believe lovemax, when i was going through your excellent triplog and pics i was in a trance. i could relate each and every feeling of yours to mine, when i went to delhi>shimla>manali>rohtang>delhi. going a bike is simply AWESOME. you feel as if u r the king of the world. nature is an addiction - you are so right dude! nice to have u as a member here! btw, when i reached page 3 it said "bandwidth exceeded", send the pages and images to me as one zip file i will make a folder for u on xbhp and upload all of ur trip logs and everything uptil now u have here. that is just my token of appreciating your biker spirit.

camera was Kodak CX6200 - low end digi cam.
But it was all the nature that did the trick.

lovemaxx, i have a few questions ...

a) how many kilometers was the complete trip?
b) any punctures encountered on the way?
c) what clothes/gear were you wearing.
d) were you carring any sleeping bag with you?
e) what bike spares did you carry with yourself?

might be doing the same trip, solo ofcourse, next week or the week after that ...

i have been advised by a few people, not take the srinagar route due to inumerous check posts (army as well as police) on the way ...

Hey nikhil you are welcome to ask more Q's and here the answers to your Q's
a) In total from Delhi-LEh-Delhi 2388kms besides some extra 80-90kms too.
b) well, luckily no punctures but make sure if puncture happens there is no support for any help beyond Darcha and before Upshi.
c) Yes, Indeed I had this special 4 layer Jacket which is all weather proof and u need to carry warm clothes.
d) No, I had my trip planned and so I was not carrying any sleeping bag but i did slept in -2C.
e) I was just carrying an extra spare tube for front wheel as it was only major spare and rest all were tools, as I myself service my bike and take care of it.

Well, besides that reason its still unsafe if you are travelling alone on that route - terrorism still exists as you face LOC right in front of you.
And no matter what its something beyond your control to stop, Its better you take Manali- Leh road as it involves 4 passes on its road. And the highest another some 50kms from Leh.

And do make sure u dont have to overexert yourself as there is no support and doctor available after Gemur and before Rumtse so be careful. Make it atleast 3 days from Manali to leh while going and can be 2 days while returning back.

I got this jacket from Germany, sorry dude I dont know if we have such a stuff available in india! Possibly, it will be but I dont know and if so it will be expensive man - Be prepared.
Mine one was at 270Euros.
