  • [Photo Feature]: Kon-canny ride...!!

Best Plan is no plan!!Glad to introduce:-

    The riders & their rides:
Vithoba UtekarMuthesh dharmaChandan GaurMe (Arpit Tank)The route:
Pune-> Tamhini Ghat-> Srivardhan beach (Via Mangao)-> Harihareshwar temple-> Bagmandla-> Local fishermen ferry (yes that counts :P)-> Bankot-> Himmatgarh-> Government run Jetty (:P)-> Back to Pune by same route.

30th June 2012:A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

We were really surprised by some of the curves on the top where the tarmac had been re done (although not with finest levels of finishing), but same time last year it was extremely bad!!

Tamhini Ghat, looking where we rode from!!

On looking Tamhini Ghat from another small Ghat section...after Mangaon.

Some of the roads were just so perfect...

Friendly fire ON!! If you know what I mean! :P

Safety doesn't happen by accident! Ride Safe!!

The konkan strip greeted us with heavy rains leaving the visibility to just few meters.
It was a pleasure to see the reaction of people, watching with their eyes wide open, when everybody had stopped road side, there were these 4 bikers enjoying the welcome showers!!

If you don't ride in the rain, you don't ride!!

The rain followed us till shrivardhan & much to our satisfaction, stopped just when we reached Srivardhan Beach.

    Srivardhan Beach

Although, monsoons are not the best time to visit beaches, but remember!?...its all about the ride )
We stayed near the srivardhan beach for the night. a small guest house called...Nivant...which means relaxed, & it indeed was!!
Although we being drenched in rain, our rooms rather looked like a laundry house :P, but it felt like we had earned this night's sleep.

    1st July 2012:
06:30 - We left for harihareshwar temple, the road was beautiful with green cover both sides. It was absolute fun to ride on those empty stretches!!
    Enroute harihareshwar temple.

We parked at the temple parking, went for the darshan. But to our disappointment the pradakshina stairs over the hill top was closed due to some recent accidents.

We just sat there watching the violent sea, the sound of waves hitting the rocks was like music to ears!! Sitting there we could easily forget, what we did for a living. We got to the foot hill & saw that the way up top is really steep & given that it had just rained, it would have been a real scare had our tires not had been in good shape!!

    Waiting for the jetty

Look at the tyres & engine cowl!! Dirty!!

Heading back. Vile Bhagad MIDC road...after riding down from Tamhini ghat...a loooong stretch, you can try to test your top speeds!!

    Tamhini ghat again!

Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly!Life is a book, if you do not travel...you are stuck on a page!!

    Ride Safe...
    Arpit

Ankit.. words fail me... I just wish I had enough experience / exposure on riding the Ghats, in the rain etc. I am still struggling with the Duke even during light drizzle..really scared to cross 30 kmph or shift to 4th gear..

The winding road tempts me to find places where I could take my Duke... simply awe inspiring .. How did the Duke fare during this ride, especially the rear tire ?

                      Thanks sivigshankar...
Even I was a little apprehensive initially...on riding in the rain...but during a recent track session with duke, my confidence in the bike increased many folds...believe me...have faith on your bike....it was planted all the time, & the route really gave me the chance to take her upto the limits & I realized that the duke has got much more capabilities than I do...you just have to be in the correct gear...the rear tyre did not loose traction even on those wet surfaces...except for some delibrate attempts...:P
                      Thanks again...glad u liked it..
-Arpit is the name by the way, not ankit :P...
