  • Ja.. Karna - Go..Karna

Babes, beaches, booze, these are the three things which comes to a person's mind when he thinks of Gokarna, a beautiful place located in the Western coast of India, in the state of Karnataka. I was no different. I always dreamt of walking by the beach side, with a beautiful girl, holding her hands, but me being Forever Alone, i knew this is not going to happen in near future at least, but i so wanted to visit Gokarna, explore its beauty, especially after the plan of my going their got cancelled with @Divya Sharan, because of some personal commitments, finally he had to do it solo, in the month of December.

Enter February, and my nudge inside was getting stronger and stronger to visit Gokarna. One fine day i was having a casual talk with Nitin, an Xbhpian who rides a Royal Enfield Desert Storm, and i told him about my plans of going to Gokarna. His immediate answer was, " Bhai, kab chalna hai, bas dates bata de." Trans - " Bro, just tell me when to go and what are the dates", and that's how this plan came into action. Dates were finally decided. It was 1st and 2nd of March, that was a weekend.

We started from here on Friday midnight by 2.30am and reached their by around 11am. This trip was kind of a fully fledged Bollywood Masala film, which included everything, right from some funny moments to an accident which could have been turned into major one. Some teaser pics for now, stay glued.

When plan was still on papers.

Once i discussed my plan with nitin aka @stormunderme i immediately called up our own, sourav ganguly of xbhp aka @SuvraGanguly and told him about my plan of going to Gokarna and i wanted him to join us. He would have definitely joined us but he had some personal commitments due to which he had to back off from this plan.
My next call was to @Sauban Ahmad, our new joshila rider , and joshila hoga bhi kaise nai @saquib3005 ka bhai jo hai. He was very interested in joining us for this plan and it was 99% YES from his side, but who knew that 1% NO will become 100% in the last moment. He had to change his rear Tyre and the dealer had told that stocks will come by Friday. It was still fine as we had planned to leave by Friday midnight, but destiny changed its routes and dealer dhoka de diya last moment pe. He said fresh stocks will come by Saturday. So Sauban also had to withdraw from this plan as riding with that old Tyre for this trip was not a wise idea. So, finally it was Nitin and me, and our steeds were Royal Enfield Desert Storm and Royal Enfield Classic 500.

                              The Day

By 2.15am sharp i was all set to leave from my house, decided to meet Nitin on Bannerghatta road near Gopalan mall. Reached Goapalan and i saw from far,the mighty steed of Nitin standing with all glory, ready to raise storm on highways. We then started our journey from their without having any idea about what all we were about to face in the coming days.

From there we rode at constant speeds till Chitradurga, and we took our first tea break there. Some snaps captured from my mobile.

From there we started off and our next stop was in Davangere for refuelling. Sun started rising by that time. Without wasting time i started clicking some pics there.

From there we started. We already started feeling hungry. We decided to stop as soon as we find some restaurant. As soon as we crossed Davangere, we found a Kamat Restaurant. We immediately stopped for breakfast there. @SuvraGanguly and @snehithpereira, this is the same Kamat where we had our free breakfast when we were heading towards Doodhsagar Falls, remember? I was laughing like anything remembering about that day, and i shared the story with Nitin too while having breakfast. Some photos of the place.

After filling our stomachs, we decided to leave the place. Had a good breakfast there. We had to go till Haveri and from there we had to take diversion for Sirsi and then for Gokarna. Reached Haveri within no time, took diversion, and boy o boy never in my dreams i knew that the roads will be so pathetic there. Crossed 20-30kms or so when a particular stretch came where there was literally wet mud, at the same time there was a diversion too, the lane was going from right to left. Now here what happened is while changing the lane i had a fall, thanks to the wet mud which was laid on the whole stretch by the villagers, for some unknown reasons. They said it is done to make the roads smooth etc etc, but by doing these things they forget that road acha banake fayda kya sala agar koi zinda hi nai bacha ho to udhar chalane ke liye. I tried my level best to control my bike, but my rear tyre went out of my control, and for fraction of seconds i thought i became choreographer, Remo Fernandes, or something because controlling the bike was not less than shaking the hips, but finally their am, lying down on the road. Nitin saw me and he thought how on earth did i fell all of a sudden when he too entered that stretch and he too started dancing but somehow since his speed was less than 20kmph he managed somehow to control the bike. Instead of getting up and piking up the bike, i was lying down and laughing like anything, somehow i enjoyed the fall, lol.
On a serious note, because i was in full gear nothing happened to me, not a single scratch, and because of that i was able to take this matter so lightly. Villagers were looking at me when i was laughing, as if i was an alien. I immediately got up, took some snaps of my bike, to share it here. Here they are,

Without wasting much time, we left the place after hearing free advices from the villagers to be careful, to ride safe etc etc. After a few kms the stretch improved and it turned into a good two lane road from a completely bad stretch, which was not less than a nightmare. We took small small pee breaks in between. By 12.30pm we reached Gokarna town. Took an a.c room in a lodge named Hotel Gokarna, which was quiet decent. Got freshened up, had lunch and decided to take some rest, as we had decided to go the beach in evening.

                              More coming in next part.
