Re: Monsoon in Maharashtra - 2013 series

    Set 4:

A magical sunrise just on the outskirt of small town called Satara on NH4
    Satara, SH58, Maharashtra

Be a part of the windmill farm
This is clicked at Chalkewadi, Asia's largest windmill farm

I'm the keeper of this bloom

A dreamy setting on way to Medha

Freshly laid tarmac atop a hill
This is on way to Dhom dam from Raireswar Fort

One of the most difficult and fun ride this season while climbing this ghat section which was completely slushy and finding traction was really difficult

Sea of green and an orange speck
This is on way to Tapola from Mahabaleswar

    The flying clouds
Clicked at Kasarsai Dam, Behind Hinjewadi

Riding solo you always misses out in getting your own pics clicked
But then are some places when you cannot avoid posing along with the bike, this is one such place
    Windmill farm near Tarali, Maharashtra

    Orange Green and Blue
This is other side of Bhatghar dam
Luckily got superb lighting even in peak monsoon, the Dam is full and brimming with water
    Bhatghar Dam, Bhor, Maharashtra

Re: Monsoon in Maharashtra - 2013 series

Before I post the next set of pictures here are some details of what I did this season.
Total number of lakes that I covered in the period of July to Sep -19
          1) Shivajisagar Lake – The biggest and also my favourite, one of those dams where you are riding with the Dam for most of time and there is a road to do full circle of the same. Starts from Tapola and ends at Koyna
          2) Pawna Lake – Although a part of this is popular and hence commercialized but rest is spectacular. Lots of places of and forts to explore around. Just off Kamshet on the Mumbai – Pune highway
          3) Tarali Dam – Although you get to see very less of the dam water but the route is special because of the endless windmills you have for company
          4) Bhatghar Dam – The Dam water is hidden from everyone and the road which leads to the dam water is used by very few people and hence you are always one with the Dam. The other side of Bhor
          5) Andhra Dam – An interesting dam with a beautiful bridge over it. This Dam is next to the Thokarwadi Dam
          6) Thokarwadi Dam – One of the bigger dams in the Kamshet area with windmills around it
          7) Kasarsai Dam – A small one but generally have very decent bird population in and around it. Behind Hinjewadi Software Park, Pune
          8) Kanher Dam – This dam is beside Satara town
          9) Nira Deoghar Dam – One of the twin Dams of Bhor and this is on the other side of it. A part of it is visible from Bhor – Mahad route
          10) Dhom Lake – A popular one and many have seen pics of it from Panchgani
          11) Kaas lake – The smallest of all the lakes, find its name because of the now popular name Kaas plateau
          12) Dajipur Talao – Surprisingly this is the Dam which has the lowest water level even after so much rains this season. Besides Dajipur Sanctuary
          13) Tilari Project – Difficult to explore, a part of it is visible. On way to Goa from Belgaum
          14) Tilari Dam– Difficult to explore, a part of it is visible. On way to Goa from Belgaum
          15) Urmodi Project – One of the many dams around Satara. This one gets on way to Kaas
          16) Rakashop Dam – The Dam leading to the two Tilari projects, there are only slushy trails which takes you near the Dam waters
          17) Balakwadi Dam – Opposite Dhom Lake, and missed by most
          18) Veer Dam – Just touched, couldn’t explore much this season. Near Shirwal on NH4
          19) Bhama Askhed Dam – Sadly crossed this in the night time so couldn’t see much. Near Chakan

              Set 5

A view which cannot be missed
              From Tapola, Maharashtra

A narrow trail climbing up the hill
This is on way to Panhala from a different route

A simple image made interesting with the play of light
Just after sunset experienced this magical lighting, well this image is almost unedited and what you see is what I experienced
              Some random village road, Maharashtra

The Dukers meet at the water hole

Flying clouds at the Kasarsai Dam

Looking at the other side of the hill
              Some trail near Bhatghar Dam

A plateau and a temple at the corner
Well this plateau runs for close to 20kms at the top of a hill near Kolhapur

Another view from the top while coming down from Raireswar fort

Flowers by the roadside at Panhala

A beautiful countryside on way to Thokarwadi Dam
This is one of my favourite images from this season and this is also the last Monsoon Ride for this season

Set 6 to follow in few days
