What I see from this thread is, most of the rides we call tough were due to Circumstances, ignorance( as in my case). I dont see many tough rides to be coming out of sheer choice. and that makes me glad too, for I see we all are good and sensible enough not to push things beyond the bend till it is utmost required.

At Desi, out of all the posts, yours was the most Stupid, tough, idiotic and funny. Period

Here's my list of toughest rides...

      1. Bangalore - Hyderabad on my RX-135 (Me & My Friend) during the month of May... We started from our home @ 5 AM and just when we reached Hebbal, my head-light flew away and all I had was the pilot lamp and had to reach Hyderabad before it gets dark... Till date its been my worse decision w.r.t. biking... It was so hot during that time and we had boils all over our a*@... Reached Hyderabad by 6:30 PM or so... Overall it was a 620 Kms in 13 hours with hell number of butt breaks

      2. When we were returning from Kodachadri to Bangalore http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/tourer/9...d-getaway.html, it started raining like crazy when we were near Tirtha Halli and that's when the going got tougher... As it got getting darker + the heavy rain, it was a bit tough to ride & catch up with big bikes (3 P220s & R15) for my Uni... Added to it, the poor lighting made it even tougher... This is one trip when i felt my Uni is severely under-powered compared to these big bikes... Otherwise, its a gr8 bike to ride on...

      3. Tumkur - Bangalore stretch during Aug 15th weekend, 2005 on my RX-135... Due to end of long weekend, there was heavy inward traffic towards on this stretch, added to it the rain, slush on the road, poor head-lights, having drove for more than a 1000 kms in the past two days (We'd been to Gokarna) and too tired even to stand, let alone drive... Bumper-to-Bumper driving by all the vehicles @ almost 70+ Kmph... Was v.risky to drive... Overall felt very happy having reached home safely...

Not really..Actually it got dark because we didn't miss it. We were spell bound just stopping every km and saying wowwwww!!!
It was just last 2 hrs or 40 kms that we rode in dark.
Also the next morning we passed through magnificient tea estates in heavy rain and with waterfalls every where.

If it was documented, could it not qualify for the Iron Butt/ saddle sore? Just a thought

Another tough one that I remember is the ride from Chamba to Killad (Pangi, HP) via the Sach Pass. This was some 200 kms and there were no roads after 125 kms and one of the most steepest ascend and descent that i have ever ridden on!

This was the so called road:

The 40 odd kilometers from Sach to Killad took us 6 hrs.

After reading the Himalayan adventure rides above , my rides have been pretty calm and easy. Probably because I have never tried to push the limits. The only time they were pushed a little was when I did Pune-Bangy (Neelmangla) in arnd 10hrs .

@Kurtrules : sach to killad ... awesome road ... I wish we had something like that down south

Offroading from Rajmachi to Lonavala last monsoon was real tough fun.
It was not scary but it was insane. We were 20-25 bikers from Pune/Mumbai xbhp. There was hardly any bike which didn't fall on that 10 km streach.

These pics are of ascent to the hill,it was slushy. While returning it started raining. The downhill was so slippery that we were just slipping out of gravity.

I call my toughest ride to be the most fun filled ride and I would like to be in such a situation again.

It happened last year when I rode from Satara to Mumbai on the day when it rained the max. Usually it takes 3hrs from Pune-Mumbai but that day it took more than 7hrs to complete the stretch of 150kms. Till Khandala it was like any other ride, though it was raining very hard but I was quite ok with it.But things changed while riding on Khandala-Khopoli ghat section, with heavy fog(Zero visibility) I couldn't see anything. Finally had to save my ass my riding behind a State bus. Fog reduced afterv the ghat but intensity of rain increased three fold I almost fell on a ditch near Panvel by not able to make out the actual road. The worst part came after that which was actually scary.

A big mistake on my part to take the JNPT open stretch road instead of taking the main Panvel city road. The rain coupled with strong wind was so strong that I was not able to keep the bike standing leave alone ride it. I stopped many a times just to hold the bike so that we both were not blown away by the strong wind. The 6odd kms from the Panvel left turn to the right turn towards Kalamboli was the toughest ride in my whole life till date. Its only when I reached Kalamboli exit I could feel that I had accomplished something which I might never experience again.

The rest of the ride was with some xBhpians. Though tough on some parts specially when crossing the Airoli underpass with my silencer going inside the water, or the last section to Kirana restaurant where we three (Me,DK,fastbiker) were riding like a blind man without knowing whether the road is going towards left or right but I knew I'm riding alone so there was no anxiety.
