Bladerunnerzzz group in December that will be a different experience riding in God's own country

How could i possibly miss that one.
I experienced new level of impatience when i kept refreshing the offline thread page whole day to just get an update on your ride.
Saddlesore may need it in 24 hrs...but for me with 27hrs too you still are certified. You made us proud bro.

Had the weather been on your side, the lights didn't play spoilsport for an hour, a wrong turn for 11 kms, you were almost there buddy. See ya!

Revised sprocketing makes loads of sense for a timed run like this.

I'm sure that the R15 is capable of something like this, I'm not there yet

You better, start wearing masks also on your next rides from now on, so that no insects go into your nose, waise bhi jab tujhme kisi cheez ka keeda ghusjata hai, tu usse poora kiye bina nahin chodega!!! You are determined to do it, and it wont be wrong if i say it now, that you are gonna try this again .
