  • Optimus rides to Hyderabad

After a long time I got to ride. This time to Hyderabad with my college buddy. The road was boring, long and straight. There were intermittent rains and super heavy crosswinds. Winds so strong that we had to ride almost leaning at an angle to keep going straight! Atleast that made the route interesting. We started on Friday morning by 5 and reached there by 4. We were doing mostly around 95 - 100 and took a good number of breaks. My friend who came with me had to attend some meeting for an hour. So we stopped in the middle of no where at a place called Dhone. Actually I could see only the bus stop. It was nice, shady, cool and breezy. He was attending the meeting while I took a nice nap.

On Friday night we went to IMAX to watch "The Dark Knight Rises". Man! What a theatre it is! The screen size is atleast thrice bigger than the normal ones! Where ever you see there is only the screen. You actually have to roll your eyes to cover the entire expanse! 250 bucks was totally worth it. I am sure if it was in Bangalore nothing less than 500 would be the price. I dont know if it was the place I stayed and roamed about but 95% of the cars I saw on road costs atleast 60 lakhs on road! So many BMW, Audi, Rolls Royce, Merc, Volvo, Jag, Lamby, Land Rover and what not! Sigh! The entire place was like built in some hills or something. There were hardly any flat roads for even 200 meters. This may be in the areas where I roamed around too. I totally hated the traffic there. I mean do they even know how to ride? No body crosses 40 or cuts or honks or jumps a signal or stops on the zebra crossing. This includes the buses, autos and cabbies! Believe me or not people were walking on the foot path and two wheelers were on the road! Shouldn't it be vice versa? Maybe they should take some lessons from Bangalore!

Anyways, later I visited the Hussain Sagar lake and did a round of it twice and finally the Birla Mandir. Sunday morning we started relaxed by around 6 and returned home by evening 6. We were riding considerably slower this time. Met a few biking groups and individual riders on the way.

Over all the route was plain boring with hardly any place you can take cover when it rains and the frequency of petrol bunks and eateries is very very less. One good thing is that the bus stops are fantastic to take a break. I was wearing my bag and because of so much of wind, my shoulders started paining. Need to get a saddle bag soon. It was raining on and off for the entire 3 days. So couldn't take many pictures. Here are some.

Seems you guys had a nice trip. Lots of money flowing in Hyderabad, no wonder everyone here trying to save black money in AP. So, you got the taste of Hyderabadi traffic sense.

The IMAX theater's screen is 72 feet high and 92 feet wide. And, its the largest 3D screen in the WORLD. We are really lucky to have it here. And I never miss a chance to watch a movie on this screen.

And, I agree with you, the bus shelters on the highway are very much helpful. You should have got a bungee cord and tied the bag on the pillion seat. Carrying the bag on the shoulders for long rides is very dangerous for the spine and shoulder.

        Thanks for sharing your trip.

          Nice trip there, mate.

As Ravi bhai rightly pointed out, never carry back packs for long tours.
Get yourself some good quality bungee cords to tie your luggage.
Best option is to go for Saddlebags, but they are costly.

I recently suffered massive back ache (bed rest for 3 days) after doing a BLR-CHN to and fro in 30 hours where I'd a laptop bag with my stuff all along.

          Take care. Ride safe.
