        Day 5

        DAY 5 - JULY 14TH

i started at 6:30 from udaipur, and after riding for some distance found that someone had stolen 2.5-3 liters of fuel from the parking.(another lesson learnt)

        scary isnt it ??

this machine runs a sugarcane juice machine with its engine .

aFter clicking this pic above i called up my company to inquire when i had to report in Mumbai. i was relieved to hear that i had to call after 2 more weeks to know about the status.so now, leh - ladakh go a green signal (else i had to return back from Delhi)

and my p220 completes 10k on odo

i had to reach gurgaon by 8pm so had no stops, no breaks.
        did 310kms in 5 hours.

roads were beautiful on udaipur-jaipur route. after jaipur there were numerous diversions due to construction of over bridges/by passes

                DAY 9 - july 18th

i had a good and comfortable stay at my friends place but the next day i had some stomach trouble , (maybe Delhi after effect)..so i decided to rest the next day and left chandigarh on 18th july 6:30 AM..

destination- my dad's place in a border town (in J&K).

after staying in Bangalore for more than 6 years , i saw a city that was better planned in almost all the ways.
i had no difficulty finding my friends place , i dint even call him for directions. traffic is ok in evenings, but no traffic jams like Delhi,Mumbai or Bangalore, and here even the pillion has to wear a helmet
Chandigarh - land of bullets (RE) and babes

i took the hoshiarpur-pathankot route for reaching jammu.

i had just stopped near the gurudwara for some pics , but the priest asked me to have some food , i cudnt refuse. i had few bowls of butter milk .

i felt relaxed and calm in the gurudwara and liked the peaceful environment .

                few kms before pathankot.

                finally in J&k ...

i reached at the camp where my dad stays and the sentry stopped me for enquiry . and he asked qhether my father knew about my arrival, i said "no" and requested him to tell from the post .

dad spoke to me and he was literally pissed off "yeh kya c#()t!**panti hai ??"...i was little scared but then said" lets sit and talk"...i was let inside then.

i parked my bike and saw dad coming out for a walk with his senior and he introduced me to him. i sensed a little pride in his voice when he introduced me ...

after that i kept my luggage at my dad's place , the soldiers there were surprised to see someone riding all the way from Bangalore.
few did ask me about my journey and further plans .

after a short chat , i went back and freshened up.

i was browsing net when my dad was back from walk and then he asked " why did you tell mom that you were in goa for a bike ride??"..i answered that i dint want to lie to her and if i had told that i was riding alone she and you(my dad) would have been worried , so i used to call mom twice everyday so that she would'nt be tensed.

and then next question" aur fir, aage ka kya plan hai ? "

                TO BE CONTINUED.....

                  day of shocks and surprises

and later that day i discussed each and every detail of my ride with my dad .
he arranged accommodation for the entire trip as per my itinerary.

he also informed mom that i was with him.

as per plan i had to join other 4 bikers coming from Delhi (arunlee,B7ACKTHORN)from XBHP and 2 riders from BCMT.

so for the next 3 days i had a break and my bike got some attention. she got the first wash after Bangalore, did chain tightening, cleaned air filter, wheel alignment, spark plug cleaned.

                  DAY 13 - July 22
as per plan i had join the 4 wanderers in udhampur , i started at 5:00am
                  7:00am-jammu
                  8:30am udhampur

i kept calling the group leader but there was no response, thinking they might be sleeping i reached udhampur , but when i called from udhampur the phone was switched off..

thinking the phone may be out of charge i continued towards Srinagar , had lunch at ramban.

since there was still no response , i left a message at TCP for the team (thniking there was some problem with leader's phone ).

                  THE INFAMOUS KHOONI NAALA

after crossing banihal i took a small break and gave updates to my dad , as i was about to start i saw 4 bikes passing by . they had TN and DL reg so i had strong feeling this was the group i was supposed to join.

i started immediately and overtook them and inquired why there wasnt any response (by that time i had lost patience and was little irritated).

the leader(neeraj) told the phone was in one of the bags and since there was no point having discussion at that moment , we just carried on.

                  blue p180(wilson),blackp220(me), red p220 (vijay),black220 sf (arun), dazzler(neeraj)

                  INSIDE JAWAHAR TUNNEL

FIRST VIEW POINT OF KASHMIR VALLEY

THE GROUP ..FROM LEFT - NEERAJ(LEADER),ARUN AKA ARUNLEE (XBHP),WILSON,VIJAY(B7ACKTHORN)

DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY REALLY LOOKING AT !!...

                  PADDY FIELDS IN KHANABAL

after reaching Srinagar , i came to know wilson had made arrangement for accommodation (at dal lake) and even i had got arrangements done for the group, but as wilson's accomodation was complimentary ( in a house boat at dal lake ) and even i dint want to cancel the arrangement as my dad had taken some trouble for getting it done.

so i we headed towards respective accommodations and decided to start early morning .

i reached at my room by 10:00pm and after having dinner i was about to sleep , when i got a call from vijay.
he asked me if i had any idea about neeraj's camera ( prosumer cam worth 17k), to which i replied no. that day we had stopped near khanabal for a break and clicked some snaps , and after reaching Srinagar the camera was found missing.

It so mesmerizing and courageous man. You've certainly got army stuff in your blood

I recently bought my first bike, although I'm new at this and it will probably take me years to get to you guys' stage, there are a couple of questions always nagging me

How do you guys get so much free time? as in 30 days, 40 days? how? how!!
And where do guys stop for rest(rest as in proper sleep??) 'generally'? I mean while crossing certain states which are just part of journey, where do you make accommodation?
