• [Photo Feature]: Monsoon in Maharashtra - 2013 series

Maharashtra is magical in Monsoon and everything turns gold during this season. Always wanted to create a thread showing the true beauty of Maharashtra and finally glad that I'm doing it for this season

This is my 5th year in Mahrashtra and even after travelling extensively I feel that I haven't covered 10% of what this state has to offer

This will be a photolog with description given for each picture. The pictures are clicked during various rides in the past 3 months. Will keep on adding pictures as and when I process the other pictures that I have

I should be roughly posting 120 pictures from this season and unlike my other Tourer section thread I will complete this thread in the next 20days

Riding on top of the world. This picture is clicked while going towards Panhala, a hill station through a off-beaten path

Middle of the forest, no one in the vicinity and probably a road which no one uses = True exploration
This is somewhere near the Maharashtra border bordering Goa and Karnataka

Finding peace and solitude away from the city.
This place is clicked near Tilari reserve which is known to only a handful people

A beautiful sunset by the Tapola Lake
    Tapola Lake, Near Mahabaleswar, Maharashtra

Orange says - I love these stops when I feel a part of the nature
The lake in the backdrop is called Urmodi, near Kaas Plateau

Even a small food joint brings a lot of relief once you are riding through unexplored roads with no traffic or food for hours
This is clicked on SH130 joining Sawantwadi and Dodmarg in Maharashtra on a very foggy day and no we didn't rode on this state highway, we surfaced here from the unexplored
The name of the place is Tilari Nagar.

Not sure which way to take!
Till the time I don't have a Go Pro an umbrella will always come for rescue so that I don't miss that important moment

Some random wet village in the interior of Maharashtra

With monsoon almost over, this is the bloom time in Maharashtra
Kaas is valley of flower which offlate have become very popular but there are many other places like this where you can enjoy the bloom. The name of this place is Medha

Natures own garden. A splendid of the fields and Pawna Lake in the horizon from Lohagad vilage
Lohagad is famous for its fort and is very near to Lonavla

I haven't made an exact count but the number of prominent dams and lakes in Maharashtra will be more than 100, and a great Monsoon means all the dams are full
This is Pawna Dam just 40km from Pune in its full glory

If i am correct there are over 1, 800 dams in Maharashtra. I remember back in College one of my professors told me that if we add the small dams to the list then it is 5,000.

              great photography as always MG

                        Set 2

                        Colours of Monsoon
This is clicked beside the Dajipur Talao Dam, Radhnagri

A destination which is hidden even in the map
This is on way to Raireswar Fort, a place which is not known by many. This is the view that one get when they reach at the top

The road through the Radhanagri forest reserve
This road is full of twisties and surprisingly even in middle of monsoon the road was in excellent condition

                        Golden Light
This is an closed railway crossing for vehicular movement just beside the Mumbai - Pune expressway near Kamshet where a bike can just sneak in. Light is generally amazing in the evening by the end of Monsoon

                        The green eye therapy

This is how the Varandha ghat looks in monsoon. One of the best places to visit during monsoon.
Weather changes almost every hour from misty to foggy to rains to relatively clear to appreciate the view around which is also seen in this picture

The following pictures are also from Varandha ghat. Notice the clouds that are approaching the road in the first picture

The twin hills of Varandha ghat
Prized capture when you are in the middle of peak monsoon and this area is either foggy or having heavy downpour

                        Orange at the top
Another picture clicked just before reaching the Raireswar top

Green is the colour of this season
View from Gudal ghat on way to Kolhapur from Radhanagri National Park

The beast comes alive, bringing me back to life
A tap to shift and flick of the wrist

Kill the silence, tear apart the dark
