Re: Lonely Cloud
I got my permit to tawang in 30min flat and 20rs fee. The officials were friendly and helpful (unlike bhutan). I even had a long chat with a local on travel and adventure.
I ll visit the river bank and get some pics. Early morning start towards Bomdila/Dirang tomw. The sun is high up by 5am.

Re: Lonely Cloud
Apr 5: left tezpur by 6am and crossed over to AP by 8am. I was greeted by super smooth tarmac! Who would have thought Arunachal? I reached bomdila by 1pm after photo stops. I decided to push my luck and tried to reach dirang for the night.
Apr 6: dirang was cold so left at 8am towards tawang. The road deteriorated soon after, but better than north sikkim. I was mobbed by tourists at an army canteen. I had to pose for several pics.
It was very cold and foggy. The visibility was quite bad and sela pass was next. It was slushy, muddy, slippery and snowy all the way. Somehow managed yo ride on till tawang. I dropped the bike trying to park it at a checkpost - just some scratches on the crash bar. The police picked the bike up fr me - I was tired.Last edited by pitbull; 04-09-2014, 07:10 PM.

Re: Lonely Cloud
Apr 7: Bum la was out of the list as the snow closed out all traffic except 4x4. I spent the day in tawang monastery and the town. It rained all evening.
Apr 8: started late to beat the cold. The sun was out and helped me reach sela in super quick time. It was a cake walk.... I decided to go upto bomdila and rode the dirt roads like a pro (pat fr me). Actually my Hero Impulse was so good that I hardly used the brakes even in bad roads.
Apr 9: I got held up by an army road block for 3 hours!!! I managed to push my bike across and followed an army convoy with my engine off downhill....and rode like a maniac after that. I ve never done this before!!!
I can't reach Kaziranga. But I enjoyed completely empty roads for 100kms. All evergreen rain forest and twisty tarmac. I also stopped at a local market/ weekly fair inside assam border...and had aloo bajji and pakoras at 4pm - my first meal of the day.

Re: Lonely Cloud
Lonely cloud in Cherrapunjee / Meghalaya!!!
Hahaha! Had to say that!
I m now finished with my trip and in guwahati guest house. I need to load the bike in the train tomorrow. 20kms more to go.... cannot believe this trip is over.
3000kms of quality riding over tough terrain. 40gb of HD vids and 15gb of dslr pics ...not to mention a head full of memories and plenty of body aches.
I read a B.R.O. road sign , "if you cannot dream it, you cannot do it".
