+1, but I was using internet explorer version 6 on my office lappie, it took me 2 days to update it to version 8 through our official channel. Trying again now as the last two times I tried putting up something through the office lappie, I failed.

        Day 4
Well the jouney continues and the routine work of getting up, getting fresh, getting dressed as well as packing up took no time. And it was a beautiful day in the hills, amazing skies and we were fresh and ready to ride on those roads. The discussion at the breakfast table was hovering aound AMS. Were we plain lucky or was it the route (Shimla to Kaza) that was responsible for our pristine body conditions. Though we were well prepared with medicines and stuff, but who wants to unnecessarily have medicines.

We also decided how to negotiate the water crossing(s) that we will encounter going ahead. The plan was that the rider leading the group will stop at a major water crossing and wait for the trailing rider to join. Then we will remove our shoes, socks, backpacks, etc. and try to cross the same. The idea is that in case a rider goes down, then these things will be saved and will not get wet. Before or after crossing the water crossing we can always try to cross the same on foot with these things and that will help us find a suitable path for our bikes too. Well so much so for the planning and lets see if are able to implement it or not.

After settling our dues, we started on our jouney and our intention was to reach Kaza by eod. Mr. X was initially trailing but usually at the start of the ride I am not upto it and ride easy. Once I am well settled and into the groove then the fun starts. Seeing that Mr. X is constantly on my tail I signaled him to move ahead and take the lead. Mr. X happily zoomed past me and I was left behind thinking whether he has disc brakes, tubeless tyres, etc. In fact, he was almost without his front brakes, and I riding one of the prettiest looking sports bike is riding like a wimp. But as it was early in the day for me and I was in no mood to ride hard I was driving at a leisurely pace enjoying the surroundings.

Its all downhill from Nako and as soon as well left Nako, we hit a water crossing. Now I know that its called 'malling nullah'. As per the plan Mr. X was waiting before the the crossing. I gauged the same and signalled him to follow. Intensity of water wasn't that great and I made it to the other end quite easily. The idea is to gauge the situation and try and cross it where the water is shallow, put your ride in the first gear and keep up the revs and you are there. Mr. X also made it quite easily and we continued our downhill ride. Sadly, we didn't click any pictures of the nulluh.

As soon as you reach the bottom of the hill, and ride alongside the raging river you will hit a village. It was time to stop for our customary butt break, but there wasn't any interesting place to stop. So I zoomed ahead in search of one and look what I found:

Even though these are my initials, but it wasn't me/ "main nahin see"

        to be contd...

          Day 4 contd.
We continued on our jouney and the plan was to see the naturally preserved, 550 years old mummy of a lama who died while praying at Gue. This is between Sumdo and Hurling. It was getting quite hot and riding on those unforgiving roads was not easy. The heat was taking its toll on my baby and its temperature gauge was going crazy. This was more so beacuse it was a steady climb up and the road was more if a dust bowl than anything else, with so many twists and turns thrown in between and the result was that I was unable to ride fast. This is probably the only place that I had to stop my bike for 15- 20 minutes so that it cools off a bit. Some pictures when we, no I stopped for the first time to give my bike some rest. Mr. X was enjoying his 'sutta' and I was busy clicking, the result is:-

Mr. X and I decided to leave after a 15 minutes break and I was relieved to see that the temperature needle has come down by few centimetres. Mr. X was feeling at home riding his awesome bull in those conditions and I was concerned about my bike, lest I have a fall and my account balance could deplete by 25- 30 K rupees. Thus I was slow and steady and my bike was hot as hell pretty soon. This would result in me taking few more stops to cool her down and Mr. X making it up to Gue and the place across the village where the mummy is kept. I would join him soon and the mandatory pictures that follow are:-

It was almost 1:30 or 2:00 and we were of the opinion that we are late and must hurry up. The plan was to have our lunch at Tabo. While comming downhill from Gue, I was leading the pack and was driving quite fast, especially compared to the one going uphill. I completed the entire stretch quite quickly and joined the main highway towards Tabo. As I reached there first and decided to wait for Mr. X to join, who would join me in 5 minutes, I decided to shoot some more.

          More soon...

Gah! The pictures! The adventure! The suspense! You can't keep us waiting like this! I started reading the thread eager to see how the story ends... and now it's like an Agatha Christie with the last page missing.

Now I'm going to have to check this thread every one hour till you post an update (or I fall asleep, whichever comes first ).

                            Day 4 contd.
Guys, as you have seen that roads are non existent and the surroundings are devoid of greenry, this will make you drive slow as you do not want to taste the mud and the 'greenry' part will have such an affect that you will tend to be depressed. Such is the importance of greenry, or your near and dear ones in your life. As Mr. X joins me and signals me to join him and zooms off, I take my own sweet time in wearing my backpack, helmet, gloves, etc. and start riding again. It was already 02:15 p.m. and I was famished, but hell who cares I am not gonna ride on those roads forever, so I take my own sweet time getting ready for the ride and the ride itself is awefully slow. We were riding at quite an altitude but riding a bike with all the gears (especially riding jacket) does make you feel the heat. The sun was beating down on us and I think I must have covered the distance (22- 25 Kms) to Tabo in an hour. There was a lot of activity in Tabo and I kind of liked that, as you hardly see people over there. I soon locate Mr. X and he said that he was beginning to feel little worried as I have taken too much time reaching Tabo. He had already located a place to eat and safely park our bikes just outside the dhaba. The food (we had North Indian) was awesome, it's just that they take too much time preparing it. Mind you nothing is "basa" (stale), everything is prepared fresh and thus the time factor. We were enjoying our butt break and out came some spirits and we were quite 'happy'. Well I don't know why but I did not click any snaps over there. While leaving the dhaba the owner did mention the famous monastery and even though it was in our list of things to do but we gave it a miss and continued our ride to Kaza.

Well I must confess guys that this was the "bestest" part of the entire journey to and fro. Even though its a personal choice as some guys might differ, but I saw such natural beauty that all that pain, fatigue, etc etc was gone. As, I don't know why, Mr. X will zoom ahead and never stop but at Kaza and I would stop every now and then trying to capture whatever I can through a small camera, the result is that Mr. X reaches Kaza 25- 30 minutes before me, but 'hey' who cares!

I will stop in b/w Tabo & Kaza at 04:30 p.m., some pichaas:-

After 30 minutes of more riding I reach here:-

Well guys the ride continues and after 10 more minutes I see:-

                            Exactly 20 minutes later:-

The last set of pictures were taken at 06:00 p.m. and soon I reached Kaza. Last set of pictures, clicked from our room balcony (at 06:45 p.m.):-

Night night people, day 4 is almost done and over with. I just want to share few more views and that will be done tomorrow, no more pichaas for day 4.
                            TC!
