  • First solo trip from Hyderabad to Goa

    Hi All,

Its my first post in xbhp as being a new member.
I am planning to make a road trip from Hyderabad to Goa on my Pulsar 200NS. Googled regarding the road and it seems to be fine through Belgaum.
I have been to Goa earlier from Banglore on my Platina 100CC. Had a good experience that time. We started at 2pm, drove whole night and reached Goa next day 10am. Got stuck at few places due to rain. Last time we had 2 bikes and 4 people but this time there is only one bike i.e. mine and 2 people. Other guys are coming from different locations. I bought ths bike in April. So will it be good and safe to travel during night? Needed your suggestions on this. People who had been from Hyderabad to Goa on bike, please share your experience.

    Thanks in Advance

Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

An alternate route is via Zaheerabad, Gulbarga, Bijapur, Athani, Amboli Ghats, Sawantwadi.

The distance (714km) is a little greater (~30km) but the road conditions are likely to be better.

I would recommend the route suggested by Nirvan(quoted below). Last year in July, I took the route Hyd-Mehboobnagar-Raichur-Belgaum. This stretch is full of potholes and multiple speed breakers. This route majorly consists of state highways. Safely take the highway route suggested by Nirvan.

First solo trip from Hyderabad to Goa

              Hello everyone,
I'm new on xbhp. I need some suggestions on a solo bike trip i am planning in first week of December from Hyderabad to Goa. I know there is already a thread for trip from Hyderabad to Goa [http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/touring-...-hyd-goa.html] but the last reply to that thread was in may 2013. Apart from that i need some (actually a lot) of information than the route since it will be my first solo ride.

              1. So, the first thing i want to ask is this: is my itinerary [given below] ok? I am following the route given by Nirvan in the above mentioned thread.
              • I will leave Hyderabad on 2 December at around 6AM. Reach Gulbarga by 11-12. Visit some places in the city and spend the night there.
              • Leave Gulbarga on 3rd morning around 6AM. Reach Bijapur. Go around the city and stay there during the night.
              • Leave Bijapur on 4th morning around 6AM. Reach Amboli by noon. Spend the day there and stay during the night.
              • Leave Amboli on 5th December morning and reach Goa by 9 or 10 AM

Now, I have made this plan because i don't just want to cruise to Goa. i want the journey to be untiring, first of all. Then, Gulbarga and Bijapur have always been on my list of places to travel. So, your views on this itinerary, please.

              2. I have traveled around 170-180 km in a day before [in around 4-5 hrs with friends. we went from Hyderabad to Nagarjuna sagar and Ettipotla falls. more than once]. But this will be my first solo ride and that too over 700kms. So, any suggestion regarding precautions i need to take, preparations needed or anything which you think is important and will help me.

              3. I have an Apache 200 4V, which i bought in August. so, any suggestion about the bike. My previous trips, to Nagarjuna sagar, were on my Honda Unicorn Dazzler.

              4. And lastly, should i take the same route coming back from Goa to Hyderabad? Or is there any alternate interesting route?

              Thank you all, in advance.

Query Approved and Merged with similar

I am not from around the place so i cannot comment on the route per se.

                2. Just relax and enjoy the ride. If you are ever exhausted and feel unable to complete the distance for the day, just find the closest hotel and bunk for the day. Don't push more than you feel comfortable. Go through this thread for tons of information - http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/art-safe...ce-riding.html

                3. The bike is brand new, you need to worry about almost nothing. At the most carry clutch, accelerator cables, headlight bulb and puncture repair kit.

                4. It is always more fun to take different routes. Depending on the number of days you can take a real circuitous route like Goa-Mangalore-Bangalore-Hyderabad Else you can get back on the shortest/ fastest route available.

Re: First solo trip from Hyderabad to Goa

I've thought of a similar second trip to Goa on my CBR150R if all conditions permit. I've seen that Hyderabad-Bijapur part is a cakewalk, though it is a two-lane strip.. Since this is your first solo, be very VERY careful with the sand lorries that traverse these parts in early mornings. Gulbarga-Bijapur is easy too, as it is a national highway. I've no idea about the Amboli part though, but travelogues suggest that it is a rider's paradise. If your first 2 days work out well, and if Amboli isn't your serious destination, I think you can ride it off to Goa (via Amboli) on the third day only. Please let Route no.66 riders throw some light at it.

I've done the Sagar road stretch, up and down, in a day too, and it would be similar, except that lands would be little dry up to Vijayapura. Alternative route, if you're interested in a lot of riding would be to explore through Dandeli forests, but mind you, that's too long and lonely for first solo rides. It'd go like Goa-Karwar-Hubbali-Raichur-Hyderabad.
I meditate as I ride to find a place to sit and meditate.
