The ride was planned in the month of April with a direction in mind considering the weather conditions. There was no plan as such but the destination was fixed and it was decided that its going to be a camping ride. The ride was planned for a 3 day weekend. My buddies were supposed to leave on Thursday night to avoid the TN heat, and I was supposed to catch up after work by leaving Bangalore early in the morning. In total we were 4 friends on 4 bikes.

Day 1 :-
Route : Bangalore-Salem-Dindigul-Kumily-Vandiperiyar-Vagamon

My friends had left Bangalore by 3 am and I managed to get permission to log out early and left Bangalore by 6 AM. I knew I had to do a lot of catch up for me to meet them by noon. Took the Nice road and fueled up in Mysore road. It was a non stop ride for me till Salem where I had my breakfast and fueled up again. At this time I found out that my friends were near Dindigul.



I requested them to take long breaks and somehow wait for me and i would meet them somewhere close to Theni. I was sure they would reach the destination before i could meet them but for my luck they had stopped at a restaurant in Bathlagund for a long time waiting for me. Finally met my group and it felt good. We Started towards our destination as we had some distance to cover and we also had to scout for the camping location.
It was an amazing ride from Bathlagund to Vagamon. It was all 2 Lane and filled with yummy curves.

Meanwhile we get hydrated and cooled



The amazing view of western ghats started after we crossed Thekady. And it was mesmerizing.

When I thought it couldn't get any better we encountered heavy fog with light rain as we neared Vagamon. I just forgot the Boring and sunny highway ride.
And we reach out destination - VAGAMON

Day 2:

The previous night it was freezing cold and at one time the entire place was covered with fog. I didn't expect the place to be such cold and didn't have a blanket or a sleeping bag . It was a shivering night for me but i enjoyed it . We woke up a little late and it was a bright sunny day, What a contrast!!!!!
Freshened up and it was the most boring part , we had to remove the tent and fold it. It was time for me to get proper scoldings for not doing any work. LOL
By the time the tents were folded I was sweating like hell. Time for roaming around in VAGAMON !!!!

Couldn't ask for more!!! We decided to make a move from the place and roam around a little (as its famously called "Explore") There were few holy places close by and there was a big event organized in one of the place which caused a lot of traffic on a not so big road. It was still manageable when compared to Bangalore's traffic.
We found a small trial after riding for about 10 Km and decided to check it out. The result was amazing

We move on from this place after relaxing for a while and a lot of photos. We start our journey towards a falls (sorry forgot the name) There was no water in the falls and we just returned in the same route. But the journey to this falls was amazing as it was full on twisties. Stopped at a small hotel for a refreshment and ended up having lunch. During the time there we found out that the road next to the place goes to the pine forest.
It was time for some off road again. (Unfortunately these pics are locked up in my friend's memory card which I'm waiting for from a looooooong time). There are some Videos too. We entered the Pine forest from one side of the forest and exited the forest from another side which was a hell of an off road and awesome fun.

Then we headed towards Vandiperiyar which was the destination for the night. En-route I spotted this from the main road



Immediately i alerted the rest of them and we were headed to the place to check it out and hopefully go for a ride. Its a private property where this event is organized. There's an entry ticket of 20 per vehicle and about 3 Km from the main road after paying the fee's to the main spot. And for a ride of about 10 minutes it costs 3k. I was all excited to go on a ride but there were hell lot of people there in Queue as it was a Sunday. It was already around 4 in the evening and we had about 35 Km to cover before we are in the camp site limits. Unfortunately we had to rush as we had less daylight left.

We left the place after clicking A LOT OF PHOTOS. The route to Vandiperiyar involved a lot of estate roads to reach the location faster. It was a pleasant ride as it was evening time along side those beautiful tea estates but a very bumpy ride .. We finally reached our camping site at around 7ish. It was dark and it was about to rain. Initially it was a scary scene as we were on top of a hill and was lightening and thundering like hell. We quickly managed to find a flat enough place to pitch both the tents and pitched the tents as soon as possible. For our luck as soon as we completed pitching our tents it poured heavily for about 15 minutes which felt heavenly.

Like our previous camp site the surroundings here was also beautiful. It was a fun tonic session that night. The day started early the next morning to just walked around the place and finally end up like this after a while under a tree

We somehow convinced each other to leave the place by 12:45 and started towards Thekkady. The return route was supposed to be the same boring highway route. The route is awesome until we reach Dindigul but after that its as boring as it can get.
We reached Thekkady via Kumily as one among us was to stay back and three of us were to ride till Dindigul where our Mohan saar would deviate towards Madurai(his hometown). It was already dark when we reached Dindigul, after a Bye-Bye me and Bharath start our return journey.
By the time we reached Krishnagiri it started raining cats and dogs. That was what required to end the trip on a happy note. the rain cheered us both who didn't want to go home after such an amazing trip.
Finally we reach Bangalore by around 3 after a lot of breaks.

but for now its "the end" !!!

Fantastic pics Anup. You had a nice ride there. is Vagamon a camping site or you were the only folks camping there?

There's​ lot of private property close to the view points in vagamon where people can camp but are charged for it. We just choose a random spot to camp.
