Well as said by some great person....TIME HEALS EVERYTHING.

A small story from my side too back from 2006-07.....
Well My love was one sided & thats from my side obviously...

We studied in the same school she was two class junior than me.
But my love for her was way above Mt. Everest...
Unfortunately she hated me like hell....don't know why..
Her home was almost 12-13 Km's away from mine & in those days I only had a Bicycle (which I newly started riding)....and just to get a glimpse of her I rode to her almost everyday, and during sunday's twice a day but during summer vacation & holiday minimum 2-3 times a day.
In those days I was in class 10.
Recently came to know she moved on & got mingled.
I am better single with my Babe...Yammy FZ-S
Just can't get to ride her much as parents don't allowed much.

Hey Ankit no offence buddy !!! Let me guess you must be in your 20 something !!! I have been there done that, its the grey hairs of wisdom which speaks otherwise the country would have been governed by younger ministers
. BTW I do not read love stories...its the roadtrip which intrested me in the log and not the feeling ! Its not about " moving on " its about what life has in store which obviously are better choices. Experience speaks again !

Had India been governed by younger ministers we would have been a little aggressive country which we desperately need to be.
And we wouldn't be paying so much taxes on importing a bike, which is a product of no use to older ministers.
Chinese electronics are dumped in India and other third world nations so usually, but getting even a second hand harley is a problem.

biking heals. There is also a thread by Sunny Gajjar on this same topic whereby he leaves his job and starts biking, and it heals him.... try searching that, its a very nice read.

ankit mishra - Hey, I know the bike is not the main protagonist but wanted to know how was its performance as a supporting actor.

It's not meant to be a tourer, so how did it overcome limitations like- short tank range, stiff suspension and hard saddle, no wind protection and high speed stability?

You are right this bike was not meant to be a tourer, but it performed extremely well on riding all day long. I used to ride her constantly for 12-13 hrs that too at a high speed of 110-120kmph and it didn't show any negativity at all.

Tank Range: is somewhat 300kms. I used to fill it every 250-270kms to be on the safer side.

stiff suspension: Suspension is stiff, not to the extent that we can't manage. and it didn't tire me though.

and hard saddle:
No pain in Back or lower back. No pain in a$$. I guess to ride to long distances you need to sit on a hard seat rather than a soft seat. (i might be wrong, plz verify with senior riders.)

no wind protection: Yes wind protection isn't there. I was constantly cruising at a speed of 110-120 and low speed was 80-90. I was wearing all my gear and whenever i got a little tired i used to crouch on the tank. Though I didn't get tired. I believe you need wind protection at a greater speed say above 170 or 210... else they wouldn't have been making fz1 without the wind protection(plz verify with senior riders). I didn't feel the need of wind protection. And i rode for 12-13 hours on all 4 days.

high speed stability: Yes this bike is stable... very very stable. You won't have any complaint till the speed of 125. After that it requires skill to not to let it nudge by cross winds. Yes cross winds are a botheration as Duke is a very light bike. I used to slow down from 135-139kmph. to 110-120kmph wherever I used to feel wind blast botheration.

I am planning to go to Ladakh this summer and again I would be riding Duke from Mumbai, I am so comfortable with the bike that i don't get tired riding her all day long. Duke has a straight sitting posture which is aggressive if u see the way legs are positioned and hands are positioned its aggressive too. I dont' get tired at all, and I am not exaggerating.

The other bike I am having is R15 version2, it feels great to corner and is super stable at high speeds but due to forward leaning posture I find it tuff to ride her all day long. And so I didn't take her on a cruising trip to Delhi. R15 gives me pain in wrists and arms if I ride her for long distances.

Ooh please dont' curse me for writing this for R15. Its a great bike though, I am also waiting to buy R4-250cc yamaha

Well well well mr Ankit Mishra. I'm amused at the esoteric allegations you have so very willfully crafted against my fine little R15. Such an aristocratic expression of disdainful thoughts on my poor R15 has forced me to take up arms against you. I rode a P200 DTSi (UG3) last Sunday on the Mumbai G2G and was riding at high speeds- the stability was great and only the strongest of cross winds unsettled it at 100+. However wind blast was a huge issue for me at 124 when there were those hot gusts post the ghats. Even at 90-100 it was an issue.…the 200 has a bikini fairing and a visor ...

Riding position is a lil odd and no wonder they say the rider looks like a frog or monkey on a branch! (no offence intended)

Wish you well to get Leh'd!

Even I am apprehensible about D390 as its a rocket to the kind of handling duke offers. Frankly speaking D200 feels little bit unstable at 139kmph and the D390 is going to do 170kmph. I wonder what it would be, And my tech Geek @ajaysthinkin always says that D390 would be dangerous for people owing to the stability if offers. I am not that good with tech, He might be a better consultation.. hehe.

I said I was super comfortable doing speeds of 110-120 kmph whole day long on a D200. No idea of what D390 would be. And about comparing it with Pulsar 200dtsi, well Duke has fatter tyres to compensate that.

About the riding position on a duke, yes it feels odd to the one who just watches it, but it is comfortable to the person who is riding.
In my case, I sit on a Duke like I would sit on a Royal Enfiled, i.e. sitting extremely backwards and with my arms full straightened and back completely erect. That gives a little bit "confident stance" of riding position.
hehe

an addition to the earlier crazy deed series:

she was to come to my place yesterday. i had work till 6 so she boarded an AC bus from navi mumbai at about 6. even after 3 hours, the bus was still crawling at the entry of JVLR road due to heavy rains and water cladding. after 2 hours, she was still at the same place. i started getting tensed.....she wasn't a mumbaiker.....she was on an internship tour for 2 months......the rain...11 am.........sure she would be tensed...............i looked outside, raining ....whatever.....took my keys put the mobile in a plastic bag and into my pocket and off i went to be by her side. Ankit was kind enough to source some very nice 130 section rear tyres for my R15 and boy! it did impress me in those heavy rains. the rubber was flabberglastic so much grip, i didn't even have that on my stock tyres. And handling was even better . By the time i reached her location traffic had started clearing. i parked my bike and ran on to her bus. i could see her face lighten up like a candle. she was soo relieved and wanted to come on the bike. but i didn't want her to ride in rain with her throat pain. so kept following her bus like a crazy dog. it was fun and it was crazy, occassionally pulling up to her window and planting over the air kisses .....it was indeed crazy with all the rain and stuff even though the distance had two zeroes less than ankit's
