    2. During December to Feb end, you will get plenty of options but with slightly higher prices as this is the season. So, you need to plan your dates. If they are around Rann Utsav, then you may have to shell out extra.
    3. No dearth of petrol stations and hotels in Gujarat.
    4. Mobile network may play hide and seek as you get closer to Rann.
    5. Do not venture too deep into Rann as it's not recommended. Apart from that no problems with regards to safety.

Have a safe and pleasant ride
hmm...i hope since i am planning mid of Feb, it wont be too pricy all over. I know till Bhuj, one gets stay options easily. But was wondering at Rann of kutch.
Also, wondering if i need to do advance booking of stay or going there i can find easily, especially desert side?

    Thanks buddy and mukundroa.

Btw, buddy, nice travellogue. Some day hoping to cross roads with you in bangalore or elsewhere

Awesome is the word. Looks like the Benelli has clocked some serious miles, and you seem to be enjoying every bit of its relationship with you. Congratulations on completing this endurance. The clicks are as usual mesmerizing to say the least.

You will get accommodation like tent houses even near Rann of Kutch, close to white desert. Not sure of advance booking.

        Thanks buddy. Ride safe.

I met only two near white desert who were deployed at the gate of whose pic I have posted above as mine was not an extensive visit.

You did not visit zero point? Cross over bridge? From some other article, i came to know that to enter bridge area, there are 2-3 BSF folks, once crossing bridge and nearing zero point, another 3-4 can be met and at zero point, i am not sure how many. Hence wanted to know a rough figure.

Just curious Zen Walker, how does the number of BSF guys matter? I thought just one permit is enough to visit the Rann!

Yes 1 is enough to visit kala donger and india bridge. But zero point aka vigha kot, lies 80kms away from india bridge and to be here one needs a special permission from BSF office @bhuj.

good read & super fotos too... loved it...

                        i am doing the mumbai > sasan gir > somnath > porbandar > dwarka > dholavira > dhordo > mandvi > baroda > mumbai circuit from 10.dec thru 17.dec.

14.dec is full-moon & hence the night desert safari & local folk-dance has been planned on that night.

during these months, weather is pleasant / cold during 6pm thru 9am & daytime temp is pretty hot.

the somnath > porbandar > dwarka section is considered one of the 3 most pristine coastal routes in india [#1 being the mahabalipuram > pondy stretch] - hence i have timed crossing this section from dawn to dusk.

will surely remember u & ur fotos when i am passin' thru ;-)

That's a bloody good travelogue mate. I love your logging style - a brilliant balance of words and pictures. I never get tired reading your logs. I'm a big fan of your "Joy of riding" series. In fact, I derive a lot of inspiration for my rides from your travels only. Thank you for taking the time to do this. I am too lazy to write, but you are slowly pushing me to start writing again. Looking forward to your next ride.
