          • Wats on the odo?????Regardless of whats on the odo,the mandatory checks you need to perform is that if the oil level is upto the mark, the headlights and tyres are in proper condition,Clutch and accelerator cables, brake linings etc etc ........if your bike has run a bit longer also check for clutch plates, suspension etc ..........

                • Bangalore-kodaikanal-Coonoor Route Query

                  Hi Guys,
I am planning a trip in december with my friend in Yamaha FZ. My trip is not to ride miles together but I am planning this trip to be more refreshing and off from the routine work in cities. My plan is starting off from Bangalore and halt at kodaikanal on day1(That includes checking out few places in kodai). Second day visiting few other places at kodai and start off to coonoor at about 11am and halt at coonoor/ooty. I am planning a two day halt at coonoor/ooty. Fourth day off to Bandipur-Mysore and back to Bangalore by night.

I have queries regarding the route and present road conditions from Bangalore-Kodaikanal, Kodaikanal-Coonoor.

Also need info about the present condition about Sterling Lakeview resort at Kodaikanal

                  • sandyvlsi:The route you can take is bangalore-hosur-Dharmapuri-Namakkal-Dindugal-Bathalagund-Kodaikanal(480kms)The roads are in excellent conditions.I would suggest you leave by night or very early in the morning because once the sun comes on the your heat it becomes difficult and boring.Dont forget to take the right at dindugal, that road leads to Theni. At bathalagund you can ask for some local help for taking Kodaikanal route. From kodaikanal you can take Kodaikanal-Palani-udumalapettai-Pollachi-Coimbatore-Metupalayam-Coonoor(260kms).Here again the roads are very good but single laned, except for the traffic intensity after Coimbatore the entire stretch is a pleasure to ride. What I would suggest you to do is instead of a 2 day stay at coonoor, you can visit Munnar and halt for a day and take my words you will not regret. And more over you don't require 2 days to see places around Coonoor. You can go through this for more details Ride to work. Happy riding buddy

                    • Bangalore-Kodaikanal-Coonoor route query

                      Hi Phani,
Thank you for your valuable information.I will think about the munnar idea. I need info regarding the stay at Kodaikanal,Munnar and Coonoor. Can you provide me a details regarding it

                      Comment

                      • sandyvlsi: Sorry buddy i dont have those details now.Need to search for it.You can find 'N" number of hotels and resorts in each of the locations.Stayed at Hotel Lakeview in Ooty some time back, fit for the budget or if you are travelling on a slim wallet you can choose Venkateshwara hotel opp to Coonoor railway station.Tariffs start around 500/- with some decent parking space and clean rooms. You can also try getting accomodation in any tea estates if you are lucky. But try to be there around lunch time when the owner or the manager is around. The last option is definitely worth.@Kodai: Some hotel on Bear Shola Road, sorry i dont remember the name.tariff around 700/- My suggestion is find a hotel or a resort slightly away from the main town. The flooding of tourists will surely irritate you.

                        Happy touring

1)at what speed you have rode to reach 600 in 7hrs? and milage you got.

2)is the bang-hyd road is good?

3)do we need to show any docs at the border b/w andhra and karnataka?
I did this twice-once last month&came back yesterday.
The roads are excellent-4 lane all the way, except for a small patch of 10-15kms.detour near Gooty.
The best place to stop is the BP Ghar Dhaba just after the above mentioned patch (on the way to Bangy), where you can get 91 octane fuel (Speed) for those who need it, good food&a nice place to relax about halfway. Many other places either only stock diesel or do not accept credit cards.
I did this on my R15 in about 9 hours (7 hours riding time+2 hours total breaks). Cruising speed was about 100-120kmph (if the vehicle permits it can go faster). It is very safe&enjoyable.
No docs.will be required-bikes do not pay toll so can zoom off from the left most lane. Keep the fuel slip with you so that you can show the cops in Bangalore that you rode down for the weekend or something.
Only be careful near Bangalore International Airport-cops&Interceptors are standing with speed guns. The speed limit is mentioned as 80, but there is another small board saying 60 for 2 wheelers. I got caught with 82kmph on the speedgun. Bribed the cop with Rs.50&left.
That is only near Bangalore International Airport-rest of the way is all fun.
Hope all your queries are answered. Have a safe&enjoyable ride!
