    Re: Exploring Charmadi

Time: 10:15 AM - We were at the base of the Charmadi Ghats. I knew that it was the time I put my camera to full use. I told my fellow bikers to continue forward and not to wait for me because I would be stopping at places to take pictures. And the climb began. The curves were sweet, magical and safe with no traffic. I did think about attacking those curves and not to click any pictures. But..such was the beauty of nature that I could not resist myself . I however did meet the gang in the middle of the Ghats as they also stopped for enjoying and taking pictures of the breathtaking view. Presenting before you the pictures now.

By 11:30 AM I was at the base of the Ghats and found everyone waiting for me . I quickly pulled out my camera again though.

We moved on from there towards Dharmasthala which was around 32 Kms more. After enjoying those curves up there, the road now seemed pretty dull and many of us soo wanted to go back and ride those curves again. Anyways, we reached Dharmasthala and looked for a place to fill our tummy .

Time: 01:00 PM - we were done with our lunch and we decided to head back home. The road ahead of us was not too good at the starting, full with pothoeles, however, the more we travelled, we saw the road becoming smoother . We had to join the Shiradi Ghats at Gundya and we had to do that fast because the road being smooth made some of us sleepy . We henceforth rode in a single line formation because we did not want anyone to get lost of fall asleep. Another 45 minutes and we were at Gundya, overlooking the Shiradi Ghats. Although we heard that Shiradi Ghats road have been repaired and now it is some 70% pothole free, we did not feel any difference from the last time we visited it. Sun was now beating upon us and the potholes at odd places clubbed with traffic of tankers and buses made us slow down.

Nonetheless, irrespective of the traffic on the Shiradi, I had to stop at places to click a few pictures (there were some places I knew along this stretch which were worth taking a pic of).
Some pictures taken at Shiradi ghats.

Time : 01: 50 PM - I was almost at the end of Shiradi ghats when I spotted Saquib's bike parked at the side and Jeeva, Lohith and Jeevan gathered around. I approached them and asked cautiously the problem. I learned that the clutch cable have torn on the R15. Luckily, the incident had happened just opposite a local mechanic shop there and Saquib did have a spare clutch cable . We were indeed relieved then the problem was solved in less than 15 minutes by the mechanic and we were on our way towards Bangalore pretty quick. Pheew! We stopped over for a cup of tea after crossing Sakaleshpura and hence decided to meet each other past the Neelamangala toll gate. We fueled up at the adjoining pump We dispersed from there and started on the much better, neatly maintained Mangalore-Bangalore Highway. it was a pretty boring ride though all along the way and i did not feel like stopping anywhere to click pictures, the temperature was on the higher side now and I was riding solo. I hence preferred to cruise

Time: 05:30 PM - I reached Neelamangala toll booth to find the rest of the folks waiting for me . It was another round of tea before we dispersed. I took this opportunity to pull out my camera to click last few pictures of this ride.

After bidding goodbyes to everyone and thanking each one of them to make this a memorable one, I moved towards the city. The best part of this entire ride was this was a prompt decision from all of us. Great company, great coordination, some great landscapes and some epic bakar by the fellow rides made this a memorable one indeed. I would really look forward to more of this in the near future. Some say: "An Unplanned Ride is more memorable than a A Planned One". I now know it why .

      THE END.
