Wow those hairpins look alluring! Seems like it was more of an enduro ride with the harsh weather and all. Eagerly waiting for Day 2!

BTW, how did the red Avenger do? Top speed? Handling et all??

Hope you guys did not have a tough time keeping up with that Cruiser .
Thanks man.. I see some one doesnt like cruisers

Avenger does hate off roads, but Mohan managed very well! The main problem is every impact is felt on your ass/back when you ride at such a posture.

Yup, it was a proper enduro ride, but with a mix of everything from 4 lane highway to 8 feet wide forest trails

I own Avenger 200cc . Please ask your mate to set the rear suspension on 3rd pin and that would take off the impact. I just did it.

            Day 2 :

Our plan was to freshen up and get ready for breakfast by 730am and be on the road by 830. We calculated the expenses post breakfast, settled hotel bills & we were all set to go by 840am.

Let the pics do the talking..

            Mohan enjoying the corners..

RTR eagerly waiting for the corner ahead

View at another stop later on the way,

Canute, you and your bike looks so small!

            Pose hero Vinay

The waterfall.. It was mentioned that it has some medicinal qualities..

            The other part of it..

            Attention! …. Stand at ease..

            Fog everywhere...

            Bikes posing happily!

Srikanth, too happy to be here

            Ah, my engine

Here we found two guys on a pulsar whose chain had slipped from both the sprockets! To open engine cover, it needs an 8mm spanner which none of us had so we suggested them to look for help at the home stay which was less than half a kilometer away.

This is where it happened, looks haunted!

Water crossing the road! There were countless waterfalls all along the way..

            Off roading!

            Me,

            Canute,

Canute is really good at offroading, also the enfield being heavy also helps in maintaining stability I guess Initially I wasnt very comfortable but later on, just stood on the footpegs and rode as if it was a highway , luckily the bike could take all the abuse. Vinay was a extra careful throughout the off roading stretch since he had faced problems riding on that stretch previously.

We came across scorpios and other tourist vehicles with a puzzled look on their face as to what these bikes were doing on such roads & that too overtaking them at ease

Also while clicking at one of the puddle crossings, I parked my bike on the edge of the road, put the side stand down, let go of the bike & down it goes! So i keep my left leg down & down went both of us... PICHKK!! Fell right on the marshy area. I could see leeches crawling but I had to wait till Canute came for the rescue since I couldnt move as the bike was on my left leg. I cleaned myself up at the next waterfall & hoped that I didnt have any leech or insects.. (Only after reaching home did I see a leech wound near my ankle!)

            A cascade!

            Getting in line for pics

An off road trail which we took..

The lower part of the trail was hard stones & it was a steep incline. So I just accelerated and on crossing the stony part, it is just wet grass & with the my right hand firmly on the accelerator, the rear wheel just spun & down I go again.. THUD!! Later came to know, even Canute dropped his bike in the same place because of same reason!

            Trying to make roads..

            Yours truly, enjoying the nature

Rohit.. was feeling sad for you man, hope the cam is alright now!

            A really happy Srikanth!

So we finally reached Kemmangundi but nothing was really visible due to fog.
We had lunch at a small restaurant here. (That building behind the one in the pic is the actual restaurant, took us some time to figure out where it was )

            Grass coated tree!

            Dont mess with me!

We decided to skip Z-point as we would find it similar to be any other view point, full of fog & since one needs to walk to reach Kalhatti falls, we decided to skip it too. So nothing else to do other than head back to Blore.

It was quite uneventful for sometime. We occasionally stopped for fuel & our group of six would get split up in between due to traffic. So it was me and canute in the end and rest four were quite ahead. I stopped for fuel and Canute said his bike seems to have a problem and it doesnt go above 80kmph! But later we decided to check again and see if the problem persists. But it seemed fine. So we were trying to catch up with others. Canute was a little ahead of me..

When all seemed to be going well, suddenly my heart started racing by what I saw in front of me!! A biker's nightmare come true!

A rider lying on the road along with his crashed possession...

            To be continued...

                  Day 2 : Part 2

I see Canute park his bike and run towards him.. I could not make out who it was from distance but man, was I scared!! There was a truck parked which was slightly damaged on the front!

I stop my bike, get a glance & breathed a small sigh of relief knowing it wasnt one of us, but still it was someone! Someone was waiting for him at his home.
Canute comes to me and says "Hope we can save him, it looks really serious!!"

The sad part was there were around 10 villagers and none of them had the courtesy to call ambulance or even help him a little.
He was lying on the road unconscious bleeding continuously from his head & they were just watching!

We must've arrived at the scene a few mins after it happened. It looked like the truck rammed his bike from behind, but we cared least of who was the actual culprit or how it happened and were trying to help him out asap.

Canute had a first aid kit with him and we quickly got to it, while being watched by villagers as if it was a movie!! Both of us blasted them until one of them called the ambulance.

A local woman started helping Canute with tying a bandage and stop the bleeding and I was trying to direct traffic since all of them wanted to watch as much as possible without even remotely offering help!, causing jams. Luckily people listened to us, most probably because they thought we were part of some special rescue team, looking at our riding gears!

We were not sure if we have to use antiseptic/tincture on his head or not since it could directly go inside his head! After some confusion, we just tied the bandage securely.

Once it was secured, he slowly started gaining consciousness! Phew!! What a relief!

Apart from head injury, he had lost some skin on his arms. He could barely speak and we asked him if he felt pain anywhere else, but it looked like he was fine.
He drank a little water and we hoped he would make it now!

We dont know what happened to the truck driver, but that is for the villagers to find out.

In 5 more min, a fire truck came on the scene which was apparently the nearest rescue vehicle. Some cops came on the scene too.

Now that he was in safe hands, we left and wished he would recovery quickly. We dont know how conscious he was but hope he remembers us telling him to wear helmet always in the future! Which couldve completely avoided the current situation he was in!

The bike looked like the entire chassis would have to be replaced since the rear portion of the bike was vertical!

Even in that unfortunate incident, I consider him extremely lucky for us to have found him at the right time or I dont know what would have happened due to excessive bleeding!

Also since few villagers had seen the accident happen, there was no scope for them to put the blame on us, which is the usual immature & ridiculous tendency with people, that the one who helps is the one who caused it! Which was one of the main reason why villagers didnt help initially I guess!

I believe this is the perfect example of Butterfly effect! You know why?

Tell me, what is probability of getting first aid help in a remote area from someone who was 300kms away from his home & him being the only person in the group who had the first aid kit & that he wasnt with his fellow riders because his bike wasnt going above 80?? Had Rohit not planned the ride, had Canute not joined the ride? There are too many possibilities for us not being there!
But yes we were there and that is what mattered in the end.

Anyways, we both were pretty shook up & we rode slowly till we caught up with the rest of our group who were wondering what took us so long. We spent next few mins narrating the incident, much to their bewilderment!

This is what I meant on the first log, how Canute earned special respect from all. He immediately helped the victim without so much as thinking twice & he reacted extremely quickly almost like a paramedic!

The problem in Canute's bike resurfaced again after a few kms. This time the bike wasnt starting. A local mech who was passing by saw us & was also trying to find the issue. We later found that it was the case of bent fuel pipe (the pipe from fuel tank to carburettor) & straightening it solved the prob!

After this it was a smooth ride for the rest of the journey.

We continued our ride and found a decent snacks/tea shop. Some final pics at the last meet up point. We had chats/tea and made the final settlement of expenses.

                  Some fun moments there..

Staring contest between Canute and Srikanth :bs:

                  Some joke

Later part of the ride was pretty much cruising. We were 90kms from Tumkur and from then on we decided not to take a lot of breaks. Canute was tailing as it was easy for everyone to identify the flood lights on his bike! & thus be sure that all of us are together or it is difficult to identify the tail riders at night. We rode constantly at the range of 60-75kmph since it was a single lane road & thus everyone getting max mileage

Once we reached the highway, it was a straight run towards Blore. We met up at NICE rd junction for final goodbyes.

Three helmetless maniacs doing wheelies on Nelamangala toll road that too in opposite lane tried to remind us why the Delhi incident actually took place. Cant imagine how the situation would be with 30 such nincompoops!!

Anyways, it was time our little escapade got over and we returned back to our mundane daily routines...
So our ride ends with memories of great fun and adventure and a sense of satisfaction of helping someone in need which most probably also saved his life!

Until next time... Ride safe everyone..

You guys did a great job by helping the accident victim. I really appreciate it. God bless you guys! I don't why but most of the mindset of the people is to gather around accident scenes/victims and just stubbornly stand there and watch, or even worst, take pictures and videos of the incident. None of them would bother to help or call for help. This needs to change, but i guess it will take a long time. What we can do is to take this up individually - help the victims - and then the change would eventually come.

And yes that is the mindset of people. Hopefully at least a few spectators that day might have changed after seeing how the first aid helped victim regain consciousness.
