  • Ride to Malshej Ghat - A brief one post log

On a Sunday morning, wife tells you to drop her somewhere at 8:00 a.m. and she would take atleast 5 hours to be back home, what to do?

Well Gear up and Ride, but where?

You have to be back in about 6 hours so the destination could bot be farther than 150 kms and have done, Khopoli - Pali road, Kasara Ghat and Lonavla thrice each in last 3 and half months of owning Pegaso - my Thunderbird 350 so thought of going to another famous ghat - Malshej.

    The route map was:

One of the bane of riding solo with a tight schedule is very few pics. Below are few pics from Pimpalgaon Joga Dam, a beautiful place..

Thank you for pushing me to write the log, actually always thought who would be interested in a small 300 kms - 6 hour ride details when you have such amazing travelogues going around . God knows how many rides I haven't shared. But will make sure now onwards, keep writing and sharing the pics.

Thanks for the encouragement, I tend to do these small getaways pretty often, and yes they are very refreshing, but sometimes very few pics, sometimes none so never took the effort to post, but as I said before, will ensure to share every ride now on.

The roads from Tokawade to Malshej ghat, around 45 kms are amazing with smooth surface and beautiful ghats section.

Reaching Tokawade is a different story, the highways in Maharashtra run through dense population with a village or town almost every few kms. There are various kinds of speed breakers before, in and after the intersection of these villages or towns, single big hump, multiple humps, small steep breaker etc. and also the roads are the worst while crossing these towns or villages.

While going I went through NH3, took the diversion from khadavli, roads from Khadavli to Titwala are actually bad. From Titwala to Tokawade, good roads with bad patches and speed breakers near villages and towns.

While coming back, again enjoyed the ghat and roads till Tokawade and Saralgaon, after that came straight through Murbad Kalayan Shil Phata, boring roads and lot of traffic, lot of it.

There is an alternate route where you can go on the shahpur on NH3 and take the road to Murbad to avoid the traffic, not sure on the road conditions though, should be better than Khadavli to Titwala though.
