    hmm roads in short are bad. final strech to leh is fantastic. beats any expressway. serious. weather-skies clear, high speed winds.

    i didnt get any altitude sickness, but got bad headaches a night at sarchu. couldn't sleep. i met up with a guy riding a bullet, he got pretty sick. after we crossed tanglang la (17000+feet) he started vomiting and stuff ...

          Derivations from a Yahoo Chat with Nikhil on 3rd September :

          -Internet is Rs 2 a minute

          -got a puncture inthe front typre at barallacha la at 16000 feet, rode from baralacha with flat tyre to sarchu where i got the puncture fixed

          -speedo cable went bad at trip meter reading of 815 kms

          -at sarchu at night the temperatures dropped below zero.,water in the tanks froze.

            yes there is ice on the roads. in shady areas. otheriwse its melted. its freezing. no roads before and after khardungla , on muddy/rocky pathways few kms on either side.

              "i went to nubra valley yesterday. 250 km round trip.
              reached khardung la from leh in 1 hr 15 mins.

              saw the river nubra and shyok. beautiful scenery.
              unbeliveable. took video clip while riding bike.

              got puncture 5 km after khardungla while coming back.
              rode till south pullu where the army guys tried to
              help me out. i was wearing my army pants, boots and
              jacket. but they cudnt help me. rode till leh where i
              got the tube changed.

              going to pangong tso tomorrow or day after. and then
              finally tsomoriri.

              roads not so good.
