While returning from Lokhandi,i was not at all disappointed.Because the beautiful landscapes i encountered were simply majestic. To move ahead towards Lakhamandal,i returned to Chakrata..Before moving ahead i wanted to be sure about the diversions which i might encounter ahead.Because the locals advised that the road ahead is equally lonely as the Chakrata-Mussorie road was.I stopped in Chakrata and striked conversation with a guy to be aware of the next three diversions atleast.

Road ahead was not at all pleasant..with lot of gravel, dips and turns..restricting me to go fast .

I stopped quite frequently to admire the virgin beauty of the place.

The entire route was deserted,Didn't found a single vehicle in the 40 Kms stretch. Was quite hungry and just when i stopped for this poser shot,I saw a small tapri in the village ahead.

When i asked the lady for the lunch(its not the lady i wanted in lunch,i was talking about food..mind the Hindi medium English :P),she told me that 'there is nothing available for lunch'.Then i saw these big eggs (Chicken eggs ) and asked the lady if she can cook Omlette for me,she hesitated for a while but upon my humble request she agreed to brew some fresh tea as well .She prepared Bun Omlette and believe me it was so tasty that i ordered one more.

Meanwhile a local college going boy approached me for a lift,he told me..he is having some family emergency in Dehradun and he is walking from morning from the last village i crossed 10-15 kms back.Well, that was quite a story..but i pushed back myself..because road wasn't that good..extra load can cause some trouble to my bike..or may be if bike slipped..i might get away scratch less thanks to the riding gears..but he might get harmed badly..I initially said NO,but later on offered him the lift as his story sounded genuine.

I was riding quite slow though,Last 16 kms stretch to Lakhamandal was covered in more than 1 hour. Finally we reached the main highway and i left him, this was the main highway for reaching Yamnotri. He thanked me and went on his way,but before that i asked him to take this poser shot of me :P

I continued on the highway towards Yamnotri and reached Barkot..from where i had to take the diversion towards Dharasu Bend.Initially i planned to go Yamntori as well, but due to that 2 days delay because of Indian Railways,I had to drop the Yamnotri plan :/

By seeing those ice capped peaks, how tempted i was to visit Yamnotri..But as the spiritual public says "Hoi hai wahi jo ram rachi rakha ko kari tarak baravahin sakha "

    Another one with better views

Road from Barkot to Dharasu Bend was very good, quite scenic and full of trees

I reached Dharasu bend by evening and stopped for a much needed tea and Sutta break. My bum was hurting badly, after effects of not riding in Indian roads for many months

While having tea,I made my mind to halt in Uttarkashi for the night.Wanted to meet our fellow patron Tilak sir in Uttarkashi, but he was out on another Mega adventure.

I reached Uttarkashi in an hour and found a hotel on the main road.Name of the hotel was 'Hotel Bhandari Annexe',Got a nice tidy room for 300 bucks.Went to the market in the night to fuel up,so that i can start early in the morning without any delay .Also, next day was HOLI,so i was expecting everything to be closed

    Cheers

            Day 3 - Uttarkashi - Gangotri - Uttarkashi

This day has finally come, where my excitement was at par.The day when i get to receive blessing from "Ganga Maiya".I packed my stuff and started ahead without wasting any time.

This is where i stayed for the night for 300 Bucks.

Roads were mostly good with few bad patches and these bad patches were due to the land slides.

It was not very far i had traveled and i got blessed with the lovely views of snow capped mountains.

I hadn't eaten anything from the morning and due to Holi, most of the tapri's and restaurants in the villages ahead were closed.Meanwhile i was stopped by few local villagers to celebrate holi..I just exchanged few rounds of gulals and continued ahead.

Road side waterfalls were such a common site in this route.

As i moved towards Gangotri, beauty around me kept on increasing by many folds.

Finally i found an open restaurant in Dharam Band,I order two packets of maggi as i was hungry like a dog. While i was waiting for Maggi,i got in conversation with fellow villagers

            TO BE CONTD

Re: Magical Uttarakhand - 6 Days of Fun and 2 Days of Mess

And the Masala maggi was served..with some vegetable toppings...with lot of water though :/...While i was busy eating my lunch, locals folks were telling some legends of the trekkers who come here and stay for years and trek the entire region.I was least interested in hearing that as trekking was not my stuff :P.They also told me some horror stories in which couple of crazy trekkers died due to their own stupid craziness.I topped up my stomach with a cup of tea at the end and ordered for the bill.70 bucks and full satisfaction.

I started towards Gangotri as clouds had started gathering towards Uttarkashi side.Did not wanted to get drenched in this cold weather.

                          Another waterfall in between.

                          One more

                          And there i was welcomed

These red flowers were very beautiful.

                          So were these...Beautiful isn't it ?

Made it to Gangotri and it was all empty, didn't spotted a single soul around.I was clueless, where exactly is the temple..reached a parking spot..then saw a small gully filled with ice..leading ahead.I took my bike in that gully and luckily found a guy.He was the temple guard,he pointed me to park the bike there itself and come ahead.

                          Pose marne kaa

                          Left my Dhanno halfway

All the places around were closed and were covered in thick layer of snow.Temple of 'Ganga Maiya' was closed and as far as i remember the guard told me that the temple gates will open in May.

Since the temple was closed,I worshiped 'Ganga Maiya' from outside and started my return journey towards Uttarkashi.Entire place looked so heavenly..So divine, that sometimes you have to pinch yourself to tell yourself..'Dude this place and the way you are feeling about it.it is all real'

                          TO BE CONTD

                          Cheers

I was in no mood to return back to Uttarkashi,if only it was possible..I would have stayed there for night.Return journey was bit quicker as i was familiar with the route and have stopped on most of the stops from where the valleys and mountains offered beautiful views.

But,I was wrong.. every time you stare at those beautiful landscapes..you get to see something new..something more spectacular than the previous one and it becomes impossible to stop yourself for taking more and more photo breaks.

                                And Waterfall series continues...

And this was the last pic of the day.I stopped here for around 20-30 mins.Set up my tripod to click some poser shots of me and my darling Dhanno

From here to Uttarkashi,it was a non stop ride affair.I wanted to save some day for myself to do some beer shopping .Reached Uttarkashi by evening and settled on the same lodge..same room for the same amount of INR.

                                Cheers
