  • Winter ride to Gangotri

    dear friends,
being in Delhi, provides me ample opportunity to visit Gharwal areas whenever i have 3-4 days of break... in october i had been to Gangotri and at that time i visualized the situation at Gangotri in the peak of winter... i wondered how beautiful it could be when there is no life around and the roads are closed for vatris... i had a talk with my some close rider friends and we decided to pay a visit to Gangotri on 1st January... wow what a wonderful start it can be of a New Year...
a teaser... hope you will like it

Your photographs are quite good. But it would be nice if you could also give us some info in writing too, like the route you took, the distances, the temperatures, the places you went to etc... Thanks.

Thnx Vaibhav, nice to see you buddy
the road after Harshil/Dharali was very difficult to negotiate for Black ice... we all riders were on bullets and two of the riders were facing such conditions for the first time so they got a bit nervous... had some minor slips aswell... also the freezing temperature made worse for us... with numb fingers it became more tough to control our Bulls, but pure determination made posible for us to reach Gangotri on 1st January... some more pics between Harshil & Gangotri.

the last stretch of 15 kms was just out of this world... whole valley under white carpet with no trace of habitation... at last we reached Gangotri and saw some amazing sights

@Tilak: Nice, very nice. Harsil sure looks wonderful during winters! However, I would love to see more details about the place (Harsil), like how to reach, the road to take, days required and anything else that might be helpful to people like me who are keen to travel to Harsil.
                              :)
