Nice I was waiting for this thread... great effort Zayn. Lovely write up and beautiful pics. Keep pouring in, will be waiting for Day 2
I'd rather be riding my motorcycle thinking about God than sitting in church thinking about my motorcycle.
Ride often, ride well, have fun.

Hello! This is interesting. Straight from the newbie ride to a solo ride in a matter of zero rides. This is quite interesting indeed. I am really glad that you are moving on to trips planned on your own and realising them. Good one! Keep going...The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

Day-2
Route Taken:
Rampur - Kaladungi - Nainital - Almora - Binsar - Bageshwar -Kanda - Chaukori
Wake up at 6:00 am today was my test day, have to ride 450Kms
to reach my destination,my journey started at 7:00am.I was bit demoralized
after seeing clock whether I can reach Munsiyari or not because my Day-2
started late and as soon as,I leave home in Rampur,I was surrounded by dense FOG..!
reach Lalpur Dam and that bridge was only 6-7 feet in width riding on that bridge
with dense fog was not easy.
Lalpur Dam bridge full of FOG
__________________________________________________ _______________
Hurdle completed as soon as,I finished that bridge fog was gone. The road till Tanda
was pathetic again only 10 feet in width with lots and lots of bumps and trade mark of
Indian roads craters. In the end come to T-point,If I go left I will reach Moradabad,
If I go right I'll reach Kaladungi-Ramnager,so taken right.Saw lots of tractors trailers
overloaded with sugarcane. It was 8am and I was still very behind my desired
destination,so I decide to do throttle lock, again hurdle aagh! FOG! before Bajpur area
and it was so dense that truckers were coming on face don't know why, they must
be thinking that they are driving on four lane highway.
I can't see because my helmet visor was full of water droplets,So open it after 5-6kms
my eyes were full of tears (water tears)...Suddenly at Bajpur fog was gone and
bright sun rays from here Mr Jim area starts, after Bajpur it was scary not a single
car/Motorist I was alone crossing that area full of dense forest and then
suddenly wollah!!,I saw a leopard crossing the road in great rush,I was shocked
after seeing him big tail with big black spots,I was just 100m away from leopard.
Decide to cover that area like a cannonball.
Yes!! Mountains,I was desperate to do leans and more important was to
reach my destination now my Pulsi started choking have to face it was common
when climbing up,then I saw Mr Jim's area it was amazing view.

Mr Jim's area it was an amazing view

__________________________________________________ _______________
Reach Khurpatal

__________________________________________________ _______________

__________________________________________________ _______________

__________________________________________________ _______________
and then Sariyatal which was just 2 kms from Khurpatal
__________________________________________________ _______________

__________________________________________________ _______________

Then decide to move on but the views stop me
en-route Nanital

__________________________________________________ _______________

__________________________________________________ _______________
Reach Nainital at 9:30am
__________________________________________________ _______________
Nani lake

__________________________________________________ _______________
now to Almora best route low altitude and plane roads (sort of) my weakness views stop me again
__________________________________________________ _______________
en-route Almora

__________________________________________________ _______________

__________________________________________________ _______________

__________________________________________________ _______________
Now It was time to remove waste from my body..

__________________________________________________ _____________
Reach Almora at 11am useless to stop at Almora fly off to Binsar but
here,I was bit confused where to go which route to take but here one guy
help me explain me the route very coolly must say people in Kumaon are helpful
reach Binsar at 12:20,click some pics and adjustment of luggage my Pulsi was bit heavy..

__________________________________________________ _______________
Now what saw a wolf but he/she was bit scared from my bike.It was clear
that I can't reach Munsiyari.Plan to stop Chakouri,Bageshwar was 56 km from Binsar
which was lot in mountains and nothing in plans but easy to reach due to less
traffic (Kumaon Zinda Badh)..
Bageshwar was at 950m so most of the ride was down hill.
__________________________________________________ _______________
en-route Bageshwar

__________________________________________________ _______________
Reach Bageshwar at 2pm it was amazing this District was awesome with amazing views.
This town is situated on the confluence of river Saryu. There are many old temples dating
back to 10th century AD. Among them are the Baijnath temple which is believed to have
been built by the Pandavas.
One can easily see sangam of the sacred Sarayu and Gomati rivers.
__________________________________________________ _______________
Sangam

__________________________________________________ _______________
Bageshwar was beauty crystal clear water.Tank filled up again bike was not in reserve
but its ok to have fuel. Now stomach was empty had to do lunch, here locals told me the road
to Chakouri is good but few Kms of loose gravel road to few means 10kms.Chakouri was 47Kms
from Bageshwar my plan was to reach Chakouri only because Munsiyari was 136Kms from there
it was possible to reach there but ,I was against night riding in hills,it was against my way of
riding because,I was not in hurry and don't have appointment too with someone there.
Same 10 kms of loose gravel it was scary bike was sliding everywhere my Vee Rubber
supported me till the end of hurdle, road was pathetic few workers where digging here and
there except making road and the best part was that they don't know Hindi except the
word Chakouri,my beloved Pulsi was climbing hill in 2nd gear which was really harsh route
was up hill because climbing from 2,500feets to 7,500feet with road like totally raise.
__________________________________________________ _______________

__________________________________________________ _______________
I reached Chakouri at 4 PM was thrilled by the view which Chakouri offers and chilling wind
coming from Nanda Devi and famous peaks of Panchachuli.Cottage taken at KMVN it was pretty cheap,
service was awesome on time. Straight to the tower when,I saw taxi Inova stop and wolah!!
group of 5 girls with a driver,I think girls were bit elder to me.
but good time pass,really
they were helpful and funny too.
Chakouri is worth a visit. Those who want to feel free and feel the cold winds coming from Panchachuli.
Nepal was close too...

Good, solid ride you had there on this, the second day Zayn. I am getting interested to know how that group of girls and the driver turned out to be funny and helpful. What kind of conversation did you have with them, what interested them to visit Chaukori, etc. are the kind of things I would like to know, here.
Anyhow, I am eagerly awaiting the third day's log and photographs. When I visited Chaukori, my plan was to go to Munsiyari too, but because of time constraints, I could not. Now, going by the day-1 text that you had posted earlier, it seems even you gave Munsiyari a pass and went to Kausani instead, which is equally a beautiful place. However, even Chaukori leaves one spell-bound with it's beautiful vistas, short village trails, with it's small houses and sweet Kumaoni people - everything just seems so laid-back. Lovely little village, Chaukori is.
Do give us the third day's log with some photographs of the areas in and around Kausani, as I am really planning to visit Kausani sometime during the next month (March, 2010) for photography purposes. And yes, that cottage in which you stayed (Cottage No.003) was the same cottage that I got when I went to Chaukori a couple of weeks back. Simple co-incidence or a thing to think about; I wonder!

Dada thanks a lot you are following this thread with great interest, those girls where going Munsiyari but same due to short of time + Hotmix road of Munsiyari they decided to stay at Chaukori that day they all where coming from Nainital and I forget to ask them from where they all where coming which state.
..
as there was nobody to talk except few old Aunty,Uncle & Drivers in Dorms don't like talking to them..?
I was with them most of the time and were very curious to know how I came from Delhi with bike as I was alone they feel pity and reduce my loneliness by jokes and all.
Yes Dada my plan was to reach Munsiyari although I know that I can't reach there but why not to give a try.Best way to reach Munsiyari is by taking a halt at Bageshwar cheap KMVN and awesome historical place full of temples and one can see Sangam too.
Yes Chaukori was amazing, but its better to leave Kausani and see Munsiyari, close view of Panchachuli and what Kausani offer is same view but from far and its a very small town too.
It was happenstance that I got that cottage,I was thinking about you only that,I should have visited that place with you only but the bed close to toilet door was bit noisy..

Yes, truly said. The view Munsiyari offers is unmatchable. Perhaps, in the coming months, I'll be able to break free.
As for those ladies, good to see that they were interested in giving a lone soul some much-needed company. Well, I am saying "much-needed" as I am sure, after riding solo for so long, you MUST have enjoyed some "good" and "beautiful" company, if you get my drift.
Great! Now, bring on the day-3 log soon, Zayn. And it's really good to see you doing this LONG, solo tour just after the newbies induction ride, last December!

Wow! That was interesting. You saw a leopard, a wolf... what else? I have never seen a leopard in my whole life. And I have never been "helped" by a bunch of young giggly girls either after a solo ride. Some people have all the luck!
Good reading through your log. I have not been to Kumaon or Garhwal since 2006!The Wheel was a great invention; Two Wheels with a Motor in between was even better!

You had many reasons to cheer on your ride; solo riding, leopard, wolf and girls to rescue of lonely soul. Did you check your astrological element before heading out?? Lucky guy!!
I've never been so lucky in any of my ride except for seeing some wild elephants when I lost my way.
I'm specially waiting for your log on Kausani as I'm still living in the air and ambience of the place, I went there just few days ago
