        Thanx a lot Bibek sir..
Yes, it was Mandar's first long ride(with me) but didn't look like it's his first ride.. He's a fantastic rider and has got great stamina..

Thanks for complements ketan. But I am the newbie in this biking nirvana and riding with such a experience rider like ketan and umesh was great learning experience for me. It’s definitely helped me to improve my riding skills.

Good to know you enjoyed the Big ride lonelyrider.. I know how it feels to be at our native on our bike, when all those years we use to commute by bus/train. Its a fantastic feeling. My so-called native is Alibaug, I remember how i & my family there felt when I arrived on bike. All where dumbstruck. That was my first ride, but now we all do more than that distance non-stop ... its fun man.!
            You guyz had serious fun..!

Sorry for the delay guys, was a bit busy with work. Trying to complete it now..

Here's where I had left the log last time..

"I checked the time and decided to move ahead quickly instead of wasting too much time. The road between Mahad and Poladpur via Raigadh was really enjoyable. We all were eager to hit the Kashedi ghat but I stopped these guys just before Kashedi for a tea break coz I knew both of them must be very excited and didn't want to risk anyone by continuing the same way. We stopped at a small tea stall and ordered Wada Pav and tea. Meanwhile I told them a bit about the ghat. The road is so beautiful that people do get carried away and that's when accidents occur. I had ridden many times on this road but for them it was all new. And that's exactly what happened ahead.. "

While we were having wada pav and tea, the tea stall guys was high on something else and started comparing the R15 with the Ninja and all stuff.. A few jokes were cracked and the mood was very light and fresh then. We finished the stuff and got geared up once again.. The moment had arrived for which we actually planned the ride. To enjoy the Kashedi.

We all started off simulatneously but soon the group was scattered due to different riding styles and speeds. I was at the lead while Mandar and Umesh were shuffling the 2nd and 3rd position. I made it a point to always be at such a position and distance that atleast one of them can be seen in my RVM..just in case you see...

It was a completely different kind of fun riding the Kashedi almost as if we were on track. The roads pretty good..lots n lots of curves and some high speed corners. One hell of a ghat. Another good thing, very less traffic. But even then one has to be careful coz there are lots of blind corners.

No probs what so ever till we reached the top of Kashedi. I stopped for a couple of seconds to let everyone come together. Now it was the downhill trip. The sequence once again was the same with me at the lead and these guys following me. At One fine corner, I was at quite high speed and as the corner opened I saw a tempo overtaking a truck and bang in front of me in my lane.. That was scary but fun. Managed to pull myself out of that dangerous situation. My rear tyre lost it's line due to hard braking but had I pressed it even harder it could have been disaster. The moment I felt the tyre losing line, I released the brake for a second and pressed it again.

Why am telling all this is becuse at least looking at this incident these guys should have learned something out of it. Just a few corners ahead, it was another sharp bling corner and I was following a tempo. I didnt take the risk to overtake it on the blind turn, but Umesh decided to give it a go and was in the opposite lane. That's when he saw an alto coming from the opposite direction and boy.. he had his ballz in his mouth.. hahaha.. He slammed the rear brake and his bike started dancing.. It was a very close call with Alto. I literally saw his bike moving left and right in my RVM. Shit.. that was scary.

Later part of the journey was quite smooth with all of us ripping hard on the dead straight stretch between Kashedi and Khed. Clocked a top speed of 128-130kmph. We reached Khed in no time and I pulled over in front of a shop because now was the time to decide which place are we going. If we decide to go to Dapolli and Harnai, then we would have had to take the route through Khed village and if not, then carry on on the Goa highway till Chiplun.

I asked the shopkeeper bout the exact route and he was kind enough to give us some extra details. He suggested us not to go to Harnai beach and go to Murud beach instead. But he also warned us that all the beaches in Dapoli will be crowded with Puneri tourists Punekars head to this place on their holidays.. damn..

And that was more than enough for us to change our mind. We didn't want crowd as it was already sweating hot. We saddled up and now our destination was Temple of Parashurama in Parashuram ghat near chiplun. It wasn't that far from Khed and hence we reached there quite safely and soon.

There isn't a proper parking for vehicles at Parashuram temple and hence we parked our bikes in front of a small stall and asked the 'mama' to take care of our bikes and gear. He was nice person and agreed happily. I have already mentioned the history of the temple on the first page, so without wasting anymore time typing..am posting a few pics of the temple and the surrounding.

              The main temple..

              Where we parked our bikes......

It was a beautiful feeling in the temple, mainly because of the silence and clean surroundings. The pujari of temple was kinda surprised seeing Umesh's Cramsters(knee guards). He even thought he had some sorta knee operation...

So we were at our destination.. now what.. It was just 11am in the morning. If I talk bout me, then I had visited this temple earlier. So there was nothing new so far for me. What's the point riding so far then? Of course I enjoyed the road but what apart from that?

I asked the flower stall mama bout the exact distance of Guhagar from Parashuram temple. He said it's 56km from here. Now 56 wasn't that much, we thought. And everyone jumped off with one thought - we are going to Guhagar. Mandar was even happier as it's his native place. He was a bit disappointed as well as he didn't bring the keys to his home.

We quickly geared up and started the downhill journey of the Parashuram ghat. There are 2 routes which one can use to reach Guhagar, velneshwar, Hedvi etc.. One goes through Chiplun city and the other is a by-pass which cuts short the city ride. We obviously chose the short cut. I aware of that road as I had used it during my last Hedvi ride. As usual, the 2 moto gp riders were flying while I was cruisingly slowly behind them. These guys missed the right turn and kept riding on the Goa highway. I pulled over just ahead of that right turn and called them. Mandar picked up the call and then they took U turn to come back. Now it was the left turn which took us to the state highway. The initial patch is pathetic but it's very small - hardly for a few hundred meters. Once you hit the proper state highway.. I just have one line for those whole 50km. IT'S A PARADISE AND A DREAM ROAD FOR EVERY RIDER WHO LOVES CORNERING. It's that simple to discribe that road.

Amazing surface and perfect corners. High speed twisties and lesser traffic. Only thing to worry were the stray animals and occassional local rossis and lorenzos.. This road is high up there in my list of most favourite roads.

Enjoyed like hell riding on that road and reached Guhagar village in sometime. Mandar who was a local knew the roads and he guided us straight to the beach.

Fantastic.. faaaantastic beach.. white sand.. very little pollution and clean clear water. Though you'll see some plastic bottles and cartons in pics, those are mainly because of the chat stalls which are there on the shore.. People never learn to keep such places clean.. But still the beach quite cleaner than most beaches these days.

              The Lonelyrider..Mandar

While I was busy shooting the scenic beauty.. Umesh did some jugaad with a Nimbu pani wala.. The bhaiyya(not big brother..the other way around) allowed us to park our bikes in shade of a closed pani pari stall and he agreed to keep watch on our bikes while we go out for lunch.

A perect resting place for our babes..

Once we were sure bout our bikes' safety, we headed out with all our gears and stuff. In the village, we asked a shopkeeper for a good hotel for lunch. He suggested us to go to Savarkar's hotel. Thanks a lot to that fella, the hotel was indeed fabulous.. Very nit and clean. No rush. and most importantly the food was amazing. Rs.45 for full Veg thali. Maza aa gaya.

              The food...

Once the pet puja was done, we all were lazy and sleepy. Didn't want to take the risk of riding immediately. So we decided to spend some time on the beach, get refreshed and then leave.

As long as possible we wanted to avoid night riding, that's why we al agreed to leave the place by 2.30pm at any cost. One thing I liked bout this trip was we never wasted or got late. We managed to do all the things on time. May be that's the benefit of riding in small group.

Some TP shots on the beach.. here you go..

              3 Idiots..

It was time to rock n roll.. We geared up and left the beach on decided time. Just outside the beach, stopped for a couple of minutes to get our water bottles refilled and praying at the Vyadeshwar mandir. Once done, the real journey started.

As usual, the two moto gp riders started ripping right from the word go. I agree the road was beautiful but these guys were carrying too much speed..especially at corners. I was afraid of any unforeseen incident. In a matter minutes they were out of my sight. I was determined and maintained my cruising speed of 78-80kmph.

After a few kms, there was a sharp left hander - a blind curve. I was taking the corner and at the exit of it I saw these two guys standing right in the middle of the road - blocking it. I was shit scared and somehow managed to get past them. I was furious on them but didn't stop and continued my ride. I also noticed some villagers staring at us strangly.

It was later that I came to know the real scene.. Umesh lost his control due to excessive speed on that particular corner and came back from the door of death.. He carried too much speed on that corner and found himself in the wrong lane by the time corner was over. To add to it, there were 2 motorcyclists coming towards him. He almost killed all those 4 guys and himself... His rear tyre lost it's line and was dancing once again. But this incident was much much scarier and deadly compared to the one in Kashedi and was more than enough to shatter his confidence He was then stuck to the 60kmph mark for the rest of the journey..

Nothing muh to describe bout the return journey. It was flawless, fantastic and fast. We took a small break just before Kashedi - a tea break. Umesh's face was worth seeing there..hahahahah...

Enjoyed Kashedi while coming back as well. Came across a group of bikers heading towards Goa. Lost a bit of time in kashedi as there was an accident and due to which the traffic was held back by cops.

Once the traffic was released, a Zma guy wanted to race with us. He zoomed pass us recklessly. We all were on it then. Didn't take us long to make him eat the dust. We all overtook him...

Time was passing and the sun was going down fast. We were some 30-40kms before Wadkhal and it was completely dark. As we were moving forward, we suddenly found ourselves in the middle of a cloud of flies and insects. Some of them were huuuuge and they ****ed our helmet visors big time. so much that we couldn't ride with visors on. It was just not ending. I got frustrated and decided to take a small 5 min pit stop.

Here's the last pic of the day clicked right there(clicked by my cellphone).

Later, the journey till Wadkhal was not a big problem as such. In between Mandar had a very close call with an ST bus... whewww..that was close..

For those, who are from outside maharashtra or those who haven't used the road between Wadkhal and Panvale..

IF YOU WANT TO SEE ONE OF THE MOST UNDISCIPLINED, RISKIEST, DUMB AND HOPELESS ROAD TRAFFIC IN WESTERN MAHARASHTRA, THEN PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO TRAVEL BETWEEN WADKHAL AND PANVEL ANYTIME BETWEEN 6PM AND 4AM. CRAZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZYY..!

Absolutely crazy. They just dont know anything bout lane discipline, traffice rules..nothing... It's a tough job crossing that patch at that time.

We all finally met at JNPT junction. Settled the day's expenses and then left for Mumbai. Mandar who stays at Thane, had some fucntion to attend at chinchpokli. so he too joined us till Dadar. Everyone reached home safely by 8.30pm. One hell of day was finally ended. Thankfully, even after those close calls, we managed to pull out this ride crashfree.. Total KMs done were approx. 640kms. Total expenses close to 800 bucks including fuel and food.

Our next ride is surely on the NH17... That road is just addictive. More is never enough..

              Thanx for going through..
