  • [Photo Feature]: Weekend Ride to Shrivardhan - Harihareshwar !

It was first birthday of Ameya220's p220 and we had a plan to make it special. Being online buddies we were long looking forward to ride together and this occasion was just perfect to make it happen.

Ameya wanted to visit one of the Konkan's most divine and scenic beach => HARIHARESHWAR. Even I wanted to visit this beautiful place known for its scenic beaches and divine temples. The plan was ready much in advance with a rough itinerary and requirements in place but the wait for ride was making us anxious & impatient day by day. Moreover, it was going to be my first night out bike ride which made me all the more excited.

At first we thought its only 2 of us for this ride but later RISHIS decided to join in with his p220 and we were more than happy to take him along.

Finally the much awaited weekend arrived and on 26th March, 2011 early morning, 3 Bajaj Bikers with Cross Helmets and other Riding Gears on them set out for this exciting and memorable bike ride.

This thread is dedicated to the magnificent bike ride which we would cherish for the years to come ~!

Nice one Rony, where is the kuda caves? I dint come across this when I went to Harihareshwar. Is it a detour from the regular route? Post more pics if possible.

My trip to Diveagar & Harihareshwar a couple of years ago was a memorable one but it was in a cage . It was still fun though

                      Day 1 -> Leg 1 :: Andheri - Panvel - Vadkhal - Revdanda

Both me and Ameya were desperately waiting for this ride from past 2 months. Finally the wait got over and on 26th March, 2011 we woke up to a day which was expected to be full of excitement & adventure. I got up early at 4am and quickly completed the morning chores. I first met Rishi at Bisleri junction on WEH and later we met up Ameya waiting for us at WEH-JVLR junction by around 5:30am. I filled up my bike's tank at a nearby HP petrol pump and then we started riding towards vashi in full swing ripping around 90 - 100 kmph as the road was all clear with hardly any traffic and pedestrians.

We reached Vashi at around 6:15am. Here before taking diversion to palm beach road, we stopped to call up a fellow xBhpian from whom I was supposed to borrow v6200 which was supposed to be used as a GPS navigator for our twisty ride. But he was fast asleep and did not answer the call despite repeated attempts. Finally after 5 minutes we decided to let it go and headed towards the awesome Palm beach road. Its one of the best roads in Mumbai to rip your bike safely. Early in the morning there was little fog and the air was cool. Riding bike on it made us fresh and pumped up for the ride ahead. We quickly reached JNPT road which is another smooth road to rip on with minimal traffic early in the morning.

In no time we reached JNPT-NH4-NH17 junction and directed our steeds towards NH17 which had moderate traffic heading towards Vadkhal. It was around 7:15 am when we passed Karnala Bird Sanctuary area. The curvy road along with morning breeze and rising sun's light rays with minimal vehicles around served a perfect combination for us to take few quick corners and enjoy the ride. We reached the first toll plaza immediately afterwards and decided to take a brief stop to pose for some snaps.

It was around 7:30am and the sun was pretty much up. We decided to resume the ride and head towards Vadkhal which was our breakfast stop. The traffic was picking by this time and our speed slowing down but the road was good enough to ride on specially the 2 bridges where you get a wide angel view of the surroundings getting lit up by morning sun.

By around 8am we touched Vadkhal and parked our bikes in front of a restaurant just next to the junction. Got our helmets & safety gears off to breathe some fresh air and occupied the table near the entrance from where our bikes laid with our luggage were easily visible. Quickly ordered the breakfast and tea which was served in no time. While planning for upcoming Goa and Ganpati Pule ride, we munched the breakfast and sipped the hot tea much to our delight. The clock was now ticking 8:30am and we decided to get back on the bikes but not before clicking some snaps !

This nice sporty white Beat parked just next to our bikes grabbed our attention with its shinning alloy wheels and hi-fi interiors.

At this juncture I dont know what went into my mind and I directed the bike straight towards Alibag instead of heading towards Nagothane which was our original plan. By the time I realised that we were off the track it was too late and we had already entered the ghat section of NH4B. It was an awesome road to ride the bike and take few corners with trees and valley bordering the road on either sides. The ghat section was over within few minutes and we stopped past a cross road where a straight arrow was pointing to Alibag and a left arrow was pointing towards Murud. With no intentions of riding our bikes on Alibag's busy streets, we promptly turned our bikes left and rode towards Murud.

Within no time I started recollecting memories of my previous ride with couple of xBhpians to Kihim, Alibag and Revdanda. The narrow twisty concrete streets with houses on either sides and the red ST bus blocking our way seemed familiar. It was nearly 9am now and I made an impromptu plan to take a pit stop at Revdanda fort guarding the beach where I had enjoyed a lot last time around with fellow xBhpians. I could easily spot the narrow entrance to this hidden place and directed my bike towards the beach. Last time it was around 2pm when we were here and the thick tree cover gave us the much needed respite from the sweltering heat. This time it was quiet different though. As it was just 9:15am, the sun shine was moderate and the shadow of the fort walls created enough shade for us on the beach. I quickly took out my camera and started clicking. The two punters also relaxed under the tree shade. Ameya after posing for some exclusive pics was glued to his cellphone and Rishi was checking out the fort while smoking a stick !

My clicking spree stopped as soon as I checked out my watch, it was quarter to 10am now and we decided to move on though internally we wanted to wait for some more time and enjoy the cool ambiance of this beach. We started gearing up and then rode towards the main road through the dense woods and fort walls. I could not miss this opportunity to take few more pics from my camera hanging off my neck !

@ Rony - I went to sleep at 3 am that day, so could receive your call which was made at 5.30 I guess. Man was deep asleep and I got up at 11 am that day, sorry could not give you the phone.
If you could have reminded me a day before may be I could have managed some way.

                          Regards,
