Hi,
I as well planning to do the solo ride across the white desert during Feb 2017 on my Royal Enfield B500.
For few couple of questions i need clarifications:
1. How good to do during Feb month? Weather nice or too hot/cold?
2. I am starting from Vadodara via Ahmedabad to Bhuj and returning to Rajkot (not finalized yet)/Vadodara.
So below is the itinerary:
D1 - Vadodara to Bhuj = Stay there
D2- Bhuj - Mandavi - Bhuj = Stay there
D3 - Bhuj to Narayan Sarovar= Stay bhuj
D4- Bhuj to DHORDO - Hudko = Stay hudko
D5- Hudko to The Kalo Dungar - Bhuj = stay bhuj
D6 - Bhuj - Vadodara/Rajkot = Stay there
D7 - GIR sanctuary
D8 - fly back from Rajkot
Is the itinerary looks good? Any suggestions?
Also have few questions:
1. Can i put up a tent on the white desert for a night stay ? Allowed? Possible? If so, where suggested?
2. On arrival hotels/stay available in this month? Stay suggestions please? Budget is preferred.
3. Petrol bunks points and backup plans regarding same tips.
4. Mechanical support points?
5. Mobile network coverage?
6. Safety of self and bike all over the place? especially kutch and bhuj.
Any suggestions regarding shipping of Bike from Bangalore to Gujarat and back? Budget yet safety of bike is at priority.
Any suggestions is highly appreciated.

I mean I understand your feelings and I wished I could do the same. They have their own TENT city(Avg INR 5000 per day) 2. On arrival hotels/stay available in this month? Stay suggestions please? Budget is preferred. I had booked Jay Guest House(INR 400 for 3 nights/INR 100 extra bed) but it was quite cumbersome(8 feet X 6 feet.. not joiking ). You shud have looked the reaction on my face when I enetered the room. But clean, nice, hospitable, hot water in morning. I will never suggest or book this one again. I think any hotel with INR 500+ per day from makemytrip shud be OK. 3. Petrol bunks points and backup plans regarding same tips. After Ahmedabad, I suggest you keep minimum 5 litres at disposal at all times. Keep tank full when visiting rann, kalo dungar. Google map petrol tanks. I just checked and there are sufficient petrol pumps if not many. 4. Mechanical support points? You will have to google out RE service stations. There are local tyre puncture wala which can do vbasic mechanic job. But they are spread at distances, not nearby. Any main city/sub-city will be your best hope. As you are on a Bullet, make sure you carry spare fuse and do a youtibe on how to fix it if any problem occurs. 5. Mobile network coverage? Good to Okish depending on location 6. Safety of self and bike all over the place? especially kutch and bhuj. ATGATT. Helmets on regardless. At night use hi beam as there are cows, tractors, trucks that dont have tail light, no reflectors. Bhuj to Rann at night please dont exceed speed than your personal capacity and limitation. The road is having markings and reflectors on it so driving is easy but watch out for tractors, cows and trucks. Any suggestions regarding shipping of Bike from Bangalore to Gujarat and back? Budget yet safety of bike is at priority. If it were my bike, I would personally ride it than to ship it. Any suggestions is highly appreciated. Best of luck for your journey. Although i would like to state here that i have slightly modified my itinerary again to fit in more adventure than before upon reading few more blogs and articles over net.
As it is Below:
Day 1 Vodara Arrive at Vaodara, collect bike and check health. Roam around Day 2 Vodara to Zainabad via Ahmedabad Do sanctuary visit and Stay at zainabad 220 Kms Day 3 Cross Little ROK - Adesar/Balasar Exit at garamadi and proceed to balasar to stay night 100 + 60 Kms Day 4 Balesar to Dholavira to Bhuj Visit Dholavira, return to balesara towards Bhuj. Max try Night stay Bhuj 60 + 170 Kms Day 5 Bhuj to Mandvi beach - Bhuj Mandvi beach visit and local sightseeing in bhuj - stay night in Bhuj 80 Kms Day 6 Bhuj - kala dungar - India bridge - Bhuj Stay back in bhuj 110 Kms Day 7 Bhuj - Narayan Sarovar - Bhuj Stay back bhuj 160 kms Day 8 Bhuj to Ahemdabad to Vadodara Stay in vadodara 340 kms Day 9 Ship the bike Stay in vadodara 0 Day 10 Travel to BLR via Mumbai Bye...

Hello,Another curious question i have is, how many deployed BSF soldiers did you happen to meet ? If i am not wrong, their postings are at kala dongar, dordo, india bridge, zero point, right? You need special permission from Bhuj Comissioner for Narayan sorovar, India bridge. You have to obtain it before hand in BHUJ else those guys wont allow you. I dont know exactly where to obtain it. On you way to Rann, you will come across checkpost where you fill a form and show ID proof. Carry zerox copy of ID proof just in case. Carry INR 25 change as entry fees. Its INR 100 for cars so no change problem. For bikes it is INR 25. This pass is for Rann and Kalo Dungar. To upto india gate, you need special pass from comissioner that can be obtained in BHUJ itself.
At dholovira, prepared to get thirsty and tired like never before, but for first time, its worth it.
Also try to go on a full moon night. The Rann looks amazing.
At mandvi, visit Vijay Vilas palace. It closes by 5 PM.
Visit Aina mahal and prag mahal in BHUJ. They are crowded like DADAR station on holidays. So time accordingly.
I dd not go to BSF sensitive areas(Narayan sarovar, India gate(Vighakot)), so didnt meet any.
As it is you are on a bike, dealing and convincing them would be easy.
