Excellent... it will be the trip of a lifetime. Every timezone has a different landscape. This country has been blessed with abundant natural beauty. You'll find that 12 days may not be enough to see most of it.

I did NY - SFO - NY, 10 years ago, but by car. Its an amazing experience.

Have been wishing to do the trip again on bike but will probably have to quit my job to really do the trip. Who knows, may be I'll do that.

    Has the route been finalized..??

Maybe, We can meet when you are in NY. Let me know your schedule.
Or we can have a G2G, if there are more xBHP members in the NY metro area & if time permitting for you, we can have a group ride.

And yes, it is a K1600GTL.

Irene lost some of its intensity when it reached NY. There was more flood damage than by wind. NYC metro area is back to normal.

Some places that were hard hit by Irene are mostly interior towns in New Jersey, Upstate New York (catskills).
In Vermont, North Carolina, etc some connecting roads have been washed away by floods and some towns are totally cut off and food & supplies are being sent by air.

But most of it should be fixed by the time Sunny reaches east coast.

It is For sure a K1600GT/L but a black one instead of the silver metallic. Weird since i figured it only came in silver or blue

Those sidecases and keys paints the picture...

To Grand Canyon on the BMW GTL K1600.

Did 730 kms from Los Angeles to a town called Williams on Route 66 today. The GTL was an absolute delight. It has literally no vibrations and sometimes that you riding an electric powered bike and on very smooth roads - like a hovercraft.

It is HEAVY though. I have never ridden such a front heavy bike before, and it does take a lot of careful maneuvering on city roads, especially taking u turns and navigating on gravel. But the weight disappears completely once it is on the move.

The bike's got cruise control, a comfy seat, heated handle bar and rear seats. One of the best parts was listening to the satellite radio channels at speeds of 130 kmph, which sounded pretty decent (even at that speed).
