Finally you did it Haroon! Hats off. And thanks for sharing this unique experience. I thought that initially it might be a harrowing experience. But looks like you adapted pretty well.

I also notice that the Canon Ixus 70 did good service to you.

And I was at Mahabalipuram approximately the same day that you were, the 14th if I am not mistaken!
Thanks Ken and nice to hear from you after a long break.
Indeed, The first few kms in Bangalore traffic jams were horrible, but from there on I just got into the indian rhythm of riding.

Oh man we missed. Yes it was the 14th that we passed mahabalipuram. Would have been great to see you. The Ixus 70 is wife's camera. My rebel xs only came out when we stop somewhere. My new GoPro HD cam arrived only after the trip, so I am eager to use it for the next trip (wherever, whenever...)

u surely had a blast. y not one jeddah to dammam please hehe
    excellent write up

btw any problems with the cops
and how did u get english in the number plate?
Thanks Adil. Like I said earlier, paisa wasool on my GS with India trip.
No problems with cops. Just as a precaution, I changed the plate to bi-lingual in case any cops stops and asks me why it is in 'urdu' as they dont know the difference between urdu & arabic. Also put a number plate sticker on the front as I was already fed-up of telling people about the headlight being ON all the time. A local stickerwallah close to my home did it both for Rs. 200.

Awesome ride Haroon! Lovely pictures and great trip log. Your bike had me drooling and also wincing seeing you on the Shiradi ghat. I've done that route many times but mostly by jeep and can understand how it was for you. Kudos to you and your wife for the truly amazing ride. We (my wife and i) had done a much shorter-BLR/KL/BLR on a much smaller bike-RX 100 ride last month and our hats off to both of you for a truly memorable ride!

      Keep Riding & Ride Safe
      Cheers!!

Thanks ridemax for the compliments. Indeed, we enjoyed our ride to the fullest.

I had seen your ride report and commented there on the special appreciation for your wife for enduring the long trip on a smaller bike. BTW, the RX100 is a very sweet bike.

Yeah Azim, me & wife finally completed the trip with whole-hearted satisfaction! Well, next destination is my office! To do some work and save up for the next trip as my pocket is now completely completely dry....
BTW, I have been eagerly waiting for the CSS pictures and experiences.

                Thanks for the appreciation worrisome.
Actually most of the articles in the xbhp mag has breath taking camera work, so I shy away from it as me & wife dont have super-photography skills required for mag quality. Anyway, I will look for some of the better pics and send them.

Haaron sir, nice to see you back on the Indian roads after so much of red tape. And kudos to bhabhiji for being a great supporter. While I was reading your European trip blog for the nth time, I smiled seeing the prelude...

South India Peninsula ride (hopefully on my own GS) and probably my final frontier- The mighty Himalayas someday.
While awaiting for more awesomeness from your part, I will start back with PM's, since I have a plan to follow-up on the trail among the Alps very soon .

Thanks Sunil. Yeah, it is the realization of a dream. I am working on it one step at a time

Yes Sunil, the Alps is a must do for any biker and its really worth every penny you spend. If you have the time, spend atleast 14-15 days covering most of the major passes. If you are planning for 2011, just time it after August (avoid the time during european school vacations). Also, I have a feeling due to the very heavy snowfall this winter, the passes that normally reopen in early May, could be closed for few more weeks. Anyways, you can always PM me for any queries. Plus worth peeping into the 'Trip Planning' section at advrider.com to get some general ideas. Later you can also post a query there if required. Must buy the book by John Hermann as mentioned in my trip log.
