loads of respect for you dude..made that stretch early this month on my babe and I know how strenuous it is on the R15 . the seating position is totally different compared to the earlier indian bikes...going flat out for around 22 hrs (have read ur saddlesore logs many times ) aint a joke..but I guess once she goes into those triple digits everything else takes a back seat..

EDIT: CHITRADURGA-HUBLI..first time I did that stretch and I will never forget that patch of SShh@#$D.

Well my most recent difficult ride (and I kid you not) was a few weeks back when I rode from Pune to Mumbai... a ride that I do often in around 3 hours on my RTR and 2 hours and 35 minutes on the R15. This time I did it in 6 hours on the RTR is mad mad mad traffic in most places. Add to that some insane mumbai heat and I was sweating like a pig! might have fried up my clutch plates and lost a few KGs too!

Apart from that my favurite ride was back from Goa to Mumbai on the R15 on a crazy rainy day (Chaturthi) and I had to be back home by 8, took a detour to avoid rains and ended up in a disaster of a road which took 3 hours to reach belgaum. From there it was literaly a breeze on the GQ (read rain + crazy wind blasts) and then finally a choked Satara, Pune, and Mumbai as a lot of people were dancing on the road carrying the idol with them! I did manage to reach on time though!

GOT 4 RIDES with very different experiences:

            1) My toughest ride would be from Panvel to Lonavala last year in around July-August... some 120 odd kms. in the heaviest rains i had ever witnessed in my life. I've been to places long n far, but nothing like this one.
Around 15-20 Mumbai xbhpians were heading for an Overnight g2g to Masterminds weekend paradise at lonavala. I was leading & it felt like riding through Tsunamis (trucks passing by created huge waves), water over knee level, heavy crosswinds, ZERO Visibilty, RAINS felt like Dooms day was here. Took us 3 hours to reach, a ride we generally complete in 40 mins./1 hr. max...

Most of the Mumbai xbhpians present that day would agree about it being the toughest ride ever, except for Leh'ed & IBA people

That was the day my humble N91 became a martyr...

            2) the TWO long days, 2600 kms., failed Bun Burner attempt in Dec '09. Mumbai-Bangalore-Chennai-Bangalore-Mumbai, with DK & Ketan.
A ride that opened our eyes, a ride that took us to our physical n mental limits.
Hallucinations (saw buildings, gliding shadows, running people, running livestock, in the midst of Night), sleepyness, extreme cold, crosswinds & restlessness, not to mention the burning butt.
At one time i saw a sharp left turn, got excited, positioned myself for the corner, Leaned my bike &... Ahhhhhhhh!!! Opened my eyes, bike leaning, speeds around 100 kmph, Highway is still straight, Balls in mouth, hard braking, MIRACLE MIRACLE, avoided a bad crash into the trees. Parked my bike & started looking at the sky thanking God for that second chance & decided to wait for DK n Ketan to catchup, Phew!

            3) Another was a stupid 42 hrs, 850 kms ride back from Mt.Abu to Mumbai with 3 other Mumbai xbhpians.
A ride that was supposed to be max 15-16 hrs. took us a bad 42 hrs. with bad turn of events in MAY heat, 2009.
Puncture at 3 AM in the middle of nowhere, worst dehydration ever experienced, , worst crosswinds, Heatwaves, sun strokes, a crash & no sleep took all that toll on us. Gods were angry with us I guess

            4) A SOLO, 1048 kms. ride from Mumbai to Nagpur in 14 hrs flat.
Trust me SOLO riding is not a good idea, specially on straight empty highways. Ripped hard at 130-140 kmph for most of the ride & took two long breaks of around 40 mins each.

P.S: I UNOFFICIALLY TAG THIS AS THE BEST THREAD ON xbhp...

Cant say which of these is the toughest ride. Both of them required a stamina of a different sort. First and second were to stay and hold on to the bike alive and the third was to keep going and going and going!!
              1) Phuentsholing to Paro via Pazakha -180 kms in 10 hours ( 1 hour break included). Roads were really bad and to top it all it was on the ghats with mud, rocks, sludge, narrow roads and what not. Average speed of 18kmph tells u the real story
              2) Bihar More to Darjeeling - 80 kms in 8 freaky hours!!!! Zero visibility fog, Rains to top it, Mud to make it even slippery, tram lines to bring you down ( did drop the bike on a couple of occasions) and very cold too!!. Average speed 10km/hr
              2) Pune to Blore- 870 kms SOLO ride in 13 hours on a bullet!! (2 hours of breaks included). This looks like butter when compared with first one

This was the so called road:

The 40 odd kilometers from Sach to Killad took us 6 hrs.
best roads I've ever seen....... awesome......

@MG_Biker1806--- highway wind is vey dangerous....... understood that during my B'lore ride...... but with heavy rain it can be very very dangerous....... I can imagine that part....... faced heavy rain and heavy fog but without wind...... now faced wind without rain or fog....... so combination of both can be deadly.........

                @spiderweb-----
again a tough ride in Mumbai road...... I'll avoid this ride during rains....... I travel at least twice a month to Mumbai....... but won't take the road during rains......

BiharMore to Darjeeling ride is always tiring except extreme summers....... but buddy we have Toy-Train lines there n not tram lines.......

so my 2nd, 3rd n all no of tiring rides can come here......
its during my college days n we were not allowed to go to hills....... so while leaving home we have to wear normal t-shirt n jeans(to prove we're going nearby)....... up ride is fine(max time)........ but problem is coming down....... it gets dark, rain in one corner n nothing on another n fog(its fog or cloud, same thing) to worsen the matter........
rain n dark is okey....... but its the fog which I fear......
its like we were trembling from cold, water drops accumulate on eyelashes n zero visibility....... once hit a standing sumo...... went to some1's corridor or hit something here n there....... max speed u can take is 30....... that's the only time u wish some vehicle coming from other side....... u become sure of the road........ u headlights of bikes suck a big time during fog........ normally it used to take around 2 hrs to Kurseong....... but during fog it even took 4.5hrs........

My toughest ride was my first long ride in India. Woke up on Saturday morning in Mumbai and ordered breakfast. Lounged around watching the television and getting progressively bored until 12:00pm when I decided that enough was enough.

This next bit isn't Xbhp approved but...

Tee-Shirt, Shorts, Caterpillar boots and a gym bag with clothes. Hopped on the Karizma and took off to Chennai at 1:00pm in POURING rain. Non-stop rain all the way to Kolhapur during which I covered 400kms in 7 hours with incessant rain. Reached there looking and smelling like a drowned rat. I had to dry the clothes in the gym bag as well as everything was wet. Spread clothes all over the hotel room and ordered tandoori chicken and beer for the night. Woke up at 5:00am and dressed up in clothes that were still wet and left for Chennai.

Covered 1000kms on day 2 in 13 hours in non-stop rain again. This was the toughest ride of my life and I don't think anything else has come close.

                    Excellent Thread!

My toughest ride would be Lavasa-Mumbai. I was on my Unicorn with few of my friends and we reached there comfortably 200+kms in around 2.5hrs, but while coming back it was my first time experiencing heavy cross-winds, although i did hear about them before, there is nothing which prepares you for the actual moment, just as we reached those beautiful twisties there was heavy fog and it started pouring. By the time we reached pune there was hardly any visibility. Eventually we did some 200kms in about 4 hours. To date i've never experienced such heavy cross-winds!

my toughest ride is going to office everyday which i dont want to go and have to convince myself everyday saying "you need money to fill fuel you fool"

zero traffic and 3kms is the ride though.. lol.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Always be ready (get geared) to fall and then think of sitting on the motorcycle.

When you sold your karizma and bought Hayabusa?
Even 1 hour -120 Km is also a little exaggerated having a true top speed of 126 Km /Hour you should ride the bike at 126km/hour (translated to 140 Km/hour on speedo ) for continuous 1 hour literally, without letting the bike take a breath which is highly unlikly .
