        Thanks Dada, your words are really a great source of inspiration for me

        @all : Updated Day 1, will post day 2 soon, Till then posting my self Evaluation

        Organisation and Planning - 3

        Mental Preparedness - 4
        Although I was mentally fully prepared, but being a new rider, thought of riding in hills was enough to made my heart skip a beat or two.

        Bike Preparedness - 5
        No deductions here, I prepared my bike fully, got is serviced and thoroughly checked, set correct tyre pressure and suspension. Even washed it and applied wax polish

        Safety Precautions before the ride - 4
        Took full precautions, Even bought Biking Jacket for ride

        Safety Measures during the ride - 4
        I took all the safety measures during ride and was cautious for mistakes like tale gating for entire ride. I have deducted one point coz I initially took 1-2 wrong overtakes on hills as it was my first time on hills

        Team Spirit and Involvement - 4.5
        I have only deducted half points coz none one of us sang songs

        Overall Improvement before and after the ride - 5
        Well this is for others to comment and no one can judge improvement made in just one day But if a person like Ken Da appreciates you, that means you really are making progress

          @Ken Da & Aryan Da
          Thanks for the beautiful introductions and the official report. Loved all of Aryan's photographs.

          @Zayn, thanks for the appreciative words bro.... and do quickly post the rest of your log. You have captured some of the finer details like the pastries and the cakes that we have missed out in our logs...

          @theChamp
          kabhi kabhi thoda bahut angrezi likh leta hoon... (has been a long time since i wrote something... haven't blogged for ages) and I also liked your way of presentation with all the pictures in the right place. I guess I didn't take enough pictures to properly fit those into places... Now post that second day log soon, with the offroad section pics too

          @prateek: thanks bro

              @Psycho: Just read your trip log thorouhgly, and I must say I REALLY loved the way you have put your experience in words. I had almost forgot that you have also posted pictures after your write-up; I was so immersed in your writing. Wonderful stuff! Thanks for sharing it all in your own, sweet way.

              I guess it was not only the ride that was completed successfully, but also the bond that we, as bikers share was put to the test, and ofcourse we passed with flying colors. Bravo! I am sure, like me, many would hope to see more rides from all you participants, in the future -whether solo or in a group.

              @Anvancy: Nope, I haven't forgotten PIN. How could I? It's a lovely platform for amateur photographers like me (and pros alike). As a matter of fact, I'll be posting a new thread with the Shimla photographs, there, by today.

                Delhi-Shimla-Delhi: 812kms in 2 Days

                Delhi-Shimla-Delhi: 812kms in 2 Days.

                It all happened last month when our Delhi Moderator Aryan strikes us with an idea of for the new riders who are new to xbhp or to touring. One fine day a thread was up mentioning the eligibility and section criteria supported by the R1 rider and moderator Ken Da.

                Before the actual ride our mods decided to test our riding styles. We had a ride to Manesar Mcd and to Dhauj for the off road session accompanied by Manan, Chintu and Nitin.

                Dates were changed and ride was finalized on 29-30th November DAY-1

                We all decided to meet at Delhi Byepass at 0445hrs. I started from home at 0415hrs reached the destination as it is only 14km from my place. I was not aware that Karnal, Petro came to know that his gear lever is missing and he was riding on 5Th gear ☺. He managed to ride ahead and we stopped after 215kms on a Dhaba at outskirts of Ambala. We had a few rounds of pranthas and started again. Meanwhile R1 was surrounded by spectators.

                After crossing Zirakpur, the roads were pathetic as highway was under construction. We reached Panchkula Pinjaur and Kalka Main market, we stopped at Parwanoo Shimla 356Km by ODOHotel Holiday Home. Me and thechamp are veggie so we ordered Kadai Panner and Dal, and Chicken Curry for others. As Petro lives on Soups, so a chicken soup for him. After filling our tummies we went to mall road. Our Photographer Aryan and Psycho started their favorite work and meanwhile Ken Da interviewed all the riders. We spent around 3-4 hours at mall road.

                  Loved each and every line of writeup and logs by everyone. "Sikhbiker" check the temperature you have mentioned in your log. 106 C. Gosh...

                  Also i noticed that you all got to know that the gear shifter was missing near Ambala, then why did't you get it replaced it then and there? would have saved a lot of time.

                  And all these pics reminded me of my trip to shimla. Still remember that CCD, the mall road the Punjabi restaurant. thanks for refreshing my memories.

                    Thanks Kurtrules. I really really really enjoyed the newly laid delicious tarmac. And after a session of offroading even more.

                    For the newbies, I felt that Shimla would be the right destination wherein they would get the even mix of highway riding, good hill roads, not too tough and not too far. I had also thought of Lansdowne, but that was too close, and Narkanda which was too far!

                    Where will it lead us from here..." from Angie by Rolling Stones playing on AOL Radio exactly as I was reading your log! What a coincidence, that too one of my favourite bands!

                    As I was reading through your log, which I really liked, I noticed that you guys were quite well prepared for the ride, barring the cables as you mentionned. But hey... you guys are not newbies anymore... you guys are now tourers by your own right. Hence, no need to kneel or anything.

                    And for biking for the sake of biking, you can come any of the numerous weekends wherein Nitin, Vivek and I are always doing all kinds of things on and with motorcycles! You are always welcome.

                    And guess what is playing as I finish my reply to your quote...

                    I rarely liked Shimla as much as I did this time!

                    Nothing was open then. And in any case, we did not lose much time since his gear lever fell off on 5th gear. He continued on 5th and was able to manage normal speeds like before.

                        Actually, Sikhbiker is right there. The R1's coolant temperature did touch 104-106 degrees C a couple of times at Kalka, because of the massive traffic jam!

                        @Sikhbiker: Thanks for the second day's log.
