on the oil- did you try to put motul 300v as it is 10w40 which requires less time to retain its fluidity in low temperatures or there is specific reason in putting motul 7100
Bro I used 7100 because of the same engine grade oil plus its good for highways and not to forget it helps prolong the engine life by reducing wear and tear of the engine internals. No doubt 300V is a better oil for performance but at the same time it is for out and out racing and does not help prolong engine life, so i have read. plus 300V has a different oil rating which would void the warranty of the engine whereas 7100 is the same grade 20W50

Thanks buddy. You are absolutely right. I have seen things which I could only have imagined for example; the beauty of the ghats, the winding roads smooth as butter through the mountains, riding through clouds wetting your visor, gloves, jacket, jeans.... it was heaven bro.. totally ! It might sound pretty normal to people living down there but for me it was an experience since all we get to see up here are concrete jungles with smog clouding the skies.

Nothing like sounding a noob bro.. some were taken by a SLR while standing... when i knew i was riding slow i had it round my neck (though i would strongly recommend it not be done since i did face certain issues which could have gone wrong on a bad day...lesson learnt) ... others were taken from the helmet cam i got hold of from aliexpress for 1700 bucks

Apologies guys I was out on business for a few days , just got back and have started writing the next section of the travelogue - for my return back.

As far as DTSi vs Motul goes, there is a reason why Motul is the world leader in engine oil. The 7100 is just brilliant on the highway - minimal heating, ability of handling the engine at high speeds. I agree it is a bit harsh at the beginning of the day when the engine oil is not warm but once it does warm up it works like a charm. Engine vibrations, whatever little there were, were significantly reduced. With over a 100 kgs of load on the plus the bike's own weight (the NS is by no means light) i could accelerate from 60 to 110 in no time without downshifting from the 6th gear.

At about 750 - 800 a litre it is a trifle high of a migration cost but it proves its worth. With a drain interval which is much longer than the DTSi, the DTSi at about 400 a litre turns out to be the more expensive proposition. Not to forget the benefits it gives for engine longevity and reduction in maintenance costs due to lesser wear and tear and slicker gear changes. Calculate it mathematically and it would make much more logic migrating to a Motul 7100 or 5100. Post Motul has been a revelation.

P.S - Spoke to my service center guy and he confirmed for me that if the engine grade of Motul is same as the DTSi oil (in case of NS - 20W50) the engine warranty does not get void. Opinions may differ based on the service center managers preference and reluctance to let owners migrate from DTSi.

Hope this helps guys. Please feel free to drop a PM or something in case you need any more info.

    Day 4 : Pune - Bangalore

    Distance travelled: 900 kms
Route taken:oad Conditions: AH47 and NH4 both lived up to my expectations in terms of road quality and scenic beauty. The diversions under all the numerous, still under construction flyovers, between Pune and Satara NH4 are in potholes and tend to slow down highway traffic.
    Departure time: 0700 hrs.
    Arrival time: 0100 hrs.
    Time in saddle: 13 hrs.
    Total breaks: 5 hrs.
    Avg. speed: 70 kmph
Top speed touched:th. I rode on.

On the back of my mind for some reason today, it was continuously playing that I had 900 kms to ride today and I was feeling weak just thinking of it while seeing the traffic ahead of me. However, I decided to not think about it and focus on the ride, the scenery and feel the wind and speeds. Soon I was past the Katraj Ghats vicinity and Pune city.

Cannot comment on how 21K old tyres look bro or how well they can hold... but the roads are not decent .,... they're AWESOME barring small segments on the slightly bad side.

I used the tyre puncture solution and for me it did work pretty well, no wobbling no imbalance. Make sure you put it in the tyres well before your journey to make sure alls well. It has a life of 2 years (I read this somewhere). Since you would be taking Route 1 you do not need to worry about carrying much of spares barring chain cleaner and lube, a accelerator cable and a clutch cable as you would find mechanics in every town that you pass. The 220 has built its credibility as a reliable machine so I am sure you are going to be having a trouble free run.

Recommendation : Run your 220 on Motul 7100 (20W50) engine oil. It is simply brilliant for highway runs since you would be doing almost 600 - 650 kms a day average. Make sure you put it into your engine a 100 kms prior to your journey. Also, the engine would seem harsh in the beginning of each day since it functions best when it warms up to its optimum. Personally, I let the engine idle a bit longer than usual before riding off.
