I was among the first people to buy the videos of LWR & LWD when they were respectively released. Also have a lot of Globeriders videos. The GS rules in all of them.

I watched LWD video, but not able to find LWR torrent. if by chance you happen to get the torrent, just tell me.
GS certainly rules. No doubt. But you know, I like K1600GTL kinda more(My personal opinion).. I know both are in different league, but then also..

Sure when you have flat out wide highways the GTL rules in comfort with luxury, but potholes, bad roads or no roads- then GS smiles from ear to ear
.
Although I still rate the Honda Goldwing as the industry standard for full dress tourer, I was disappointed with the 2012 design Honda Introduces 2012 Gold Wing MotorcycleDaily.com – Motorcycle News, Editorials, Product Reviews and Bike Reviews (rather very few changes) and see the technologically superior K1600GTL going to have some good sales atleast in US. As for Europe, they are fine on the autobahns, but on the tight B-roads/Alpine passes, they are more easily flickable than the goldwing but will still need some effort with a pillion & fully loaded. Good, BMW has got detachable saddlebags & topcase on the GTL as against fixed ones on the outgoing top heavy K1200LT. These removable cases are very convenient to carry into your hotel room as against carrying removable internal liner bags. But again the electro-hydraulic center stand & reverse gear seem to be missing on the GTL.
The new BMW K 1600 GT and BMW K 1600 GTL will be presented for the first time at motorcycle exhibition INTERMOT in Cologne, Germany (October 6-10). With the ...
Interestingly, if I were a weekend rider in Bangalore (and ofcourse if I have that kind of money), I would prefer to have a comfortable full dress tourer like a Goldwing or GTL or Vulcan Voyager taking wifey or kid as pillion & heading out on any one of the highways out of bangalore & do a 300-400km round trip every weekend and come back by afternoon as I anyway would not be interested to ride much in thick bangalore traffic.Last edited by Haroon; 02-27-2011, 02:29 AM.

hi
Hi Haroon, came across your travel through South India and intrigued by the long drives and people you had met.I read through the travel experience without break, because you had made it into an interesting one..your narration reminds me of Steven Spielberg in it's ability to grab ,and take me to all the places live.A special thanks for the beautiful Pictures which gives the effect of being with you on the bike...
A special word of appreciation to your wife who had traveled with you all along, taking those pictures of goats in a meeting, and Cattle at a Zebra crossing as well as the many road view ones.....your travelogue is inspiring and make me wish to be young enough to have a similar experience.
Best of luck and Good wishes Always

@ psr. Thanks for the kind words and compliments. Wife whole heartedly accepts your nice appreciation. Ofcourse, in her contributions you missed 'holding onto the camera at 150kph'
BTW, as long as you are young at heart
, I think you can give it a try. I take inspiration from some of the globerider videos, in their 8000 mile silk road adventure most times the oldest rider is above 60yrs!
@ mav1234. Not sure of dates, but within 2-3 months. Will certainly meet up.

..judging by the reading on the speedometer
. Yes I do know how windy it is at those speeds, which is why the max credit is due to your wife ,who not only has to hold on to the Camera, but also compose the scene correctly to take such beautiful pictures....without flying off.

Thanks princesirohi for the compliments. I am just another passionate bikerOriginally posted by princesirohi View Posti have querry ....is there any bmw service centers for bikes in india.....coz i like tourers from bmw......but how to keep them in good condition......??
For service, yes, as per my talk with Navneet Motors, they have sent their mechanics from Mumbai & Bangalore to BMW for bike service training. But then, the oil change, filters and even valve timing adjustment service etc can be easily performed by a regular mechanic, but its the complicated electronics & other stuff that will need a factory trained mechanic (more importantly the use of their computer diagnostic system, that points out the problems quickly). In general these bikes are made like a tank and it can take a fair bit of beating without giving much trouble, but the newer BMWs with all the tech gizmos like Traction control, Electronic Suspension Adjustments, Canbus electrical wiring etc just have more complicated things that can go wrong on a bike like any other mechanical device.
Personally, after using my GS in India, one of my only concerns for potential BMW bike buyers is that this bike is happy with 95 or higher Octane petrol and with 97 available only in very very few places, I am personally not satisfied with the 93 grade 'premium' petrol for its touring performance esp fully loaded with luggage & passenger etc, the engine was a little rough and so I dont know what long term effects it could have on engines of regular users in India. Although BMW claims it has a knock sensor that will adjust the ECU settings temporarily for lower grade petrol, I found knocking at lower speeds as well as a lil rough engine above 4500rpm/120kph speed with the 'premium' indian petrol. But again, I cant be very sure as the culprit could have been adultrated petrol as well.Last edited by Haroon; 03-09-2011, 05:01 AM.

Haroon ji - Happened to be in KL first week of May; Aunt showed up a book casually saying someone is on a world trip on his motorcycle & what I saw was...
YOU
Your T'log has been published in Vanitha, a leading women's magazine in Kerala. I was totally in joy, disbelief & so happy for you. I was totally stupid enough not to have taken the picture of the magazine as I assumed it should be available online.
It is indeed available online, but only on the older issues. I hope your TLog should be available in their online magazine sometimes by end of this month or next.
Congratulations Once Again
