So here is Day 1. We left from Chandivali around 5:30 in the morning, and hence didn't find much traffic in the city. The route we took was Panvel - Bagmandla - Harnai Murud - Dapoli - Velneshwar.
This was also the first time I rode a bike

Also, since this was our first day with a gopro, our hands were shaky and we had no idea of the angles. So the videos / photos captured were not of top quality. Priceless memories nevertheless.

The first and final loading of luggage and leaving for good.

I don't exactly remember this place's name but I think this Tamastirth, somewhere before Dabhol Jetty. A really awesome place for sunset. Seemed popular among locals too.

After scrambling a little in Guhagar, and irritated with the huge crowds there, we decided to go for Velneshwar. The decision paid off. Velneshwar, not being on the highway, is visited by serious holiday people & is, hence, much more peaceful. A drawback though. Accommodation is expensive.
It was already dark and we had checked 2-3 hotels already. At Hotel Atithi, we were lucky enough to find the owner. We told him we don't want rooms, just give us some space and we will cam quietly and leave early in the morning. He happily complied. We had dinner in the same hotel and camped near the beach. That night we realized that the trip had begun.

Checkout a summary of the trip here.

Excellent photos and a wonderful travelouge in making. You should submit this in the wranglers true adventure. You might get enough votes to warrant an all expense paid trip by wrangler.

Keep riding and bring on the pixs.

Aurobindo, brother, thank you so much, both, for your comments and for the wrangler thing. I was so intimidated with its advertisement banner that I never thought of even clicking on it. Anyways, I submitted the travelogue today which is under moderation right now.

I made a small video for this, hoping to get some extra points :P.

Crazy - this word does not even do justice to what you guys did and achieved. I noticed that the pillion did not even have a helmet. The pic where you are posing with a challan from cops, is it because of riding without helmet?

                      Hey all awesome people.
Writing a good travelogue is a freaking tough job. Particularly when the journey is a never ending one. As mentioned earlier, we are already on phase 2 of this epic journey and have, now, covered more than 10000+ km.

In this leg, we started from Bombay and since then have covered Silvassa, Valsad, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad of the Modern Gujarat. Lothal, Alang, Palitana, Junagadh, Sasan Gir, Somnath, Porbandar, Dwarka, Rajkot of Saurashtra. We will be leaving for Kutch a day after tomorrow and then enter Rajasthan after spending a day or 2 in the Northern Gujarat (Mehsana and Sidhpur).

So as I said earlier, a detailed travelogue of all this might take a long time. Hence I will update with photos whenever and wherever possible.
Meanwhile, if you think this story has the element of inspiring others, please vote it on the truewanderers site too. It would be of great help.

Do i smell " The motorcycle diaries Part 2"..????? Seriously man, how could you guys even think of an epic journey like this? One thing i learned from reading touring section. There are two types of wanderlust, one kind who plans for ages and make it a reality and the latter who just picture a place in their heart and set off. I guess you are the latter one.

I envy you guys. Such a great trip and accomplishment that encourages and motivates rookies like us. But again, quitting job to wander for two whole months and still travelling!!! I am so full of madness that i am not able to do it. The maximum i have ridden is from bangalore to kochi on my Suzuki Access, not a planned one though. The scooter transportation cost along with me on bus quoted was Rs.3500 from Bangalore to Cochin, and i thought " why can't i just ride it?". I reached at Cochin in a mere cost of Rs.900 for fuel and Rs.300 for food expense.

Coming back to the topic, Guys.. when you come to Kollam/Kannur(Kerala State), please call. I will be of whatever help i can.

                          One word to finish with..

                          RESPECT

                          Am Hitting road soon

                            Great achievement!!
Hi Shubhajeet. Thanks for your supportive words and showing concern. It motivates us a lot.
Yes, you are correct in pointing out that the pillion was not wearing a helmet on this trip. But we have learned from our mistakes.

You see, when we started, I did not even knew how to ride a bike. I rode a bike for the first time on Bombay Goa route. And I started as an arrogant dood wearing just t-shirts, shorts, flip-flops while riding. Not even helmet. In fact, I rode for it barefoot for a week.

But gradually, we are getting more sensible. We now wear denims, jackets (not the protective ones but ordinary windsheeters), and helmets ....for both of us. I hope by the time we finish this journey, we will be doing it in proper riding gear.

                            Cheers.

A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

Also another thing about this what strikes oddly in a good way is how people barely have time nowadays with jobs and other commitments but u guys went on a 60 day trip
