Please dont embarass me bro by saying something like you are indebted to me and stuff. Rider to rider my friend.

I used the tyre puncture solution and for me it did work pretty well, no wobbling no imbalance. Make sure you put it in the tyres well before your journey to make sure alls well. It has a life of 2 years (I read this somewhere). Since you would be taking Route 1 you do not need to worry about carrying much of spares barring chain cleaner and lube, a accelerator cable and a clutch cable as you would find mechanics in every town that you pass. The 220 has built its credibility as a reliable machine so I am sure you are going to be having a trouble free run.

Recommendation : Run your 220 on Motul 7100 (20W50) engine oil. It is simply brilliant for highway runs since you would be doing almost 600 - 650 kms a day average. Make sure you put it into your engine a 100 kms prior to your journey. Also, the engine would seem harsh in the beginning of each day since it functions best when it warms up to its optimum. Personally, I let the engine idle a bit longer than usual before riding off.

    Pune - Vadodra : 550 kms via NH8
    Vadodra - Udaipur : 350 kms via SH5 / NH8
    Udaipur - Gurgaon : 650 kms via NH76 / NH8

They might seem hectic distances however they are doable in a day each easily. I know because I did the same segments

There is another route also through Central India which i have read is boring and cannot comment on the road conditions.

    Route 2 : Bangalore - Hyderabad - Nagpur - Gwalior - Delhi : 2,131 kms

    Bangalore - Hyderabad : 570 kms via NH7 / AH43
    Hyderabad - Nagpur : 501 kms via NH7
Nagpur - Gwalior via Jhansi : 701 kms via AH43
    Gwalior - Delhi : 359 kms via AH1 / SH22A

You may want to stop at Jhansi instead of Gwalior on Day 3 making a difference of -104 kms of Day 3 and adding it to the next day riding. Like I mentioned bro I cannot give you any updates on teh road conditions for the Route 1, although longer, is one hell of ride to remember for a lifetime. I would never miss out on Route 1 for 300 kms bro, my two cents worth.

I would also suggest other xBHPians to comment on this for improvements to this comment.

Yea.. even i could not believe myself when i saw them. The only place i faced issues were in Mumbai. Barring that, everything was pretty well marked and laid out.

Honestly, I can only give you an estimate as per my bike since I do not know the mileage your bike returns.

In totality, i spent about 9.5K (148 liters approx of fuel with a varied mileage of 36 - 49) on fuel plus another 7K on lodging plus a daily allowance of 1000 bucks for meals and smokes. 1000 bucks was a higher estimate i had taken however must not have used up more than about 600 - 700 per day.

If you are doing this as a leisure trip, i will work out a plan and let you know. How many riding days do you wanna space this out over ? how much do you wanna digress from the default route ?

Day 3 - Daman to Pune

    Distance travelled: 306 kms
Route taken: Road conditions : Fabulous until you hit Thane which is where the Mumbai traffic hits you like a truck hitting your face, God !! one of the most horrible sections of this trip. The traffic madness does not end till somewhere between Panvel and Khopoli only to begin again once you hit the other side of Katraj Ghats. The roads close to (pre and post) Mumbai are brilliant with minor sections of irritatingly slow segments due to construction work / heavy traffic volumes.
    Departure time: 0930 hrs.
    Arrival time: 2000 hrs.
    Time in saddle: 6 hrs.
    Total breaks: 4.5 hrs.

About 20 minutes passed and it was time to move on. The distance from Dapchari to Mira Bhayandar was covered quickly due to the roads and none to minimal traffic.

I knew NH4, post the traffic, was a wonderfully scenic highway and was glad to be experiencing it in person. At many locations I could not help but slow down and admire the views. I took a break a few kms prior to Lonavla at a small plateau section which was more of a bridge over a valley. The all round views of the mountains from there was nothing less than stunning to the extent that I just did not want to move on.

However, after a LONG break of 45 minutes I saddled by bike and pushed off. Amidst the same beauty and scenery, Lonavla passed like a breeze. The roads from thereon right until Pune were just fabulous. I had now started facing difficulties riding due to the receding sunlight and wanted to reach my destination as fast as possible. With a little over 45 kms to Pune I took a quick break for refreshing cup of tea and fueled up at the nearby petrol pump and made use of the opportunity to take a few clicks.

Thanks bro... and its great to know about your planned trip. Is it gonna be one way or return too ? The route you take depends on your purpose of visit. The 220 will definitely serve you well during the trip as its a way better tourer than the NS in terms of stability and highway handling. Will not comment on the power though [emoji14]

Honestly I did not carry any maps with me. Neither did I use GPS to find the way. The signage on the highway is, as a matter of fact, brilliant. If you know the places you are going to pass through its no issue at all. I did this >>> Went onto google maps and found out the places i wanted to travel and made a note of the places I would pass by on my route. This exercise was repeated at the end of each day to refresh my transit destination list for the next day. The only place I needed loads of local guidance was after hitting Mumbai on my way to Pune from Daman. But at the same time it caused havoc with my plans due to the unfortunate unhealthy guidance by locals on my way back.

Jaipur Bypass to Kishangarh is a biker's heaven with butter smooth roads and keeping speeds in check is a tad hard. Bad stretches post hitting Kishangarh BP however the road smoothens out post that all the way to Udaipur. Beware of moving on NH76 since most of it is single laned with horrible traffic. Post Barada the roads are horrible, not with potholes but with undulations all over which can make you lose balance quite easily.

My stomach, by now, had again started growling from the hunger and I thought it better to stop and give it some food and my steed some rest at the same time. The skies had become overcast with clouds and rain was evident which it did. I pushed along searching for a decent dhaba to stop at the satiate my hunger. I found a Fauji Dhaba, and my oh my, it was the best bhindi masala and dal fry which I had for a really long time.

P.S. The Kishangarh bypass does not have any markings, to get on the bypass we need to take a left from the first fly-over perpendicular to the Ajmer expressway post the Kishangarh Toll Plaza.

Since it was raining, and the view across the highway was just too tempting to move on I decided to extend the break and sit here sipping a cup of steaming hot tea, whilst enjoying the beauty of nature, a view which could never be seen in Gurgaon. For me it was like being in heaven !!!

I took a few clicks and wished that I could take some clouds along with me, the clouds were so close.

Once the rains stopped, I decided it was time to move on. I wore my rain suit and was looking like a scientist who had come to capture ET. I stopped to refuel twice more on the way, where I took leisurely breaks admiring the scenic beauty of the route and making note of fuel consumption.
