Hey, thanks!Regarding the lights : I went to a truck shop and bought these lamps of a generic brand. It has a rating of 55W each and run on a 12V DC battery. I asked the mech to take one input directly from the battery and the other through a 24V large relay. That way the lamps and the battery stay safe. I got the lamp for 200 INR each. Fitting plus the brackets - the mech charged me 500 INR. These are not for show, only for emergencies. So it's okay on the battery. The battery gets trickle charged anyway. I can always monitor the charge on the ammeter. I used the lights in fog and dark for about 1.5 hour and it did nothing to the battery. So I guess it is okay. You can always go to eBay and look for a seller named VOLGAAUTOMOTIVE who has the same ones. If your battery is 8A 12V DC then it is fine, I guess. So far, so good for me.Wish you happy miles ahead, cheers!

A fantastic write up. I second your observation on Nokia maps-I presume you are referring to the Satnav driving app called Here? But you'd be amazed to see the Here maps app on Android. It's so much better. The windows app much like everything else about the phone is pretty crap. The worst thing about the windows app is it's not intuitive. You can only setup a trip as a daily commute and can only access a trip navigation when the time is within like 30 mins of the start time you mentioned at the time of setting that trip up! On android you simply type n a destination and roll, simple. Plus for some reason the windows app doesn't highlight the new route after recalculation-when you take a wrong turn-properly.

          Thanks, mate.

Regarding the maps, I do not use Here Maps. Here does not work on Windows 10 phones. Instead, there is a whole new built-from-scratch app exclusive for Windows 10 phones called "Maps" by microsoft. That's the one I was talking about. Anyway, it does recalculate the new route if a turn is missed, shows traffic density, shows a real time speedometer and automatically changes to a dark theme when the Sun sets.

I have used Gmaps in my android days and it was fun, too. Since in Windows Maps I can download the map of a particular state on the SD card, I can even navigate in the flight mode

PS : I am not a windows fanboy and these are my impartial observations.

          I hope this clears it.

          Cheers, ride safe!

Fantastic write up brother! Loved your style of narration. One of a kind I have seen lately. And kudos to you for your driving manners. May you and your RE munch miles and miles together!

              Keep up the good work.

I am not much of a rituals guy. Shook hands with a few, listened to people brag about their new cars and property rates per square feet, made acquaintances with forgotten relatives, answered a few repeated questions about career plans, provided medical advice for free to a few who lurched around when they knew, and all that routine stuff. It's like clockwork now a days. I don't mind it either. It just isn't joyful anymore.

BTW I get the same feeling at any engagements, weddings, get-togethers
              Thanks, Mate!
Social gatherings where we don't get to choose the company will always be like this. Except for some place where people come together with a common affection and a sense of belonging like a concert or a bikers'/photographers' meet etc. Then it's a whole other game altogether

              Wish you all the best.

              Hey,
Sorry for the delay. I will soon upload the process I follow here or I can email you if it isn't allowed here. I am not saying it is the foolproof method but surely works for me.
I always make sure to keep the screen in landscape mode because the ratchets are oriented that way. I slide the mount towards me and not towards the road, so that gravity does not work against my favour. I will try and make a few illustrations as soon as I find some time.

              Till then, Happy Experimenting!
