    Thanks once again.

Yes we do understand that India is very big country to be explored in a sngle tour, what we want to do here is to target an achievment (K2K) in a span of 15 days (I know thats not a record), but it is going to be an accomplishment for ourselves. And in the process we also want to explore as much of country as possible. It is going to be one of the enduring rides of our lives and we want to face the challenge.

1.Taking RE's for a K2K trip sounds interesting but together comes breakdown issues RE's are well renowned to...Since 6-7 bikes better look out for a small LCV just to transport the bike alone ;doing so could help you avoid certain troubles you might possibly face transporting
      2. I think last week of february would do
      3. This is up to the endurance of the group try to make as many rides as possible as a group before the big day see what you are capable of
4 . Bikes !! awesome machine no toll fee carry all necessary documents original and few photocopies of the same viz. DL,RC book , Insurance and the like..
5 .My friend you choose to ride on RE and this mustn't be a question at all no doubt you got to prepare one (No offense RE lovers i myself love them very much)
6 .Will leave this to experts on the forum
7 .Don't worry if you guys stay active on your plans our xbhpians will surely pour in more and more info daily

Do agree with argee's view... Guy's the road condition of NH inside tn is best you can take the NH7 route

        Update - First step done

        Friends,

The first step of the plan has been done. Booked air tickets from Pune-Trivandrum(on 3-Mar) and return from Srinagar-Pune (on 17-Mar).

So the dates our K2K tour have been fixed for 4-Mar to 16-Mar (13 days). So we will effectively be riding average 300-330 kms per day.

We plan to send the bikes by a transporter. Any suggestions ?

3 of us also did a small ride on RE to Tamhini over the last weekend.

Next step - buy the travel gear.

        Thanks,
        Sushil

          Your query answered here -

Is it a point to point driving only? Would you people not be exploring the cities you would be passing. There would be a lot of' must see' places which you cannot miss as you won't be doing K2K Trip again in near future.

Since it is a "large" group, keep atleast couple of days in buffer.

                        Helmets!

Please see to it that the helmets you wear are light (Carbon fibre) ones as the normally heavy (Studds ninja, Steelbirds) ones can take a toll on your necks. There is a danger of developing spondaleisis (however that is spelt) if you are going to travel more than 2000 kms.

                        All the best

                            Bought riding gear

Thanks madhavparashar. We have bought VEGA helmets (the model with inbuilt sunglasses) from Probiker, MG Road (not sure if you that is one you are talkin about)

We also bought DSG jackets and DSG gloves, saddle bags and balcava, and RED CHIEF ankle lenght shoes.

We also covered Pune-Shirdi-Pune (475kms) over last weekend.

Which is best place to get our bullets serviced before the tour ?

                            Regards,
                            Sushil

Were you able to find sponsorship for your ride ? I will suggest, have a word with authorised personal @ Dhone Auto. May be he will be able to guide you. Or at least will assist you to find authorised RE mechanic in your sojourn...
