I'm not too sure about the Hospet bit. I can vouch for the Bankapur-Mundgod-Yellapur-Sirsi route. It is just brilliant.

just did a day's ride to sakleshpur and back, the roads from Kunigal to C.R. Patna is getting ready, there are stretches of road where the new highway is almost up well one half that is but it is still good to do 120 and up constant.
Road from hassan to sakleshpur is not so great and roads from Sakleshpur to Maranahalli (kadumane estate) is ok except for the corners or curves which is fu**ed up

Read the whole thread and still didnt find an answer.Maybe the question is too stupid.But please excuse my ignorance and please tell me whats the best route from chennai to blore ?
Is there only one route ?
i stay in east tambaram so the tambaram by pass road is close to me.Will ride down very early morning.

Am planning for a Bike Trip during last week of this month... During the planning stage, we were 3 of us (Myself on Unicorn & 2 others on bull), but eventually 1 guy dropped out completely and the other one is on the verge of dropping ... Am more than determined to make it to this trip... Following is the route which i have in mind... If there's any room for improvement (in terms of covering more places, better route, condition of road etc...), please let me know about the same... If any1 of you have similar plans, you're more than welcome to join me

*P.S: Am open to even change the route from clock-wise to anti-clock-wise if the situation demands...

25th Dec: Bangalore to Munnar (Distance 462 kms)
Bangalore - Hosur - Mettur - Dharmapuri - Palani - Theni - Munnar. Plan to reach by 6 PM.
Bangalore - Hosur - Mettur - Dharmapuri - Pollachi - Valparai - Atterupalli Falls - Munnar

26th Dec: Local sight-seeing at Munnar

27th Dec: Munnar to Thekkady (Leave Munnar early morning, via Kumily. Reach Thekkady by evening. Distance 70 kms)

28th Dec: Local Sight Seeing @ Thekkady.

29th Dec: Thekkady to Alleppey (Leave Thekkady, early morning. Reach Alleppey by noon or so. Distance 150 kms)

30th Dec: Local Sight Seeing @ Alleppey

31st Dec: Alleppey to Wayanad (Leave Alleppey early morning. Reach Wayanad by EOD. Distance 325 kms).

1st Jan: Local Sight seeing @ Wayanad,

2nd Jan: Leave Wayanad early morning, reach Bangalore by EOD via Mananthavadi Road. (280 kms)

it is quite difficult to do the second option Pranesh, stay over at Pollachi and head to valaparai and to Munnar the next day.

@anants_220: there are two major paths from Chennai to Bangalore, it's quite simple plan the same would be given by any map site (bing, google, yahoo).
1. Chennai - Vellore - Krishnagiri - Hosur - Bangalore
2. chennai - Ranipet - chittor -Kolar - Bangalore

I'm planning to ride from Cochin to Coorg(Virajpet) in about a week's time. Which is the best route? And what about the road condition?

How is the road condition between Madikeri and Kasaragod going via Jalsoor?

Since the discussion is about roads, anyone know how the road to Yercaud is from Tirupattur-Harur since I have never been on that road before. I am especially interested in this road because of this seems to hug the Kalrayan Hills to the east. So would make up for a scenic ride :P.

We are planning (just a plan atm) to spend the christmas weekend there, and I don't want to take the rather boring Tambaram-Chinglepet-Tindivanam-Salem route.

NH213 from NH17 to Palakkad

Can anyone hep with the road conditions on NH213 from NH17 to Palakkad?

Riding from Mumbai to Bangalore in a couple of days. Can I get a road-condition update for these patches:

1. Hubli - Davangere - Chitradurga
2. Nelamangala (area in general)

Will be on the MT-01 and don't want to invest in new forks and shocks prematurely

When you riding "down"?

I'm riding "up" this route on christmas, can give you an update by then if you aren't riding before that!

23rd or 24th. I expect to pass through the bad-patches on 24th during the day. Has it improved or gotten worse since Oct-Nov? Last time I passed through on the Karizma I ruined the front end. Don't want to go through that with the MT-01.

Did it 3 weeks back...

After hubli its ok till some distance and then the pain starts with lotsa diversions,pot holes et all...continues past ranibennur for another 70kays around...from there onwards its back to super-sexy tarmac all the way to bangie(do take the NICE road...)

@All : Need updates on road conditions from Bangalore to Mangalore via Hasan and thereafter Mangalore to Murudeshwar(NH17)...pointers to picturesque spots on the way would be helpful...
