  • [Photo Feature]: Baby steps

Hello everyone. Its way past the midnight hour and I am trying to figure out what to do with myself.
I am in Dehradun at present. The city where I spent most of my childhood. Where I had my first bicycle ( Hero Ranger) and then after a few years my first motorbike (RX 100). I upgraded to the legendary RD 350 within a year and moved to Pune for my studies. All this was funded by my father of course. No wonder he saw my 350 as a dangerous and expensive toy and in my absence got rid of it . That was almost 15 years ago.
I have been using public transport since then and got a car when my daughter announced her impending arrival into this world. That was 3 years ago.

I wasn't in Dehradun until yesterday. I have been living in Noida with my wife and daughter since last 3 years.
But last month I did something out of the blue. I decided to reignite my riding passion and somehow managed to bring home the bike of my dreams. It wasn't all hunky dory of course and even today I had to make a painful promise to wifey. She wasn't too happy when I decided to ride to Dehradun on my new bike. I did it any how. And she has been fuming since then. Calling me insensitive and selfish.
I am posting some pics from my ride and in the process trying to relive that incredible experience. I am sure you guys will understand.

NH24 not the best place to ride but I had no choice.

Namastey Midway: A nice place to take a break on NH58. Exactly midway between Delhi Dehradun.

Traffic and the roads in certain areas were bad and I got stuck in a few places. But I loved every moment of it.

Spent the day at home just catching up on events at home and being lazy. It rained in the evening and the weather became very very pleasant.

Took a trip to mussoorie next day in the latter half as it rained all morning too.

This is the venue where I got married 6 years ago.

Well as I was mentioning earlier about a painful promise to wifey, i promised that I won't bring back the bike to noida by riding it. I don't know where it came from but she asked me to make that promise. I am going out of the country for next 3 months. So I have 3 months to figure out a loophole in this. Your suggestions are most welcome.
    Bye for now.

Nice ride and congrats on your bike. Good to see you ride it out of town straight off the bat!

Understandably family gets worried about motorcycles. We all see idiots on the road everyday on motorcycles. Who wouldn't be afraid of motorcycles! Especially considering that you are getting back on the saddle after a long time.

There have been many people in the position that you are in and for most it is the same funda. Ride responsibly over and over again, till your family gets convinced that you are safe on a bike.

About getting your bike back to Dehradun. There is only one line which comes to mind "it is easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission"
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Tension not, there's only one active thread now.
          Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Ducati looks stunning along with your all helmet on shots! Kudos to that! From where you got the RST jacket? Is it available in India now?

A bike on the road is worth two in the shed.

                          Yup..

I rode both 795 monster and the diavel, Diavel feels like it has unending torque - at least for what I have pushed the bike's limits.

Hello everyone...the thread has been dead for a while and so are my plans to go out if the country...at least for another two three weeks it seems..hence with good behaviour and some logic based tantrums I managed to let wifey annule the "don't ride the devil back to Noida" promise...so I am on my way to Dehradun right now...shall reach by the night and then tomorrow ride back to Noida...so excited at the prospect that forgot that this is the Kanwad season here in the north and there is some crazy junky crowd loose on the highways..managed to catch a bus taking the karnal, paonta sahib route to doon...wondwring if should take the same route for riding back too...but I am not very familiar with it and will be riding solo...so weighing my options...kindly suggest if you have faced this any time...thanks...shall try to write about the trip though
