  • [Photo Feature]: Slow Roast in Rajasthan ....

Riders – Amit Jadhav (amitredefined), Vishwas Mokashi (trustvishwas)
Rides – Kawasaki Ninja 250R Green (Amit) & Black (Vishwas)

Hmmmm … it all started in mid-March when I realized that there is a long weekend coming up in 1st week of April. Picked up phone and spoke to Vishwas Mokashi about 4 days ride plan to Mount Abu in Gujarat. Vishwas said its just like Mahableshwar and nothing exciting about it. So lets plan something big!!!

Vishwas came up with Gujarat plan for 7-8 days around 2800kms. I was not sure because of leaves. Also haven’t taken Ninja for more than 400kms day ride so was bit skeptical about long distance ride, my ability as well as Ninjas touring capabilities. My earlier rides were on Pulsar for 4-5 days and around 1600kms range. But double the distance created doubt in the mind.

Had couple of calls with Vishwas and later he came up with Rajasthan and Kanyakumari plan. We finalized the Rajasthan one for 9 days starting 5th Apr. The estimated travel distance was 3250kms. We met twice for preparations and finalized the list to avoid “great haste makes great waste” or they say “To put the cart before the horse”. In the meantime I got my leaves approved as well. Had some resistance from home, but later it got sorted out.

As the ride day came near, the anxiety started growing. Going to Rajasthan in summer was the biggest challenge. Thought of chickening out but later decided to take the challenge with support and confidence from Vishwas who earlier had done Chennai Pune in 14 hours. Got the saddle bags from Jayant and Tank bag from Eshan. Visited Vishwas place and we had the final meeting on 31st Mar. We had already laid out the plan for each day and also had done almost 80% of our Hotel bookings. We decided to start at 5:30AM from Shivaji Nagar. On 4th Apr, all packed, bike filled with petrol till brim. ODO reading 14340 kms on the bike. ALL SET

Day 1 -- coming soon once the thread is approved

We both are much too lazy to spend time on photography so don't expect very good quality photographs.

I won't; atleast post the pics that you've taken; would like to refresh my memory on the wonderful times I spent on those places. And if you're in any of them, its gives more pleasure to imagine you were there exactly at those places where I'd been

This is Amit's thread and he has all our photographs so let him upload them (rather than me hijacking this thread)

The Pune Nagar highway SH10 was bliss to ride in the early morning. In no time, around 7:16AM, we reached Nagar (142kms). We rode at constant 120-30kmph speed. After 10 kms from Nagar we took our 1st break for 15 mins. We were heading towards Shirdi. Around 20kms prior to Shirdi, the road started getting bad. We reached Shirdi at 8:40AM (221kms). Took a breakfast break for 40 mins.
Letf Shirdi at 9:20AM, the bad road continued for sometime. We were able to maintain 80-90kmph speed and were losing time. We crossed Kopargaon, Yeola, Manmad. We faced lot of cross winds. I was struggling to keep up the speed and overtaking was becoming a nightmare. Vishwas realized this and he gave a tip to ride in cross winds. We reached Malegaon at 10:40AM, filled Petrol and took some break. Left Malegaon at 11AM. The road was single lane but in good condition. All the way long long we were riding on SH10. We reached Dhule at 11:35AM. Distance covered was around 450kms.

The distance covered was around 702kms in 12 hours of riding with breaks (fuel stops -2)
Road condition: Overall Good/Excellent. Only 15kms prior and 20 kms later Shirdi was not good.

P.S - Photos for Day 1... coming up

Just wanted to ask, why didn't you guys leave Pune even earlier, cross Mumbai & take the fantastic route from Manor - Surat - Ankleshwar - Vadodara - Godhra - Udaipur? You could've done that in one single day, very easily isn't it?

However, this is absolutely true. This was the first time I did not reach any location on or before time.
