    @Devilish,
Road Condition from Bangalore to Hyderabad as on 13/11/2009.Total ~550kms
1.Bangalore to Anantapur (~200kms) the road is average can be managed with average speeds.
2.Anantapur to Kurnool(~150kms+)-the road is in bad shape due to floods, road widening work is in progress and unexpected divertions on roads due to widening and need to be extremely careful if ride in during nights.
3.Kurnool-Hyderabad(~200 kms)-this road is in a very good shape and yon can cruise as much as you can.

Route 2 is the best . The others have bad roads in lots of places , Iv suffered with route 1 and route 4.
The road from Kanhangad to Kannur is filled with Craters on NH 17

Thanks Santosh, I think I will stick to the route 2 which you have mentioned, would you know approx distance in route 2 & the avg time taken to reach Kannur, assuming I would leave Tumkur (70 Kms from Blore) at 5Am.

My friend is also suggesting route 3, any thoughts?

                  hi guys,

I am planning a trip to tirupati from Pune. most probably solo either on My Hunk or a friends ZMA. Can you suggest the safest possible route (in terms of rider safety, bandits etc).
Also how are the road stretches. I plan to do this ride across 5 days max. (total travel time).
                  BTW trip sometime in February.

                  Thanks in advance.

Stick to NH4, go to Yellapur from Hubli. Plenty of waterfalls near Yellapur man. Roads are absolutely fantastic complete with twisties. Even the route you have suggested (Bankapur onwards)

                        • I have travelled in this route, I would best say to go through
Hyderabad, Mahbubnagar, Raichur, Manvi, Gangavati, Hospet, harpanahalli, harihara, honnali, and head to straight to hit NH206.

Roads near hospet might be bad due to lorries carrying over the limit iron ore, that's the reason to avoid NH13, NH63 all together.

the roads from raichur to Hyderabad were good but that was before the floods, not sure about the condition now.

                          To hit Pune, follow NH4.

Thanks DarthVeda for your quick reply. prior to floods the roads upto Gangavathi are pretty decent. From there iam confused to take which route to Jog falls & the best place to stay over night.
Coming to Pune Iam thinking to hit NH 17 from Jog falss & continue along the west coast. Pls update me on this.

                            • I don't know about the routes as I have not travelled in that, what I can say about the route I travelled, the roads were single lane but almost no potholes, very scenic, goes through a lot of rural areas and very less traffic.

You can either stay in Hospet, Harihara depending on how much you cover in one day, if You don't hit Hospet then you can also stay at Gangavati, it's a big place and very near to Hampi as well

Iam planning to cover upto sidapur on the first day itself, as i can be at gangavati by 12pm max, if whether permits & roads are in the same condition as in early this year
