Following this thread from the start.. good trip, all of you. To those who are still at it, all the best!
OT: and I thought there was no bickering / hard feelings
. On a more serious note, its cool I guess. Some guys were on a deadline, some guys weren't, so I guess it worked out for the best for both groups.

The word is IMMATURE but then again I didn't expect you to know that at your young age of 23.Originally posted by MotorBreath! View Post@Alankar: It was fun riding with u thru out.. thanx for watchin my back but heck.. being so UNMATURED on the last day was unexpected.
And oh, like I said, you, in your position, and considering the way you behaved and acted for the 28 days, are in no position to judge my maturity. Refrain from taking pot shots at me on public forums. I can do the same - and I can probably do it a lot better than you can. For now, out of pure respect for the journey we took together, I will refrain from saying anything further.Last edited by alankarmisra; 06-27-2010, 01:21 AM.

That 'God' thing was just a extension of Satyen's reference earlier.
Everything and everything you say is fine, but I had to be in Mumbai, in office on 16th. What you guys did was certainly more fun and were able to do as your profession allowed you to (God bless Motor!).
and don't worry about missing out the first view of Kashmir valley, trust me I saw it while coming back, wasted my five seconds! Our version was better ;-)

Oh Darn, I am too tempted to use one nice quote that I learnt somewhere...
Opinions are like assholes.... everyone has one....
and everyone thinks the others is more smelly than theirs...
No More OT on this.

Please see my "Vishwas quote". He is clearly criticizing us Mumbaiwallas of lack of preparation and he is slinging mud all the way from Kashmir to Kanyakumari (and a little bit fell in China too). I object your honour!Originally posted by satyenpoojary View PostHang on guys... lets keep it cool....
I remember Vishwas saying very specifically that niether of the group was wrong, it was just the final deadline that everyone was worried about.
j/k ok. Please don't take this post seriously!!!

Hang on guys... lets keep it cool....
I remember Vishwas saying very specifically that niether of the group was wrong, it was just the final deadline that everyone was worried about.
Pune folks had to back on a specific date, and Mumbai folks had somewhat the luxury of time.
What I was criticising is something else... I am criticising the basic courtesy of planning together and playing a cat and mouse game all the while.
What went wrong in nutshell:
1) Mumbai & Pune had decided to go through a common tour
2) Midway Mumbai decided to play around with departure time, knowing very well that they had 'planned' a meet up somewhere
3) Despite that, Mumbai decided to take a detour which would mean another day lost for meeting in Srinagar
4) The same mistake of a late departure further messed it up completely
Like I said earlier too, point 2-3-4 are mistakes ONLY if you agree that point 1 was a misout.
I will not indulge in mud slinging, but I strongly criticise the lack of preparation.
- Riding with loose baggage, worn out tyres, is not exactly what I meant by preparation.
In all I would say it was two individually brilliant tours, but collectively a disaster tour.
Both of you know that I was not keen on over planning, for the simple reason that it boils down to this. A plan is a framework to know what all is to be covered and what all can be chucked in case of a mishap.
My Crib was that it was "planned" to be a joint tour, and both teams wasted a lot of time for whatever reasons. I can crib that Mumbai got delayed, I can also crib that Pune didnt go to Amritsar.
- Not that I approve of what happened otherwise, but still.
PS: This is the update thread, any more bashing can be jointly done with a pitcher of God drink face to face!

On a separate non-confrontational note, this is to those that will tour after us - either on the same route or on different route. If ever you find yourself stuck in a location for issues beyond your control - bike repairs, waiting for someone, weather, no fuel, etc. - don't consider the day wasted. Consider it an opportunity to leave your gloves behind, take a slow, leisurely walk across the city/village, savour the local cuisine, strike a conversation with locals, learn about their ways of life, visit local popular not with tourists, but with locals - even if its just a chai ka tapri, live their life for a day. You get more out of the experience that way. More memories, more friends, more information, more happiness. Just my two cents. I've heard "We wasted a day because of XYZ reason" waayyyyy too many times and my skin crawls everytime I hear it. A lazy day on a tour is only wasted if you spend the day indoors watching TV.
