The road you refer to is Yellapur Road between Hubli and Ankola, it connects NH4 to NH17, and yes we were fortunate to witness some glorious sunsets.

Finally after 3 weeks of fun, fiesta, friends and lazing around, it was time to leave. To say our goodbyes to our friends, the sea and all the glorious vistas around us. It’s always a little sad to leave Goa, but then duty calls and we need to get back to our routines. And so as an action hero would often say—“We’ll Be Back”!!

The Return Route
Candolim/Panjim/Ponda/Mollem/Ramnagar/Dharwad/Davanagere/Chitradurga/Tumkur/Bangalore.
For many years we had been avoiding this route up to Dharwad as the road condition was disastrous to put it mildly. Our friend Rocky had driven down this stretch recently and told us the road was almost completely re-laid. So we took this route (it’s shorter by about 40+k.m) and it sure was a pleasure to ride through. Lovely green forests and fields and mostly smooth tarmac except for a few patches where work is in progress. It will soon be complete and become a toll fee road (of course bikers are N.A!).

After a truly enjoyable ride through the forest, we are soon at the Dharwad bye pass and on to the good old NH4 and by evening we enter the familiar chaos of our Bangalore city traffic and reach home.

Until The Next Ride, Cheers Guys!!

You got it wrong buddy! This Ramnagar is not the same as Sholay Ramanagaram that is on the way towards Mysore. The Sholay Ramanagaram is a rocky and hilly area unlike the Ramnagar near Londa which is in the western ghats that is usually lush green.Originally posted by chaosaddict View PostSir, that Ramnagar is the same one as Sholay, right?? - the road looks a bit different!

'will include this in future. BTW, the rocky and hilly Ramnagar was not bad either. In fact, we had a great time there - climbing & trackin'

Thank you for the kind words! As BlrGuy has mentioned it's a different Ramnagar (On the way from Mollem to Dharwad, near Londa). Since you mentioned Ramangaram- which is quite near to Bangalore on the BLY/MYS road, I'd like to narrate a little flashback. It was sometime during the 70's when Sholay was being shot near Ramanagaram and a few of us on three bikes (A Jawa, a Rajdoot and a Lambretta scooter) decided to ride down and watch the shooting. As luck would have it, when we went there they were shooting the scene where Amitabh Bachan is dying after being shot and we were lucky enough to witness the shooting of that vital scene! Little did we know then what a colossus hit Sholay would turn out to be!!Originally posted by chaosaddict View PostSir, that Ramnagar is the same one as Sholay, right?? - the road looks a bit different!

Sir, now that flashback is really something!! - not that I am into it, I was not even known to this amusing world and you have actually experienced such glaring moments with your bike,, Respect!. And to think of it, we were just playin' there few months back. That place is a bliss - quiet & satisfying, a perfectly quick weekend getaway/ride!!Originally posted by ridermax View PostSince you mentioned Ramangaram- which is quite near to Bangalore on the BLY/MYS road, I'd like to narrate a little flashback. There were very few bikes those days and I was fortunate to be among a group of friends with bikes and did get around quite a bit!
