Good write up and pics Karthik. I was wondering where you and Ashok had disappeared for almost more than a month now.
I rode to Malshej the day after Diwali and went via Alephata just for change and you're right, it's absolutely boring to ride. Needless to say, returned via Dolkhamb-Kasara route.
Moreover, saw that greenery is retreating after what was a somewhat extended monsoon for most of Maharashtra. But the air is nippy here already so early morning rides should be fun.
SEASON 2 - WEEKEND 6: Went on a official trip to Chennai, and got a chance to attend an event/gathering in my hometown near Tirupati. I know Tirupati is not in western ghats, but its a short trip and just updating my experience of just a day in my hometown. I would say " Soul renewed " . My bike wasn't there - used cousin's splendor. Roads from Tirupati was single lane narrow one with lot of turns since its a village & hill area.
Am not gonna put in words much, it was a function at my village - This village is old, only 6-8 homes & pretty removed from people or nearby villages. Its so damn remote that not even cell phone signal will reach there except BSNL, Airtel fairs a little. But the ground distance from tirupati is just 10 - 12 kms.
This is the road which is at its best near to my village, bus comes once/ twice in a day. Power is still single phase. Meals on banana leaves, food cooked on mud stoves with firewood. Food was traditional & after the event there was a feast with mutton & chicken made village style.
Had some Nostalgic moments where we used to sit outside and talk beneath clear skies with stars, listening to dried palm tree leaves making sounds when wind blows and the wolves howl.
Visited my family's Mango plantation. We need to take a half km walk through dense & dark bamboo plantation which used be home of lot of snakes. This place floods when it rains heavy, so need to cross a dyke which is built to contain water. We used to climb the mountain on the backdrop when we were kids & lot of rumors about lost treasures, Babas meditating in caves & "he who climbs the mountain" stuff were making the climb exciting.
It was so relaxing and after a long time the time was moving very slow in these fast days.
