The route for the Across America Ride, 2000 kms done so far, 4000 kms remaining!

Wow. Great going sunny. You are undoubtably on one of the best bikes in the world today and riding on one of the most coveted routes. Sure america needs to be explored thru its backroads, but why bother when this itself will be a lot of fun.

Well said DADA. Yesterday i had a same view when i was commuting back but my mobile can was unable to capture the beauty. Unlucky me!!!

I only stick to the backroads, but at lot of places, especially the mid, it is so flat, that it unbelievably hard to find a road worthwhile riding.

Thats why in the lat three days i did 2000 kms skipping the middle (from Monument Valley to the easy in Nashville, where I am right now in Tennessee ).

And thats how I spent my birthday (thanks to everyone who wished me in Facebook). I did 700 kms day before yesterday.

And another 700 yesterday.

And almost 600 today.

I came to Williams, but just for overnight. Sorry we couldnt meet this time!

Yesterday I did the maximum kilometers, three hundred, on a motorcycle without stopping at all, without putting my foot down even once. No red light. My speed dropped below 100 kmph, only twice in this run. I had to finally stop after 305 kms when the range meter on the BMW K1600 showed 10 miles left until totally empty. My previous best had been 210 kms in Australia on the Hyosung GT650R in 2007 with Kulpreet Singh.

Here I go on an empty straight highway, with the cruise control on the K1600 set to 140 kmph, fighting off sleep, an lo! what do I see! A board saying 'Metropolis, illinois, home of Superman'! Being a Superman fan, i couldnt help but take a detour of 3 miles. Was glad to see a giant statue, a fascinating museum replete with all his enemies and allies! And i got to pose as superman too (see my profile pic). Something turned out to be interesting after all in todays 550 kms!

Hmm... looks like you'll be coming thru biker heaven i.e. Deals gap/Tail of the dragon, followed by Smoky Mountains & Blue Ridge Parkway.

For the uninformed, just search "Deal's Gap' or 'Tail of the dragon' on youtube and you'll know what I'm talking about.
