  • [Photo Feature]: Velneshwar Ride on 20th and 21st

A plan made on G2G at Thane by an XBHian lost for 2 years began on 20th November 2010 at 6:30. The plan, Ride to Velneshwar. Motion Freak comes out of hibernation and cooks it, and that too very well.

On 20th, 11 riders with zeal and petrol filled to the brim, the journey begins at MacD. All the engines begin to sing " Gimme Fuel...Gimme Fire...Gimme all that I desire". All the riders get rolling leaving the noisy city behind to a new serene and calm. The convoy had the experience of DK and Motionfreak taking care of our NOOB souls on the high adrenaline.

The convoy rides into unison on the most coveted roads near Mumbai, NH17. And the riders are DK leading the group with Motionfreak ensuring that he does not have to tum back to find a lost soul, guys hats off to you to hold on to your nerves with the new riders, Puneet, Pranav, Nikhil, Veeral, Sachin, Tanmay and ofcourse me. Other riders were Dinesh, Ketan.

Then here we are riding, taking every corner with enthusiasm. The NH17 is in pretty good shape against what we new. There were quite some patches which were bad but the good ones were fun.

The ride has no major eventualities. Dinesh has a small slide kissing mother earth. That splits the group a few kilometers before Velneshwar. So here is where experience talks and both DK and Motionfreak ensure all are eventually at the destined place.

On reaching the beach, the calm carries you along. No crowd, no noise, you can even hear the birds chirp against the normal cars and trucks saying "Horn OK Please".

Lunch was at MTDC hotel serving us some lovely fired fish. We all get to our room, a place that Motionfreak got booked for us. A place at the top of the hill giving the view to the beach as far as your eyes can reach. Thanks once again to Motionfreak for the accomodation.

Oh how can I forget, we have a team riding from Pune too. Thanks again to the man who loves the BAT, to get these riders too. From Pune, Rohit(Beruoist) , Nikhil Sood, Deven, Kashif and Rishab(h) exploring roads of Ratnagiri join us in the party late in the night. The beach party begins with all of us taking a dip in the sea. After enjoying the sea, we get back to get ourselves rid of the sand, all the time waiting for the Pune group and all so Important BOOZE. Guys don't have the patience when it comes to booze.

Waiting endlessly for the Pune group and our booze, the riders arrive after exploring few more places in the their ride. The wait ends with Beru and entire gang here all ready for a Bang. The night party begins with dinner at the restaurant and the continues on the beach till late in the night.

We get to know more about the once who were "PEOPLE" now our "FRIENDS". Going late into the night, people talk shout and sing but not disturbing few others keeping the decorum.

In the entire conversation, Tushar puts a message that he too is joining us but next day. He joins us after riding his own plan the previous day along with Rohit and Bhaskar. So here we had a big group having fun at Velneshwar.

Damn, the days end so fast on holidays, it was time to return. We turn back home, riding on the way, we see a freak accident blocking the NH17 near Mahad MIDC. We get rains on the Kasheli Ghat. All that makes the journey more exciting and long. Riding through the night, we get back home.

All I can say, Motionfreak thanks for making the plan once made at a G2G happen without any eventuality. Thanks to DK being a part of the ride and lead us throughout. Guys who came along, thanks for making the ride a wonderful one.

ohhh the thread is finally up.......thanks mayur otherwise i had to do it!!!!!

            still from my side...
Mayur was the first one to reach panvel Mcd,then i joined him followed by ketan bhau.....after some time doing timepass here and there we entered Mcd.......soon we were joined by another riding group(at MCD for their break fast) who were going for a ride on their splendors, platinas, and what not in their chaddis.....then came the ZEEMAR leading the thane group.....we waited and waited for the DarkKnight.....and finally he was there....

After a fotu session we left....only to stop at wadkhal naka had some nice tea along with medu vada and left the place(i brought the entire stock of Tic Tac available with the hotel guy).....shortly we encountered the small road to the left which had taken us to vardiyani falls.....and the memories are now fresh in my mind.....then we were cruising and it amazed people along the road to see the group of dressed riders passing by in disciplined manner.....there were times when we were doing 80-90kmph on the speedo and spotted the White clothed police.....still they never bothered to stop us.....on one incident DK bhau was doing some hand signals while listening to a song and the police mama thought he was saying HI to him and he replied back in the same mannerr!!!!

Then we stopped at a nice serene place for a fotu session and also to pee....there we saw a kid riding cycle and we started passing comments (good ones) and compared it with different motorcycles......we started again....only to find the same kid ahead at the next turn standing with his friends and they calculating the number of bikes on their fingers!!!!!

Next thing we came across was Kasheli ghat....it was in great shape until we reached the top....while descending it was as bad as the offroads.....we went ahead......people stopped in between for starting the video shoot, placing their bags properly etc etc....and we split...then we took a stop at natuwadi dharan.....and we reunited......except for DK bhau who went ahead and had to stop 45mins with his RACING bike(popular among the locals) and the suttas...we tried calling him up but all in vain.....meanwhile me,sachin, veeral, pranav and puneet went down the bridge to freshen up with the flowing water from the dam and filled a bottle for the ones who stayed up!!!!

We started with ketan bhau leading and soon spotted the Dark Knight......soon we were cruising and doing cornering stuff on the ghats......and took a break again near the hospital....dinesh had got something to eat we had it and drank water.....then took some freaking offroad shortcut.....and we were back on highway......then the thing happened which we never wanted and the zma(dinesh) slipped......he applied his brains due to which he was saved from a nearly 10 feet deep Gutter......

we reached a signboard showing velneshwar 25kms left.....few people went ahead and few stayed back for dinesh, puneet, ashish to come.....we had a nice limbu sharbat, faluda, icecream there at the corner while trying to straighten the fallen zma's handle bar.....and also had guests enquiring about the ZEEMAR.....the falooda wala guy said "205 rupiya hua hai 5 rupiya discount" but when we calculated it was exact 150 bucks....had to tell him thrice that it was 150 and not 170 and 200......then we left and rode on hell like roads putting our bike ka suspensions to strenous test.......at the junctions where we were puzzled where to go people standing there shouted at us "aapka dost log idhar gaya hai"they must have thought these guys wearing armour must be from the same group which rode few minutes back from there.....we had a difficult time reaching velneshwar.....

it was all hilly region,we knew that we were going to beach and it was nowhere in picture......soon we spotted the sea and our joy knew no bounds.....after reaching at the temple again the people started shouting "tikde tikde".....all of them were intelligent.....we went ahead and found a pristine beach waiting for us with the fellow riders already waiting for us.....we had a nice lunch at a so called MTDC recognised resort. There we came to know dinesh has allergy to fish and we made a joke out of this.....they provided chicken only if we preordered for the dinner...which we did......the food was awesome atleast the fish (inputs from the non vegs)and then ashish took us to the hill top house which we had rented......it was the most horrendous road i have ever rode.....after moving on top it was a heaven for us.....

we quickly offloaded our stuff and gathered in verandah, there we had an semi dressed veeral who called himself a bear and we gave him the name of aswal(marathi name for bear).....ordered some tea......and to our surprise that guy went downhill and came back after a good 30mins on his CD dawn.......the way he rode the motorcycle it looked it was an easy job....we had the tea and left for the beach.....with veeral in his shorts and a towel to cover his upper body....he even sang the "dhak dhak karne laga" song with that towel moving swiftly on his back infront of village women until the beach came.....and he was given yet another name of KAALI PAMELA....

we had awesome time in the waters......with ketan bhau not venturing into sea we were kind of not worried about our wallets and mobiles at the beach.....we were soon enjoying the water with occasional big tides......it was a full moon and we even did a ZINGALALA HU dance holding each others hands......then something started biting us....they were some small small keedas in water.....we moved out.....went back to the house to clean up......Dk was the first to go in the bathroom.....and he said "maze ki baat yeh hai ki paani nahi ja raha" with these words water started coming out......then we took a bath(luckily we had two bathrooms) and put out clothes on the boundary marker rope for drying.......we went to the beach side again for the dinner......waited for the pune guys (rishabH.Nikhil.kashif.biru bhai.deven)to come.....they were very important from some peoples point of view......as they were the ones bringing stuff......we all had dinner then went to hill top and came back again to the beach.....wandered on the beach for sometime then the fire was lit and we sat good 10 -15 mtrs away from the fire.....Nikhil bhai was soooo tired that he slept on the beach.....i and veeral even dig a tunnel and shook our hands.....then we had some nice time chilling out there and went back to hilltop for a sound sleep.....there we had a nice intro session.....where we came to know a lot about DK bhau from his 3 kids......

while we were talking the aunty staying with her family on the first floor stood in the gallery and asked us to keep our voices low....which we politely did.....soon in the darkness we started sleeping one by one and came across message put by tushar that he will be joining us the next day....then came the songs from biru bhai with some inputs from rishabH.....and kashif constantly telling them to sleep as soon as his name was called......after an hour long singing session they finally slept......

In morning when every one got up.....the pune gang was sleeping exccept for kashif.....who was doing the opposite in morning......telling them to get up......we went to beach again

and had some nice vadapav, misal pav, vada usal, poha and the after a fotu session the pune guys left and we all enjoyed with some people in water and some on the beach wandering here and there..........we also went back to the house....there we tried placing the self made camera holding mount on different bikes and finally put it on kaali pamelas bike with his visor removed.......soon we were joined by tushar, bharat and rohit.....where rohit filled the atmosphere with his jokes......

we all went down to the beach for the last time for a quick photu session by the three musketeers and told them to have somthing to eat as they were hungry since last night.....after seeing them eating we could not resist our temptation to eat and we joined them......

had the lunch there itself....we left the place biddig bYE Bye to the beach in a single lane formation......we planned to go through the coastal route.....but had to wait for few people who had accidently split from the group for nearly 45 mins......then we gave up on the idea of ferrry.....and rode through the roads.....soon we were nearing khed and saw a freaking accident of a splendor crushed under an ST vehicle.....we quietly passed by and after reaching somewhere lote or khed we encountered a rasta roko.....where dk bhau urged the protestors to atleast let us go but they didnt budge...and wee had to turn back and take a detour....luckily it was a small town so we found another road bypassing the rasta roko.....we crossed it and stopped again at the highway for others to join in.....and started the return journey again.....5 people went ahead at the beginning of kasheli ghat and the rest 8 stopped for an tyre pressure check and decided the projector will lead and the hid will stay in the middle of convoy.....we ringed up the others only to know that they had also stopped somewhere ahead.......and then the rain gods spoiled our night riding ......we were quietly following each others tail light and found the other 5 stranded at some deserted dhaba....we left from there as the water poured over us.....with no liners we were wet from top to bottom.......we reached the dry patch and were cruising at high speeds following each other.....we had small breaks in between to give our butts some rest.....and finally we reached outskirts of panvel.... there we stopped for every one to gather and left after bidding everyone a good bye.....i left the convoy at the JNPT panvel road while the rest travelled towards JNPT....soon i reached home and found myself looking at the mirror laughing as my skin had turned black due to dust....had a nice dinner and slept soundly......

P.S. i only got these pics from facebook rest i hope people will upload them as soon as possible......
