Great. I knew it wrongly. :P

    Sorry brother. Sincere apologies.

Anyways, Bikers matter, bike does not. And this ride is a proof of the same.

The three bikes were Karizma , Platina & Thunderbird (in uniform format) ...... and all of them reached the destinations, safe, sound. By the way, its my personal opinion, on a journey, its easy to reach destination with proper planning, and stop-gaps. What we need to know is our abilities and our machines abilities. Once we are aware of the same, all destinations become achievable.

The blog is yet to reach Kolkata, thanks to my ill-health. Stay tuned.

        Reaching the city of Joy

Well, we woke up and got freshened up by 4:15 am. It was too cold. We slept under the open sky that night and could find droplets of water all over my dresses. I did not take off the jacket while sleeping. After a quick tea, we started off. It was a smooth drive and taking into consideration the road condition, we were driving at comfortable speed zone. We reached the place to get the beautiful view of Chilka lake. Well, worth stopping for half an hour. I was ready for some memorable snaps to capture.

        Aravind's Karizma:

        Kaleem Sir:

        Yours truly's:

Got sms from Bhaskar Jyoti Das and call from Satyajit Ray Chaudhuri and from many other fellow bikers from Kolkata. Its always great to be back to your hometown, but on such special occasions when people are eagerly awaiting for you, you really feel good... better... in fact, amazing.

Me and Aravind tried to update our latest location in Facebook to keep our friends updated. We crossed Jaleswar border without any trouble, though we expected a bit. This border area is infested with high truck density, so we had to slow down.

This is the first glimpse of West bengal as we crossed the border. Well, I received the very best sms from the service provider" Welcome to West Bengal. We wish you a pleasant stay over here".

I remember Sam, Bhaskar, Anant, Ayan and the entire gang calling me again and again. In between, the nightmare of Kolaghat bridge started. Traffic, off-roading and we thought that this is the worst way to welcome someone in Kolkata.

Well, our thoughts changed soon. It was Azad Hind Dhaba, Uluberia. The gang was waiting for us.

We never expected that we will get such a grand welcome from Biking fraternity of Kolkata. Those guys were waiting for us for 4 long hours on the highway to welcome us. Rasgullas were raining to welcome us. Thanks to each one of you who made our day and treated us like kings.

The gang guided us till Bally Bridge. We crossed Uttarpara-Hindmotor (well, the birthplace of HM ambassador) and entered Konnagar. My parents and local friends were awaiting for us.

Ate and slept.. that's it... On-ward journey done... what was in store? well, lots........

Few highlights: All my long drives are incomplete without Motul engine oil, which I have been using for rides since long back. Sincere thanks for such a flawless product.

Let me know how did you like this journey.

SRC is signing off for sometime.

        Sayonara!!!

Thanks guys for the awesome treatment. I think the best place to meet with riders is the highway and getting such a warm welcome while entering the city of Joy is something I shall cherish for the days to come. As already mentioned, roadside dhabas and not the five start hotels makes the best place for the G2G and well, you guys did that for us. I am sure, on coming days, I shall make lot of roadtrips to Kolkata and would love to catch up with you all on the way.

                  Cheers.

I planted the tree before I left for Karnataka for my job.. good to see the flowers in it.

                          Nide Ride and pictures Sakshar.
You seem to have ridden on some very smooth tarmac.
And, thanks for the update on Hyderabad-Vijayawada Highway. Good to know that it is so awesome now.
Even my 60 yr old Uncle has done that 270km in just about 3 and half hours, with a break, on his Nissan Sunny at a constant 160.
That was the Highway I have driven the most on, in cars anyway. I learnt Highway discipline on those 2 lane Highway (It was a narrow 2 lane highway untill almost last year.)
The last I driven on it was in March, and It was under construction. I could see that it would turn into a great highway one day.
But, Somewhere in my Heart, I miss the old 2 lane highway. Driving at just around 40-50, in Bumper to bumper traffic. Overtaking by crossing into the opposite lane. That Highway might have made some flawless drivers till date.
I did learn a bit from that as well. Ill still miss it, especially compared to the monotonous journey on these 4 lane'rs. I feel, the fun is just lost.
Anyways, One think that makes me happy is that, The number of accidents would reduce. Thank God for that __/\__.

Thanks for your comment. Appreciate the reply of yours in this travelogue. Thanks. Actually, I am a big fan of Kaleem Sir and his rides and it was a pleasure riding with him. During conversations with him, he mentioned that he rides a 125 cc Platina. I am posting this comment just for the sake of clarification. I am a farm believer of " Riders matter,Bike doesn't".
